  1. Same here. It's not any sort of protest from me, but I just don't enjoy it. I used to see extra innings games and think "let's see how far this will go." Now I know it's going to be over in an inning or two, and usually anticlimactically.
  2. You know he's sitting at home smiling every time someone refers to the runner as the Manfred Man.
  3. If Madrigal runs a relatively straight line there, he's safe easily.
  4. I get that there needs to be a penalty or else the timer is meaningless, but I think too many at bats are starting 1-0 or 0-1. It is not the rarity that I expected it to be. Maybe there needs to be an adjustment to the rule between batters.
  5. That's a lot of trust in the rookie catcher, throwing the split with a runner in third.
  6. More of the same from the offense, and the middle of the order at that.
  7. I don't know the answer to that, but regardless I don't think that argument holds the same weight post-Covid where progression/development was delayed for so many players. Sure, I would rather he be putting up huge numbers in AAA at age 22, but for many guys that was never a possibility.
  8. Hosmer in a bench role is almost as dumb as Hosmer starting at first base. What is the point? He brings no value whatsoever off the bench. Nobody ever wants to see him entering the game as a pinch hitter in the late innings.
  9. I think an extension is extremely unlikely. Having all 3 outfielders locked up to multi-year deals doesn't leave much room for any of the minor leaguers. Nothing is a sure thing with any of the Cubs prospects, but blocking off the entire outfield for the long term would seem to go against the team's whole philosophy of building around cheap, cost-controlled talent. Prior to the Happ extension, resigning Bellinger could have been more realistic, but that was likely an either/or situation.
  10. Looking at the bright side of this Cubs team returning to mediocrity, Cody Bellinger looks like he could bring a significant return in a deadline deal. If he continues to play as well as he has, he is as good or a better hitter than any of the Cubs "Big 3" were in 2021, and a plus defender at a premium position. Is it possible he might actually net the Cubs a real top ranked prospect?
  11. I agree, but what do you do with him if he is on the Major League roster?
  12. Yeah, but at least he threw a 27 hopper to home plate.
  13. Tucker Barnhart is exactly what I thought he was.
  14. I think the leadoff bunt single probably changed the entire inning.
  15. I don't think I need to see him again after this one.
  16. Looks like it's going to be a bullpen day today.
