Am I the only one who is irrationally bothered by the way the middle of the "8" on Caleb Williams' jersey always goes under the fold in the pads and makes him look like number 10? -
Obviously not, but blocked is blocked. It's going to be hard for anyone to get consistent playing time when there is an established starter in front of them, which the Cubs have at essentially every position except Catcher. I'm not saying you deal everyone who is currently blocked, but the Cubs have to identify which ones they want to keep and which ones to move on from, and they need to do that soon.

You have to think the Cubs wouldn't mind a comparable return for one of their similarly blocked AAA players.

I'm legitimately curious what the situation is with Grace. He shows up in the Marquee pre/post show once in a blue moon, but other than that he is never seen. He also wasn't at the Cubs HOF ceremony last Sunday, although many other former players including his fellow inductee from last year (Dunston) were there. He seems to be a bit of a black sheep in the Cubs organization, possibly for very good reasons.

I'm curious whether they think fans want this, or is it necessary to meet contractual demands? Or is it a cost-saving measure? I would rather have a lesser-tier broadcasting crew that is able to stay together every game than a better crew that frequently takes days off.

You can stop there. He shouldn't even be on an MLB roster and at this point he is just taking opportunities from young guys who could actually matter in the future.

And that, combined with the Braves and Mets winning, eliminates ANY last shred of hope. The Cubs could hypothetically win out now and it probably still wouldn't be enough.
