  1. Man, not sending Nico felt like a big mistake at the time against a guy like this... And it was.
  2. Alzolay is doing his best to give up more dingers.
  3. The whole "wanted to do radio" always seemed a bit fishy. I know everything Len said about radio, but did he REALLY prefer to do radio, or was that just the job that was conveniently open after a falling out with the Cubs?
  4. The velocity is really concerning. I guess we can hope for a minor mechanical flaw, but what else could explain the sudden drop in velocity other than an injury? If he is sitting 92-94, he becomes a much less intriguing prospect.
  5. Any word yet what is going on with Taillon? He hasn't started since 5/4 and the Cubs have Assad, Steele, and TBD lined up for the next 3 games.
  6. Ok, now tell me why the rest of the Cubs lineup is also struggling.
  7. 1 hit should have been enough. Damn you Wesneski.
  8. I am all for automated strike zone. I am NOT for a stupid challenge system.
  9. Yep, I've been in the "extend the starters" camp myself, but I didn't love sending Imanaga out for the 8th under these circumstances.
  10. Bullpen gave up 2 runs there without even entering the game.
  11. Can't complain about that.
  12. I wasn't a big fan of the 6:40 start times originally, but combine that with the pitch clock and it does make a huge difference when taking school-aged children to games.
  13. I'm pretty sure it was determined that Busch isn't eligible either because he made his debut with the Dodgers last year. Either way, we won't need to worry about that if he doesn't get things turned around fairly soon.
  14. Pat is only 68. By broadcaster standards, that isn't extremely old. If he is healthy and wants to keep doing it, there is no reason to think that he can't continue to broadcast for another 5-10 years or more. Hopefully long enough for Zach Zaidman to have found gainful employment elsewhere.
  15. On the bright side, I guess that could explain why he was getting hit yesterday. But shoulder stiffness is never a good thing to hear, especially when it's your (only) 100+ mph flamethrower. Hopefully this is nothing more than minor inflammation.
  16. *Searches for a 7 year old, generically-titled megathread to revive in the Social subforum*
  17. The other thing that is confusing about the Transactions forum is that it is now named "Cubs Transactions & Moves" What about non-Cubs transactions? Do those go in General Baseball Talk?
  18. Why can't we be optimistic? Maybe Keegan finally figured things out on the bus back to Iowa.
  19. So weird to see Utah on there.
  20. I wonder what Len's contract status is with the White Sox. I know he signed a "multiyear deal" prior to the 2021 season, so he is currently in his 4th year on the job. Does he really want to continue doing radio in obscurity while watching terrible baseball for the foreseeable future?
  21. Me: The Cubs got a baserunner. They could score a run. 7 year old son: It doesn't matter. They are losing 6-0! Me: Every run counts. Son: AS SIX??? Future NSBB'er he is.
  22. I took my son to the bathroom at Wrigley after the 5th inning. He finished in the bathroom (not a #1), we picked up a malt cup from the concession stands, and got settled back into our seats... with 0 outs in the inning.
  23. We can be mad about all the cheap hits, but none of it matters if the Cubs can't score.
