  1. I still think the Bears end up in Arlington Heights, but if that is their ultimate goal then they would seem to be in danger of overplaying their hand. In order to leverage the city stadium plan in any negotiations with Arlington Heights, there has to be a belief that the plan to build a new stadium in Chicago has legs. At this point, I don't think there is any clear path to the funding they are requesting, so they might as well be threatening to build a new stadium on the moon.
  2. True if the runner was tagging, but he wasn't. But is Happ's hamstring still that bad that he couldn't get to that ball?
  3. What a stupid question. "You talked about the coloring of the hand. Is that something you looked for as a hitter?" It would take superhuman vision to pick up slight changes in hand color while the pitcher's arm is in motion.
  4. If you have to pinch hit for your left handed "supposed" power hitting DH against a right handed pitcher, with Nick Madrigal no less, that is a problem.
  5. ESPN is the worst and I look forward to their eventual demise.
  6. Nothing but swing and miss or soft contact from Mervis since he has been back.
  7. Appreciate ESPN not following the ball on a pop-up in foul territory.
  8. Tyler O'Neill seems like a real meathead.
  9. He's still new-ish to the position, so that type of thing isn't entirely surprising.
  10. Nice to see the Red Sox getting strike calls out of the zone.
  11. I assume it was also a reference to Caleb Williams being #18, but I could be reading too much into it.
  12. I haven't been there in over 10 years, but I definitely remember it being lacking in several areas - The primary one being that the seats were designed for tiny people and anyone who is over 6 ft tall and/or over 200 lbs. can't possibly fit comfortably.
  13. "Sunday Night Baseball, from America's most beloved ballpark" Really, when they are playing the Cubs? I'm not saying Wrigley is more beloved than Fenway, but it's really hard to separate one from the other in that conversation.
  14. After what seemed like an eternity last year without a hit (it wasn't), PCA has raised his career batting average 200 points over the last 3 days
  15. That's why the city has to prepare now. In 5-10 years, they are going to be HUGE!
  16. Despite Alzolay having blown multiple saves and giving up a lot of home runs, I still feel much better about him closing games than Neris.
  17. The good news is Verlander threw a lot of pitches. The bad news is the Cubs haven't shown any ability to score off the bullpen.
  18. Some number greater than 2. But yes, he has looked bad so far.
  19. I realize there is never any going back, but I would take organ music over blaring walk-up music any day. It would be cool if the Cubs did "organ Fridays" or something like that with a more traditional ballgame music experience.
  20. 15-9 is great, but it sure feels like this is all smoke and mirrors and the injuries are going to catch up soon.
