  1. People still like Orton?
  2. Find a way to win, now? It used to be "run away with the game." You are missing that everyone has made in this thread. Quarterbacks don't play average against the Bears. They don't. The Bears have the best Passing D in the NFL by a wide margin. They have held opposing QB's to a 54 QB rating. They have the #1 DVOA against the pass. Opposing QB's play terribly against the Bears because they are good. Do you get it yet? You're acting like an average QB preformance is easy to acheive against the Bears. It's not. It wasn't the Vikings making the QB look bad, it was the Bears. It's been happening all year. You say if you had average production out of the QB position you would have "run away with the game". Well whoop de do! If my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle! Almost no one has had average QB production against the Bears. What does that tell you? The Bears don't ALLOW average QB production and that's why you didn't win the game. You're whole sour grapes schtick here is pretty sad.
  3. You are delusional. He would have been lucky to take one step forward before losing his head. False. I have it on DVR and just slowed it down right now. Duggan is at the 34 yard line when the ball bounces off his pads. Briggs is 6 yards behind him, just across the 40. Vasher is at the 36, but about 7-8 yards toward the sideline. The safety is all the way upfield at the 25. He had 5 yards before he got hit by anyone and I doubt Vasher was going to knock him out, nor was Briggs when he was chasing him from behind. Do you think players instantaneously make catches and turn up field? Do you not realize how notoriously effective the Bears closing speed is? Seriously, you're in dream land. Your team got the crap kicked out of it by a team with a QB playing like a high schooler. Oh they did? I had absolutely no idea. Wow, that really stung deep. That's a zinger. You said he would have been lucky to take one step before losing his head. That's totally wrong and has nothing to do with the Bears beating the Vikings. No I don't think players instantaneously make catches and turn up field. I do think they can get up field rather quickly when they're ALREADY turning their shoulders as the ball clanks off their pads. Do you think players instantaneously turn and get 7 yards up field while hitting the reciever in one motion? Apparently. I guess I didn't know Nathan Vasher could cover 7 yards in one step from a guy who was already turning his shoulders upfield. I didn't know Lance Briggs was going to cover 6 yards in one step and knock his head off from behind. I didn't know their safety was going to cover 10 yards with a single step and knock his head off either. You're right, I really underestimated the "notoriously effective" closing speed of the Bears. Even though I've never seen any of those above things happen in my life of playing and watching football, I just haven't been watching these superhuman Bears. Foolish me. Who cares about this play? You're clinging to it like it actually means something.
  4. I was there again last night. Pretty hard to get pumped up during such an arse whooping. The dunk for the free bigmac was the KEYNESS!
  5. Amazing that the Bears have the best Passing Defense in the NFL by a wide margin considering all it takes is an average QB to shread them.
  6. There you go. Instead of actually discussing anything or providing reasons for why I'm wrong, go back to the usual sarcastic responses. That really is impressive and intelligent. No Duggan was not about to get put in the hospital. Get out a tape or DVR recording and watch that play again. He was wide open and had 5 yards of room. What's there to discuss? You have overblown every aspect of the game to favor the Vikings. Why can't I do the same? You say "People were open all day" then reference one play where a ball was overthrown. I question this and you say "I was AT the game" like my opinion is now somehow invalid. Guess what? I've been to about 6 games this year and there is a guy open on about 70% of all passing plays. If a QB is being rushed, can't get the ball to them, and then throws an interception, that doesn't = bad defense. A Vikings homer is saying that people were wide open all over the field and an "average" QB would have shreaded the Bears. Excuse me if I take that with a grain of salt while also considering the following things: Bears Passing Defense: #1 in INT's #2 in YPG #1 in YPA #1 in DVOA by a WIDE margin. #1 in TD allowed #4 in completion % allowed. #1 in QB rating allowed. Do I need to go on here? Seriously? Act like the Bears got lucky on pass defense all you want. You're wrong. Act like the Manning Jr. INT was just a bad throw when Manning jumped the route. Again, wrong. Ok, we get it. One guy dropped a pass and it was picked off but stop trying to act like that was par for the course on Sunday. It wasn't. Yes, the Bears had issues in rush defense. They have had issues this year since losing Mike Brown. They were on the field for 40 mins. Even the best defense is going to give up yards somewhere after 40 mins. If dogging the Bears defense is making you feel better about the game, well keep doing it, I guess.
