  1. Who else ya got? Neris isn't great, but he might still be the best of the bad options. They can try Leiter, but that just means Neris pitches in the 7th or 8th instead, so what does that really change?
  2. If you build a boring team that is good, that is perfectly fine, but boring and bad is an awful combination. What compelling reason is there to watch this team?
  3. And by "everything", you mean the 2 or 3 guys who other teams would actually want.
  4. The only thing I know for sure is I don't have the patience for another Jed plan.
  5. Is he the new Rondell White?
  6. What makes this all worse for White Sox fans is they can't even root for the tank, since large market teams can't pick in the lottery for consecutive years. They are locked into the #10 spot in the first round no matter what happens from here on out.
  7. Hendricks isn't starting every 5 days anymore and he is the 13th pitcher on the roster. He is an easy scapegoat, but this team has is bad in many ways and the last guy out of the bullpen isn't going to move the needle much.
  8. For any baseball hat fanatics (no pun intended), I guess this is newsworthly. https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/new-era-cap-acquire-47-lifestyle-brand-tie-up-sources-say-2024-06-06/ They better not mess with the Franchise and Clean-Up caps! Those are usually my go-to cap styles, although I guess the '47 Clean-Up is very similar to the New Era 9TWENTY. Nothing tops the Franchise though.
  9. I don't love PCA getting semi-frequent starts over Busch right now, but I can't really complain about it either.
  10. This looks pretty much like a drop-in replacement for NBC Sports Chicago under different ownership. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/06/03/chicago-sports-network-bulls-blackhawks-white-sox/ But the part that interests me the most is the mention of games being available via OTA broadcast. Does this mean the network itself will be available OTA in the Chicago market, or will they simply be airing a smaller package of games on various other OTA channels? It is possible that nobody knows the answer to that question yet, but I am curious to see how it turns out. Having the new Chicago Sports Network available by OTA without worrying about Xfinity carriage/subscription would be awesome.
  11. I assume that is a good thing? I only watched a few games last year, but Vosters certainly didn't stand out as anything special. I don't know anything about Rick Ball either, but this would seem to be a significant upgrade.
  12. At this rate, Morel will be finishing his career with Kerry Von Erich's foot.
  13. Blow this horsefeathers team up (I know it isn't really possible). Let's sell whatever has value and see Caissie, Shaw, and others. The build up to the 2016 Cubs was fun, but this is just miserable and depressing.
  14. Not saying it was an easy play, but if he can get there and get a glove on the ball, that is a catch that should be made. There's no reason to have it simply miss the glove by a few inches, but we have seen that from Seiya on multiple occasions. He should not be a starting right fielder, just like Morel shouldn't be a starting third baseman. Loading a roster with DH's is not a formula for success.
  15. What was that TOOTBLAN doing out there? That guy could have stolen third standing up, but chose to dance around like a little leaguer and get himself picked off.
  16. I know the consensus is that Jed is safe and is playing the exact role that the Ricketts family wants, but there are really no excuses for him. This is absolutely the type of season that gets a GM fired if it continues on its current trajectory.
  17. Yan Gomes is also bad at at least 3 of those things?
  18. Or maybe they'll go 3-6. Regardless of the opponent, I have no confidence whatsoever in being able to predict the Cubs success.
  19. It has to be time to look at alternatives to Gomes. He is toast.
