  1. Last year in the pen he was still pitching 97-98 MPH. This year he's been at around 90-91. That's not going to cut it in the pen.
  2. hopefully they keep starting Guzman for the rest of the year. In fact keep starting Guzman and Hill in place of Wood and Rusch. We have to see what we have for enxt year and the future.
  3. Could not agree with you more. I'm not shocked nor am I bummed. I'm glad we will be without Wood starting next year. Time to move on already! So let's see next years staff so far. Z Prior (we'll see) Marshall Everything else looks up in the air.
  4. I have no idea! To make matters worse Wood is back on the 15 day DL!
  5. Well at least next year we won't have to worry about if Wood will be healthy. He's gone. We are going to have some money to spend on pitching...
  6. Oh man...Brutal. Cubs already lost.
  7. It depends on your definition of "possibly". With the right deal, we are possibly trading for ARod and Tejada and Abreu and Cabrera. That said, I seriously doubt that happens. Carlos Lee is more likely. He is overrated, we will overpay, and he will suck when he gets here. Carlos Lee has Cubs written all over him. I can see the Cubs giving up Murton and prospects to get him this year and lock him up long term. Then of course he'll start to decline and get hurt every other month Why would they trade for him when he is a FA at the end of the year? Do you really need to ask that? Where the Cubs! 8)
  8. I'm just curious to see who goes and what we get for them...Pretty sad...

  10. LOL! Have we hit rock bottom yet?
  11. I wonder why we got Phil Nevin. Why exactly doesnt he start? Because Womack had a couple of really good games 2 weeks ago. I'm with ya! I don't see the logic in not starting him and adding more pop in that lineup. Espically against the Reds.
  12. I would think that at this point Gooz needs to pitch more. He really hasn't pitched much the past two years. And you are talking about Dusty doing something radical (for him anyway) which will never happen.
  13. I'd like him to start in the bullpen and see how does there first. Give him some mop up roles to get some sort of confidence. I remember him coming out of the bullpen last year and he looked really good.
  14. I agree. Wood could've sat out the entire year this year and still had the same problems for next year. Pitchers don't get paid 12 million dollars a year to not pitch.
  15. I just drool at the prospect of him owning the Cubs. He's the perfect person at the perfect time to own the Cubs. He would be huge in Chicago with his personality, he also has the passion and is a foward thinker. Man, I want this to happen.
  16. Maybe he realized he was pitching for the Cubs. LOL! No doubt!
  17. Oh you're hilarious. Sorry I just had to!
  18. I say it right now. Hill will never be a effective starter. There I said it and I will stand by it. I hope that I'm wrong....I really do. But he's already an effective starter at AAA, so what are you basing this on? Key word being AAA...The minors are filled with effective minor league starters who never made it in the big leagues. I think Hill will be best suited as a lefty specialist if he can gain some sort of control. What's with all this Hill love? What has he shown that leads you people to believe he'll be a good starter in the ML? A really really really big curveball. That he can't get over the plate. You want to see a good curveball that is thrown for strikes watch Marshall. He can get it over the plate in AAA. Is that minor league plate smaller? I don't think the plate is smaller, but I do believe his stones get smaller when he takes a Major League mound. It's more mental than anything Whatever it is it's not good. I remember watching him before he threw a pitch to the W.Sox he looked like he already lost. Maybe he's more of a smaller market pitcher ala florida or KC. Less pressure for the kid.

  21. Man, I hope it comes true. C'mon Cuban!
  22. He's shown me plenty in the minors, and hasn't enough opportunity in the Majors to show me much of anything. I don't know if Hill is going to be great, good or even average, but I'd like to see him get more of a chance. It's sink or swim time. I agree with you. Don't forget he's 28 years old. He's as old as Kerry Wood for god sakes! So now you're just making up ages? Oops you are right he's "only" 26. Sorry 'bout that. I thought he was older.

  24. I say it right now. Hill will never be a effective starter. There I said it and I will stand by it. I hope that I'm wrong....I really do. I agree with you, I think that Hill is nothing more than a AAA pitcher. But, I'd still rather see him start than Glendon. Hill can prove me wrong (and I hope he does), but there's no way that Glendon will just suddenly stop being a bad pitcher. I know but Hill is on 4 days rest, like I said in my previous post. Obviously when Rusch once again gets bombed tonight, then they have to fill in someone to take his place. Might as well be Hill until Prior comes back.
