  1. I think it's more a concern of the amount of water the field has already taken on. The rain will stop, but can the field be made playable?
  2. There were two rule changes I severely opposed. They were the DH and the extra innings baserunner. I have largely accepted the DH with a shrug and it really doesn't impact my enjoyment of the game one way or another. Extra innings, on the other hand, is still an abomination that I will be telling my grandkids about in 30 years.
  3. I don't know if any Cubs team has ever looked forward to an extended West Coast trip as much as the upcoming trip.
  4. Sucks that Imanaga was so efficient and will likely have to be pulled after 4 innings now.
  5. I was thinking the same thing. I don't recall seeing anything like this before with the players still on the field.
  6. Didn't they change the rule a few years back where the game just picks up where it left off instead of starting over from scratch?
  7. Good idea. He can't play 3B, so let's try him at SS instead.
  8. That was the worst ball-strike performance I've seen from a home plate umpire in quite some time.
  9. This is a tough zone for hitters. That inning, the ump was giving strikes at the bottom edge of the zone, off the outside corner, and inches above the zone.
  10. Also, Wicks was at his career high in pitches, barely a week into the season. Not the time to push him.
  11. I know Hendricks is only 34 and probably thinks he can still pitch a few more years, but I really hope he survives t his season with a semi-respectable performance and then calls it quits. I don't want to see him go somewhere else next year and continue to get beat up.
  12. How long is it going to take for Counsell to bring back the old Hendricks short leash? Even in Spring Training, it seemed like he was getting absolutely crushed past the first 3-4 innings.
  13. I know he hasn't done anything incredibly exciting, but I really like his approach at the plate so far.
  14. That seems like a really odd thing for Mastrobuoni to be upset about when he got on base as the potential winning run
  15. Oh by the way. Your cleanup hitter is now Nick Madrigal.
  16. I'm sure we won't look back at this one when the Cubs miss a playoff spot by one game.
  17. There is no reason for these to be night games. The weather is bad enough during the day in early April.
  18. Those blue shirts should have been fired into the sun a long time ago. They can go with the grays, the old blue tops, the baby blue pinstripes... any of those are significantly better choices.
  19. Tomorrow looks like a rough day weather-wise for the home opener. Does anyone know, historically, how the Cubs have handled similar home openers? The wise thing to do would be to call the game early tomorrow and play it when the weather is nicer, but are they going to try to milk the opening day crowd for as long as possible and try to find a cold, wet window somewhere during the day?
  20. I disagree. Illinois has players that are every bit as talented as the guys UConn put on the floor. The (big) difference was the one guy in the middle. For whatever reason, Illinois had no answer for him and it impacted the entire game on both ends of the floor. UConn is the better team, but despite what the score looks like, that was a winnable game.
  21. I don't know. It's legal and people have the right to bet on whatever they want to bet on, but with it being so mainstream now I worry about how many people are going to completely ruin their lives with the addiction. Yes, that has always been there, but it has been made so much easier now. And I get that you could say the same about other things, like alcohol advertising, but at least that is mostly limited to the commercial breaks. Gambling is being pushed everywhere and it is only going to get bigger.
