  1. I think the Bears need to limit Peppers' snaps. Get Paea healthy and you have to play the young guys (Cohen, Tupuo, Minter) inside. Peppers should never be inside. It just takes too much out of him. More is going to be more the rest of the way. 25-30 snaps each for Peppers, McClellin, and Bass/Washington outside. Paea is going to have to go 75-80% of the snaps inside with the young guys splitting time at the other spot. Wootton should get 70% of the snaps at DE and 15% or so inside. Hes's young (unlike Pep) and capable to handle that workload (unlike most of the DL roster).
  2. Bears better not lose to the Ravens. They're ass.
  3. Looks like a broken leg for Cobb. Helmet right in tibia.
  4. Man, we've e-known each other for a long time. I remember when Raisin was in college, now married. Tim was in Southern California. CT was like a toddler.
  5. The worst good game ever.
  6. Looked like a torn ACL for Johnny Football.
  7. He's in my conversation. Also my Heisman winner right now.
  8. Williams was relegated to being a 2 down LB was he not? Anderson was getting the Nickel snaps. I'm kind of excited to see if Bostic can make some standout plays at MLB. If we're gonna take an injury hit, I'd rather it be at LB then CB or DE. Yeah, what's the worst that can happen? The Defense is already bad. Maybe he can spark with some hits and create some turnovers.
  9. Yeah that one was bad. The thing that killed me in that game was when the Bears were at the 1 yard line, Cutler jumped over the pile and extended the ball just over the goal line before being stripped and losing the fumble. Inexplicably Lovie didn't challenge despite it clearly crossing the line before the fumble. I think he had an idiotic low reward challenge in the game that really magnified his challenging ability. Edit: Oh yeah that's what it was. The play before the goal line fumble was a 48 yard pass to Earl Bennett. I believe he stepped out at the 1 yard line and it was clear that he was out of bounds. Lovie challenged it, was denied, and then the goal line fumble happened, and Lovie didn't challenge, even though he still had one left. Bears end up losing by 3. Yep. I remember the situation being a challenge that either left them 1st/goal from the 1 or a TD, and then he didn't challenge a play that resulted in either a TD or the other team now has the ball. So dumb. I was never a big "fire Lovie at all costs" guy, but that was the most fireable game in his tenure. Sickening game. Unfortunately, I think the other games mentioned in this thread are probably "worse" losses because they were later in the season.
  10. On that deep ball that was missed the announcers talked about Alshon making an awkward final step, but when I was watching it live it looked to me that he had his man beat by a few steps, but the ball was slightly underthrown, forcing him to slow down and then get a little tangled up while the defender caught him. The next one was a big overthrow. I think Jay had a nice game but those incomplete deep passes were more on him than Alshon. Yeah, he made some bad deep throws. I didn't even think his throwaways (deep corner of endzone to Bennett, backshoulder attempt to Bennett, deep sideline to Jeffery after the Garza hold) were throwaways. Just didn't have the deep ball touch going.
  11. Positive grade in pass coverage. Kinda goes to what I was saying about Bostic. Everyone sucked on run D. I thought he was better than Williams, who was consistently out of position. I'll rewatch the game and see what I think 2nd time thru.
  12. FWIW, I hated the Alshon Jeffery pick. I thought best case scenario was he was too much like Marshall. I wanted a faster WR like Reuben Randle or Stephen Hill. If I was the GM last year, the Bears would have Mercilus and Randle. I wasn't a Chandler Jones fan (wrong), but we'd have an upgrade at DE and a downgrade at WR based on those picks.
  13. It was his first draft pick, and it sucked, no doubt. But it looks like he might've hit a home run with the Kyle Long pick, another one that was....debated. Plus there's been some good non-first round picks as well. If we're holding Emery accountable for a bad pick, he's got to get credit for the good ones as well. The Long pick is different. Long was regarded as the next best pick at the Guard position. While he was drafted too early, he wasn't asked to make a position switch or to change his body type to be successful. However, if you're a fan of the BPA approach, Emery failed here too because Sharrif Floyd would a clear cut top 10 pick that fell and Dline was still a need. Also it's safe to say that the 2012 draft as a whole was pretty bad. Alshon is the only saving grace and if he somehow doesn't turn out to be an above average player, then the draft class would be an utter disaster. Isaiah Frey has a chance to be a good starting CB. Based on what? He had a great training camp since being waived and brought back on the practice squad and hasn't really stood out as a nickel although I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. He had a few really bad missed tackles last night. Frey has had a really solid year. He held his own vs. Cruz in the slot last night (All his catches came on the outside). Gave up nothing vs. NO. I think he could be a solid starter at some point, though he might have found a good niche. I would say he's been clearly better than Hayden was at nickel last year, and probably about as good as DJ Moore was at his best. He'll get tested in Green Bay in a few weeks though.
  14. He's not a lost cause yet. And he's actually probably played the run better than the past so far. But he's clearly proven to me that he's a 25-30 snap per game player. He can't hold up for 45-50 plays. I wonder if some wide-9 formations might help him. Getting him a good 3 yards outside of the tackle and letting him go straight downhill at the QB.
  15. FWIW, Bostic played a lot of the 2nd half and all of the 4th quarter last night. I thought he looked pretty good. He made a couple plays on Jacobs on 0-1 yard runs. And it looked like he plugged the hole a couple times to make Jacobs bounce his fat ass outside (where nobody else was to tackle him). The first play after the Williams injury was in the nickel (Anderson was out too) and he did an excellent job getting depth and taking away the seam. Of course it was the 3rd down play that Nicks was wide open on near the sidelines and Bowman missed the tackle resulting in a 30-or-so-yard gain. On the downside, Bostic played on a 3rd and short (4 LB set) formation and got eaten alive as Jacobs busted thru the line. I actually think he may be more effective in the pass game at this point because he can use athleticism over his brain right now.
  16. Yeah, I don't have any problems with the offense other than the playcalling on 3rd down, primarily. The Forte run on the 1st drive. The WR screen, when the quick slant was there all night. The "big" formation on 3rd and 1 with the time running and you had to completely take out Britton, Fiametta, Bush, and Rosario without wasting a TO. I'm hoping the bye week clears a lot of this stuff up. Lots of points left on the board. Trestman hasn't been bad, but it's almost like he has to get used to the NFL again. I really would like it if he wasn't calling the plays and coaching. I understand why it's hard to do both. Seems like he's more focused on playcalling than figuring out down/distance/situation type of stuff. But I'm still confident the Bears can beat the teams even with them at home and they can beat the teams worse than them anywhere. That means the only games they should really struggle to win are both GB games, and at least they get 2 weeks off before the first one. Detroit comes to Chicago. Baltimore isn't that good. Ditto for Dallas (though, I've always thought they might lose that one looking at the schedule). They are better than Minnesota, Cleveland, Philly and Washington.
  17. Short right was covered with Jeffery and Marshall on that 3rd and 4.
  18. Dude. But he pushed Webb a couple years ago. ......on national TV!
  19. Yeah there was nothing particularly encouraging about this game. The offense looked good but how do you gauge yourself when you are playing against a defense this awful and injury ridden? They are awful but mostly healthy on D. Missing just 2 CBs.
  20. This game was a dumbass.
  21. Bears never toss right.
  22. Jesus took the wheel! So glad the Giants suck.
