  1. He's an amazing athlete. Top 15 pick in his future.
  2. IU good: -shot 45/55 from the FT line (school record for makes) -13 blocked shots (1 shy of school record) -6 players in double figures -26% fg allowed -62-36 rebound advantage IU bad: - 8 assists on 27 baskets - 17 turnovers - 1 of 8 from 3pt range, and I don't think they hit any other jumpshots all game
  3. Of course he is. He just had his best game as a Bear. Showmanship!
  4. Florida has a shot. This is their game of the year. Big rivalry game. A traditionally good team with a shot to play ultimate spoiler. They suck on offense, but have a lot of talent on D, especially back half. Expect FSU's closest game, but I think they'll pull it out.
  5. Only player that really interests me for Oregon is Hroniss Granu the center. Lokombo is interesting at LB, I guess. Stanford has a lot of talent of interest. What about that Skov kid? I like Skov - he's so much better than last year (when he was still recovering from an ACL tear) but the Bears don't need an MLB. The guy I really like is DE Trent Murphy, who I imagine will get picked in the back half of the first round. They have a few other intriguing guys (including injured DT Ben Gardner and S Ed Reynolds). I also really like CB Alex Carter but he's only a sophomore. But then again, they all go to Stanford so how tough can they really be? 100% on everything. Murphy is definitely someone I think will be a possiblity to the Bears, especially if they are a playoff team and draft in the early-to-mid 20s. Maybe not so much at 18 or so they'll draft if no playoffs.

  7. I doubt that, too. Nope, I'm pretty serious. I don't think we're going to be .500 in the next two years. Too far away, too little interest and/or resources in closing the gap quickly. Yeah, not sure why this sounds crazy to people. It's pretty clear they are not going to be .500 in 2014 based on what we're hearing (Shark, Castro traded, no money for Tanaka). And it would take a pretty big offseason and quick development of former prospects at the MLB level to get there in 2015 based on what 2014 looks like at this point.
  8. I thought Bostic was good. The 2 biggest runs came at Anderson and Greene. As for center....I would re-sign Garza for 2 years but plan on having him 1 while you develop his replacement, be it the guy they already have or a draft pick.
  9. Mannelly has a bad ankle. Week-to-week.. bears signed some dude to longsnap this week.
  10. I'm great with Peanut as a safety. Less enthused about Frey as CB. An early round CB to replace Tillman would be my choice. Alterraun Verner is a free agent this coming offseason. :) I hate spending on FA CBs. But Verner is pretty good and still young. Unfortunately, he's having a great year and will be pretty expensive. I'd probably just as soon re-sign one of the current CBs and draft 2 guys (need a starter opposite side, and depth as Bowman and McManis are FAs too).
  11. [expletive] great reference. Jackie Brown is so underrated, especially in Samuel L isms.
  12. I'm guessing the "Cutler plans to start Sunday" stuff came out of potential desperation. The Bears season was over with losses in both these games. I think that the Cutler stuff was put out there pregame Monday so it didn't seem desperate if McCown [expletive] the bed. I'd probably bet decent money that Cutler sits 1 more week.