  7. I'm sure DVOA will validate the level of play for the Bears defense.
  8. Were you at the game? Yes they did. I probably shouldn't have said "all day", but when they were and Johnson had time, he still missed them. The one time he saw the man wide open, he overthrew Marcus Robinson streaking down the sideline uncovered inside the 20. Our recievers also dropped 8 passes yesterday. You're right, the Bears did get pressure and that was impressive. But he wasn't pressured on the Manning INT for 6. What pressure caused the INT that went off Duggan's pads? He had plenty of time and Duggan was wide open. I'll give you the other two although he had completely escaped the pressure on the first INT. On the final INT he was almost pulled down, escaped and threw it 5 yards over the head of Chester Taylor who was standing 5 yards away. I just wouldn't be that excited about that defensive performance if I were you. The Vikings without a doubt have the worst WR corps in the league and now have a QB that is playing as badly as anyone in the league. Look at what our offense has done in previous weeks and compare it with yesterday. By the time the RMJ INT came, Johnson was feeling pressure regardless of whether it was there. Duggan was about to get put in the hospital, which is why he gave up the ball. No, no no no. He was STREAKING down the field. Bears, lucky again. If the Vikings had a quarterback who hit 100% of open receivers, they totally would have won. Allowing only 13 points, forcing 6 turnovers, and scoring a tocuhdown does not a defense make, guy. I was AT the game. AT it!
  9. No it really doesn't. It shows you how incompetent Brad Johnson was and has been. Your defense really wasn't very impressive yesterday. It was a result of Brad Johnson being incredibly bad and poor play-calling on the part of Childress more than any great defensive performance. We completely gashed you on the ground all day long. Our three running backs had 31 carries for 187 yards (6 yards a carry). Ciatrick Fason had 1 carry all year and he had 75 yards on 11 carries yesterday, and his long was only 14. Chester Taylor gashed you, Fason gashed you and Moore gashed you. Holes were there all day long and the Bears tackling was poor. For some inexplicable reason, Childress went away from it. Second half play-calling was awful. We carried it 5 times for 25 yards in the opening drive of the second half. Then Harris went out. Then we get the INT and the ball across midfield where we throw an INT on 1st down. Oh well, defense gets the ball back down 7-6 midway through the 3rd. We bust runs of 13, 13 and 6 setting up 2nd and 4 at your 45. Instead of staying on the ground we nearly throw a pick and then Manning takes the next pass back for 6. We get the ball back down 14-6 and throw on 1st down again, right to Urlacher. Honestly look at the turnovers you forced, it was Johnson handing you the ball. One was a pass to a wide open tight end (in field goal range) who let the ball bounce off his pads into the air for an interception. Another was Johnson throwing a dump pass 8 yards too long to Urlacher. The first one was thrown right to a safety with no one in the vicinity. The Manning one was just Johnson being clueless. Wow that was a long rant. You're right, the Bears defense and special teams never make plays and that was all about Johnson. Yeah because that's clearly what I was saying. Way to avoid all the points about awful quarterbacking and poor play calling and just come back with a sarcastic one-liner though. So you were impressed by your defense being repeatedly gashed yesterday by a struggling offensive line and a running back who had 1 carry on the year? You're impressed by giving up 6 yards a carry and nearly 200 yards AT HOME to a team that hadn't sniffed that kind of success all year? If you want to puff your chest out about how great your defense is because we have maybe the only starting QB worse than Grossman right now, then go ahead, it's just wrong. The INT to Duggan was a great defensive play, wasn't it? Yeah we had our 3rd-string TE streaking across the 30, wide open but somehow you caused the ball to bounce off his pads straight into the air for a pick. If the Vikings have a quarterback even close to league average, they run away with that game yesterday. You keep pointing to one play like it was typical of every play. It wasn't. All other turnovers were forced by the Bears. Sorry bud, better luck next year.
  10. Since Griese is not immune to mistakes and far from a guarantee for the Bears to win the SB, I think I'd rather Grossman just start playing better. I agree that Griese isn't immune to mistakes. I do think he'd be more likely to avoid games like: 14/37 144 0TD 4 INT 2 Fumbles lost 18/42 210 1TD 3 INT 1 Fumble lost 15/34 176 0TD 3 INT 6/19 34 0TD 3 INT Those games are just incomprehensibly brutal.

