  1. That was Britton on the botched snaps by a backup. Apparently Jeffery, Frye, Wootton, Paea and Zach Minter were the standouts in practice this morning. Mills was just brutal at RT. Those first 4 are probably the 4 guys that need to be good for this team to be a championship caliber team.....other than the guys we know will be good, obviously.
  2. Bears signed a RB today because Allen hurt his hamstring....and his chances of holding on to the 3rd RB job.
  3. I hope Javy doesn't go to Iowa just so we can see a lineup with him, Bryant and Soler in it next year. If Baez doesn't go to Iowa to start next season, AA might not be the direction he misses in. That's true. I could see him having a monster spring.

  5. Bryant to Daytona is official.
  6. Rosscup is very solid. But I don't even think he is a better relief prospect than Cabrera. Probably not even Black either, once that move becomes permanent. I was working on a list with him in the 23-27 range, but I still have Szczur slightly higher. Still think there is some projection with Szczur, while Rosscup is a 7th/8th inning reliever at best. Not a bad thing, but not a SP or potential everyday player, which Szczur still has a very slight chance to be. Think I may have them at 22-23 right now actually in my rankings.
  7. Fwiw, I thought Bushrod gave up more pressure than Webb during the game on Friday. Just watched it last night. On the sack Webb gave up, Bushrod was getting help from the TE (Maneri). He may have been getting the help because he gave up pressures the 2 previous plays. Granted he recovers much better than Webb when he gets beat to get his QB hit....and doesn't get tossed aside like JMarcus.
  8. Bryant's streak is at 15....first inning single.
  9. How many more years do we have to play this game with Webb before they finally realize he has talent but is wildly inconsistent and is bad more often than good? I mean we dump Williams and Carimi, first round picks with bigger cap hits like nothing but Webb gets chance after chance. He obviously at least has great size and some practice talent if Lovie, Tice, Trestman, etc. all saw him as 1st team at one/most points, but he's just gotta be a terrible film study & effort guy to blow away these chances. Well this is his last chance. Webb is a FA after this season. And as sad as it is....he really has been much better than Williams or Carimi.
  10. Long was with the 1s also. The plan is for both he and Mills to get time with the starters. Also Jay threw another INT on the first pass of practice.
  11. To a dude that had 9 in his career in 1200+ career ABs.
  12. That is his twitter handle. So, he actually made it up himself.
  13. I want to say it's there for advanced draft picks who are playing in lower levels to get used to pro ball and they're almost ready for High-A/AA when the season ends? No Baez? Considering he could make an impact in the majors as soon as next season, I want him facing as much high level pitching as possible before then. He went last year and got hurt there. He's faced plenty of high level pitching so far in AA. Will get plenty of work in spring training and AAA next year. He's had a full year also, and I don't think u want to risk burning the kid out. I don't get what the part in bold has to do with anything. Anyway, I want him there too. I guess the not wanting him to burn out argument is valid, but I think the value of the experience (especially now that he's more advanced than last year) outweighs that. What would he be doing if he didn't go? I didn't point out that he got hurt in the AFL to point out any kind of injury risk by sending him there. Merely to point out that he was sent thete before and it didn't work out. He could go again , but he's going to have 600 milb ABs this year. A full spring with the ML team (I assume) next year. I think its more important to rest him and keep an eye on him all winter with instructs, workouts ot otherwise.

  15. Eh. Edwards is probably the only one that matters. Maybe a month ago, but Maples has been owning lately. 18 IP, 15 H, 2 ER, 16/6 K/BB, 2.40 GO/AO He's doing it in a short season league, as a 21 year old, in his 3rd year as a professional since being drafted (granted he has been injured). This good stretch MAY get him in the backend of my personal top 25 by the end of the year.
  16. I'm hoping one of these guys goes Mike Trout and is elite right away. Likely would have to be Baez or Bryant. I think all these guys are locks to at least get a shot at the majors at some point. It all depends on how they handle it.
  17. Eh. Edwards is probably the only one that matters.
  18. Almora has only played in 6 more games than Soler. He'll be at Instructs otherwise, they'd basically be deciding between Instructs or challenging him against more advanced pitching. Also might want Soler and he to play together because they're familiar with each other (and Almora is bilingual). Yeah I know the games played aren't much different, but Almora is much younger. He's much more familiar with playing baseball in the United States. He doesn't need the reps to get comfortable in the OF. Even his BB rate has improved. That's not to say he doesn't need work on things, but there's plenty of time for him and he has time more on his side than Soler. His game is also closer to where it should be at this point of his development. I won't complain if he goes to the AFL, but it doesn't really seem necessary for a kid that hasn't even seen high A yet.
  19. I really wouldn't mind Almora NOT playing in the AFL. Sure he missed some time, but he's not necessarily a guy that needs the work to hone his craft. Won't be learning a new position. Soler definitely could use the work though, given his injury came later in the year.
  20. Does examine mean cast is off, dr. Says bone is healed? Maybe couple weeks in AZ and get into some games the last week and a half. Good news is that even though Soler has missed 6 weeks....he's only missed like 4 games for Daytona.
  21. Alcantara RBI forceout. Baez followed with an RBI single (first pitch).
  22. Thought I read before he could possibly handle 2B. He's not huge to the point that he's inflexible. But he's also not a former SS, so it could be completely foreign to him. I think he does compare some to Edgardo Alfonzo who made the move from 3B to 2B. But he's still behind Alcantara there, LOL.
  23. And Baez K's swinging. He's had a couple terrible ABs this week with the bases loaded.
  24. Bases loaded, RBI single for Alcantara, Baez comes up for the 2nd time in the inning with the bases loaded, this time. 1 out.
  25. Yeah, so Bostic needs to be the opening game starter at /MLB.
