I would put Palencia above Cuas at this point in the circle of trust rankings -
I'm doing my part. I put money on the Reds tonight and that's usually enough to make sure they don't win.

That would suck, but you also have to consider the unlikely rise for them to get to this point in the first place. Unless we see some egregious decision-making down the stretch that costs the Cubs multiple critical games, I don't see them moving on from Ross after this season.

Man, Ross is an ass sometimes. Asked about why he took Taillon out, he said a combination of "He was done", "It's my decision right?" and "I don't need to explain."

Every time it looks the Cubs might be on the verge of a downward spiral, they come back and start winning again. I fully expect them to win the next 2 games, and 1 of the 2 at a minimum. If they get swept, then we can start to panic, but I don't think that is likely.

If the Cubs lose 1-0, I have a hard time blaming Ross for his pitching decisions. You have to at least score 1 run to win a game.

Most times I forget he is even on the team. And I'm not sure why he is. He is a pinch runner or defensive replacement and he isn't particularly good at either of those.

Ugh. Now it's less likely to get around to Bellinger in the 9th. Also, if Gomes does get on to start the inning, you can't pinch run for him because we are out of catchers.

Well, for a team with an overworked bullpen, keeping a guy in the active roster when he can't pitch for over a week isn't ideal.

Completely anecdotal take here, but does the Cubs offense struggle more than most against good defensive teams?

Yeah, I think I'm good with letting him go. He is better than what the Cubs had for this year, but not the long term answer.

My wife is at a rooftop event today and they are gonna get screwed. The rooftops must love 2 hour games, but I bet they haven't lowered their prices.

Oh well, it's just a bad night and those happen. Maybe Taillon finds the magic again tomorrow, or the Cubs offense shows up and overcomes his inevitable blow-up. The Cubs are going to lose plenty more games this year, and this was one of them.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do agree with a few of those points: The speakers can be blaringly loud. It depends a lot on where you are sitting with respect to the speaker positions, but I have one directly above my seats and it occasionally becomes very distracting and drowns out any attempt at conversation. I wish the video board would be utilized more often for replays, as that is where I find the most benefit. I do miss the traditional organ music and would much prefer that over the personalized player walk-up songs (most of which have zero appeal to me), but I also completely understand that the world has moved on and the walk-up music is never going away. With that said, I think the game experience is largely the same as it has always been. You might have to put up with a few more advertisements and you might have to go to the concession stand instead of waiting for a hot dog or peanut vendor to walk by, but the cumulative changes that have been made are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.