  13. Shea mother [expletive] McClellin is NFC defensive player of the week.
  14. Sorry to non-IU fans Just watched the 2nd exhibition game. Man does this IU team remind me of a typical Michigan St. team, particularly more recent teams. Really like Devin Davis. It was mentioned on the broadcast after I thought it, but he physically reminds me of Draymond Green. Really well built kid, good athlete, who can do a lot of different things on the court. I don't think he'll have the offensive impact Green had later in his career, but he looks to be the best defender on the team and is probably the best rebounder at 6'7". Can shoot a little and put it on the floor some. Probably an undersized 4, like Green, but I think he's going to be a solid player by next season. Troy Williams looks to be our Raymar Morgan. Raw athlete, that will show flashes but doesn't look like a superstar like some will expect. Vonleh looks very comparable to an Adrian Payne type player, down to the lefthandedness. Robinson = Summers. As the season goes on, I think IU will be able to rebound with anyone. Perea looks much better on D and the boards. Vonleh can board. Then you'll get a lot of boards from the wings. Started 4 players 6'7" or bigger tonight. And 7-8 of the 10-11 man rotation will be 6'6" or taller. Not going to be a great shooting team just like many MSU good teams, but will be long on defense and create some tough shots and clog passing lanes. Offense will go as the PG goes, again like MSU teams. Ton of pressure on Yogi to hit shots or get the ball to people in a position to make shots in the half court. I think Crean will consistently go a legit 10 deep on most nights. I see no reason to not play anyone on the 2-deep depth chart right now. I don't like Hollowell as the point forward when Yogi is out, though he could be an asset at the top of a zone if he doesn't have to put the ball on the floor too much. If these guys stay together, they should be a really good team next year. Could be elite 8/final 4 good if guys find their roles and everyone develops quickly. As for this year, probably going to be inconsistent. May take a bad loss or two. Probably not going to shoot well enough to pull off any major upsets. 24th best team is probably about right.
  15. I'd take the 3 seed. Miss SF in the 1st round. Then I'd rather go to NO than Seattle. Then I'd imagine a decent shot to host the NFC championship game if SF can get by an inferior Dallas team and win a division playoff game on the road.
  16. Joe Anderson to IR. I'd like them to take a look at safety Michael Huff who was recently cut by the Ravens.....but I doubt they have the money.
  17. FWIW, Bears cut Zach Minter to make room for Jay Ratliff. Figured he'd be gone since he didn't dress last night over Christian Tupou. Practice squad candidate.
  18. Yes. He's been below average outside of week 1 (and maybe 2, i don't remember). But I can handle a 5th round rookie being below average when the rest of the line has been pretty solid. His below average isn't J'Marcus Webb bad and completely whiffing on blocks. Plus, if there's going to be pressure coming from 1 place, you want it off the right edge of a RH QB.
  19. Hope the Lions play stupid. Because they are a really tough matchup for the Bears. The defense is actually significantly worse than when they last played, and Calvin is healthier. No reason they shouldn't be able to run and pass all over the Bears. Bears can score with them, but can't turn the ball over.
  20. Unless Cutler comes back and wins a championship, I don't see a long-term deal. Emery probably won't offer a deal in the Romo range. Cutler won't accept less than in that ballpark. I think we'll know what they think of Cutler long-term by WHEN they draft a QB.
  21. Oh and I don't agree that the Bears only won because Rodgers got hurt. If Rodgers doesn't get hurt, they probably don't go after 2 punt blocks, they probably don't onside kick. The 8-man boxes were hurting the Bears more as they (Wright) were getting out of their gaps and getting gashed. Rodgers wasn't anything special on the first drive he was in there. And has historically struggled (comparatively vs. the Bears). He still was missing his receivers. No Finley made a huge difference. No Cobb as an easy slot outlet to the backup QB. Jones wasn't healthy at all. It still would have been tough for him to dominate thru the air. And maybe they would have even gotten away from the run with Rodgers in there.
  22. Yeah, he should have benched for Steltz. It's hard to decide which safety was worse. Wright tackled like a child. He had the chance to make a lot of tackles for little or no gain and either missed the tackle, got lost in the blockers, or just went to the wrong gap. Conte's failures were letting 10-yard gains turn into 30-50 yard gains. Conte had more lapses in coverage too.
  23. Agreed. Before this game I thought the Bears were destined for 6-10, 7-9. Now I think they could finish anywhere from 8-8 to 10-6 Naw, they were never going to finish that bad with the teams left on the schedule. 8 wins was probably the minimum, even with McCown playing multiple games. The issue for me was always winning this and the next game. If they didn't win 1, the season was over basically.
  24. Oh and guys....I told ya so! WOOO!
  25. That's all Trestman. Bears lose this game with Lovie as HC. Rodgers or not. Lovie's henchmen of an OC would have dumbed down the offense. Would not have gone for 4th down.