It was a result of Brad Johnson being incredibly bad and poor play-calling on the part of Childress more than any great defensive performance. We completely gashed you on the ground all day long even though the Bears were repeatedly bringing an 8th man into the box. We had recievers open all day but Johnson either missed them, threw a poor pass or they dropped it. Wow that was a long rant. You did not have "receivers open all day" that is just completely absurd. I like how you left out how pressure caused almost every Johnson interception.
  12. Lovie has, for the most part, been pretty good about cutting bait. I think he's given more leeway to Grossman for perfectly acceptable reasons, and I think he's given more leeway to Jones because of how the locker room feels. In the case of the RB, I think he's just biding his time, knowing that a relatively unscathed Benson would be a big plus for the playoffs, and that Jones is susceptible to getting banged up. Lovie said many of the same things he's saying now about Orton last year. But he didn't hesitate to make a change when it was time. I think a stinker from Rex could be enough for Lovie to make a move. I read his anger in the postgame talk being directed more at Rex putting him in that position than at the media members who actually asked the questions. A ho-hum game (with a win), probably will be enough for Rex to keep his job though. I think you are probably right. Lovie has shown he knows the right time to cut bait. One of the things that is frustrating me here is that I'm not sure what I WANT to happen? Would I rather have Griese come in to bring some consistancy? Rex has completely crapped the bed too many times for me to be comforable with him in the playoffs now. I think playing Rex would be better in the long term but the team is ready to win NOW. I'm torn.
  13. I'm kind of confused, now. I feel like Lovie has to change QB's with another stinker from Rex. Yet on the other hand, he seems to be backing Rex vehemently. I'm not so sure he'll make the change.
  14. I definitely would not use such a threshold for keeping the job. Grossman should HAVE to be good this week to keep the job. Bad Rex = Early playoff exit for the Bears. I'm becoming less and less convinced that the good Rex was anything but a flash in the pan. I agree he has to be good, but I don't see how using QB rating as the determining factor makes any sense. What if he throws a meaningless hail mary int before half that costs him the rating but otherwise has a good game? Or what if the INT is a WR's fault? QB rating is a flawed tool, but it does take into account a lot of what the QB needs to do to be successful. I was using it more to indicate that Rex has to have, what I think, is an above average game. An 85 rating would classify as a hair above average, in my opinion. The Bears are in a position where if they make a move, they should do it by the end of the next game or not at all. If they have homefield locked up, I doubt the regulars will see any signifigant work in the last game. That means they would have only 2 games to get Griese ready for playoff action. While I do think that Griese will be able to get acclimated quickly, I'd still like him to have as much time as possible to get ready. That being said, I think it would require a better than average game to keep Rex as the QB. Edit: I'd also like to add that, this isn't what I think Lovie will do, it's what I would do.
  15. "No Business?" How? Maybe you think UM is better but I doubt it's a big enough gap to think that Flordia has "No Buisiness" being the National Championship game.
  16. 1 more game for Grossman. Must put a QB rating of over 85 to keep the job. Go.
  17. Nobody is saying "we" were terrible. Grossman was terrible. I took issue with people saying Grossman was terrible in the Jets game. They acted as if they won in spite of Rex trying to lose the game. That was not the case. But this game was different. It just shows you how much more impressive the defense and special teams are that they could win by that much with such bad QB play. Sean Salisbury said that the Bears aren't the best defense in the league any more.
  18. Well, there's nothing you can do about the schedule. It would be a bad idea to go into the playoffs with a guy playing as poorly as Rex has been of late. I'd feel much more comfortable giving Griese 3 games against subpar competition than going into the playoffs with Rex playing a string of bad games. It's not like Griese is a rookie either. If he's not ready to play with 3 games under his belt then he's got the wrong job.
  19. What he said. don't you get it he stinks so it's funny to pretend he's awesome lol
  20. I think we'll see a senario similar to last year. Rex has a half to pull himself together before he's benched on MNF (SNF last year Orton was benched). I don't know what his deal is. Is he a total headcase? I'm starting to think so. How one could have such highs followed by such lows is beyond my comprehension.
  21. Wow. Lovie actually broke his robot facade in the press conference. He was angry!
  22. I'm not sure if benching Rex will be good in the long term but the Bears can't have play like that from the QB position. I'm not sure what to do because I'm perplexed. How could you be that bad when you have been so good? Don't get it.
