  1. Relax. Barrett was a good hitting catcher and the pitchers had an ERA of over 5 with him as a catcher, while Blanco/Hill saw an ERA of around 2.00. Besides, they have been winning since they traded Barrett. They have been winning in spite of the catchers terrible offense. Didn't Hill throw one into center that kept that inning alive that turned into the 3 runs for the Pirates, too? Hill's defense is also horrid. We traded away the worst catcher in the division for the worst in the world. We didnt trade Barrett for hill, though. But I agree. Barrett was having a bad year. But he was still hitting far better than Bowen and Hill combined. And, yes, barrett's defense was pretty bad, but Hill and Bowen havent shown they are too much better. I'd wager that Barrett would have thrown out that baserunner today. Actually, he wasnt. I can remember several times when he would whiff at a pitch in the strike zone that the batter didnt swing at. Barretts shorcomings have been obscured by a myriad of other problems though...that and he has always been given the benefit of the doubt by reporters since he has been a stand up guy. I think Barrett was a quality person but a liability as a catcher. see Koyie Hill and Rob Bowen Again, Ill defer to the Cubs ERA without Barrett vs when he caught. I wouldn't if I were you. Not going to tell you much of anything. We should have a "CERA is Worthless" sticky. I didnt realize pitching and defense was unimportant. But whatever. Dont let me stop you guys from piling on. Huh?
  2. Eh, at least the Brewers are going to lose. Maybe the Cubs can remember how to hit homeruns over the allstar break. I still feel pretty good going into the break.
  3. YES the nickname is catching on Really nice work by you. I use this all the time in my day to day life.

  5. Is that right field wall regulation size or what!?!
  6. Really glad we got that catcher thing all figured out early this year.
  7. I think Theriot was bunting for a hit. Horrible call by the ump.
  8. Maybe people are recognizing a pattern or something with Hill. Guys are sitting on that curveball when it comes in. They know it's coming.
  9. Hah, why am I not surprised that suddenly made an appearance? And that it's no big deal that Hill sucks. Again. and it's no big surprise that hill's biggest critics are reveling in the poor start, and ridiculing those who think he's a good pitcher. I'm not ridiculing anyone, and I certainly don't revel when a Cubs pitcher has a bad start. Oh please: Don't worry, Truffle will find a way. Funny that he calls out abuck for showing up when he himself just shows up to revel in Hill's outing and shove it in people's faces. So is giving up 6 runs to Washington part of my roll? I guess. I bet you do. Ok.

  12. Hah, why am I not surprised that suddenly made an appearance? And that it's no big deal that Hill sucks. Again. Cause abuck is dusty to Rich Hill's Shawn Estes. Lol. that doesn't make sense. Don't stop him. He's on a roll.

  14. actually, 4.32 ERA is above average and 1.17 WHIP is well above average for NL pitchers in the month of June, but I guess I can't dispute the May portion of your poorly-constructed argument. Wow you got me there. 4.32 is just dominating the league average of 4.19 (a) NL average ERA is 4.27 (b) NL average ERA in June was 4.55 Comparing Rich Hill's June ERA to the ERA of the league for the entire season seems to be a nice way of selectively choosing data to back up your point. btw, this game is over. At least we took two out of three. It's ok to acknowledge that Rich is struggling.
  15. That's just misfortune. It really has nothing to do with Rich.
  16. Why don't you tell us what you think? Seriously, you need to install an internal flood filter. This is getting ridiculous.
  17. Wow, a lot of chicken little going on in here. Does everyone expect the Cubs to win every single game from here on out?
