    Correction: president of baseball operations. Call them what you will, but for all practical purposes, Theo will be GM and Hoyer will be Assistant GM. I don't think that's true. Why not? Whether their titles are GM and Assistant GM or President and GM, they'd still be in the same spot in the organizational hierarchy and they'd still be working mostly together, but Hoyer would be the one doing most of the grunt work. Bc Hoyer would do the GM duties and Theo would do the president of baseball ops duties. and possibly might make a run for the president of the United States.

    This thread epitomizes all that is wrong with NSBB these days. Actually, it's all that is right and lots of the posters that made it awesome years ago are coming out of the woodwork. 90% of beerhere's posts include some sort of shot at what NSBB has become. It's a shame what beerhere has become.

    how much do you think these offers vary from one to the next? everyone keeps saying that the red sox want mcnutt and the cubs won't budge. do the red sox just fax pictures of mcnutt to the cubs all day and then the cubs send back pictures of their middle fingers? (i might not have taken negotiation theory, can you tell) Fax? Is it 1999 again? They're exchanging jib jabs, I'm sure. I didn't take negotiation theory either, but it's what I did almost all day for 6 years. It's hard to say if the offers are different if the report about guys Theo can bring is accurate. It may be a lot of gamesmanship. The cubs may be out talking to other teams about FO types that they'll be bringing in, esp if Theo isn't going to be the GM. I'm sure TR knows Theo's wish list for GM candidates. i just really like the image of of ricketts and kenney and bush sitting around staring at a fax machine all day, hoping for a reasonable offer to pop out, only to see another picture of trey. i bet after like the third one randy wanted to scan his d and send that back, but tom wouldn't let him. Fax Machines? What the hell is that?

    Why? Boston has no leverage here. What are they going to do, take Theo back for 1 lame duck year? Under normal circumstances I'd agree with you, but this owner is a [expletive] nut. So who knows...

    There is really nothing out there that's like the Cubs job and he'll know we tried but Boston was trying to rob us blind. If he wants to come now he'll want to come in a year. I dont think it'll go down like that I think eventually Boston will just take what it can get. But is McNutt robbing us blind?
