  1. Look at these stats: Zambrano 12-7 3.69 Lilly 10-4 3.58 Hill 6-6 3.70 Marquis 7-5 3.92 Marshall 4-3 3.43 Every starter with a ERA under 4. That's flippin' beautiful!
  2. Nope it started with the sweep at the Cell. Right before that we had just dropped 2 of 3 at Texas, and I was wondering if I should even bother following the Cubs-Sox series. Yep. After Sammy's 600th, I figured that would be the last watchable thing about this team for the season. Then the 7 game win streak happened. It really started to roll when we blew a 8-3 lead in the 9th to the Rocks, only to come back and win the game in the bottom of the 9th. That loss would've been devastating!
  3. Just when you want to deep-six Marquis he comes up with a gem today...Great, great job by him today.
  4. more than 2003? I can't speak for him, but for me, at this point; yes. It's just so much fun to see these young guys doing the job. Christ, this is really alot of fun. GO CUBS!!!! It's a fun team to watch. I can't remember the last time we had a team that didn't rely on home-runs. 1989?
  5. more than 2003? I think in 2003 it was all about pitching. That offense in 2003 was inconsistent at best. They didn't even turn it on until the last month.
  6. can't say i blame 'em... this piss-poor lineup put up 6 runs, and our opponents have been fielding the ball like crap. But we have one of the better-fielding teams in baseball, so we're not going to be giving away many runs. I can't believe this lineup produced 6 runs today...Just amazing!
  7. FOGET THIS!!! I CANT CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT ANYMORE!!! I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!! YAHOOOOO!!!!!!!! GO CUBS GO - GO CUBS GO- HEY CHICAGO WHAT'DA SAY CUBS ARE GONNA WIN TODAY!!!!! YAHOOOOO
  8. It worries me immensely as well. :? Didn't he just start pitching 4 years ago? Not that means anything...
  9. I would have liked him to complete the 8th to give Marmol a break, but no complaints from me. Marquis was nothing short of excellent today. Just when you want to write him off he comes up with gems like this.
  10. Not good. They need to pull him after the first baserunner. That and I won't to see Howry in the 9th.
  11. That shouldn't be a surprise. The lineup sucks when Lee, Floyd, and DeRosa are all out at once. I'm shocked we got 1 run!
  12. I'd be flat-out shocked if he doesn't pitch a CG and that we get more then 1 hit off him.
  13. I love that poster! But what's it for? For what purpose does Ken Harrelson want us? Not sure. But, in 1983 or maybe '84 these posters were all over the city of Chicago. They were posted on light poles, newstands & in places like 7-11. But, I really can't remember the promotion. Wasn't it because Hawk was GM?
  14. This is going to be quick work by Webb today. Cubs are swinging early and often.
  15. Hopefully we'll make Webb work a little this inning.
  16. This is true. In 2004, when the Diamondback were absolutely awful, they still owned the Cubs. And I believe in 2003 we had trouble beating them.. which is relevant, as the rosters are exactly the same now as they were then You're not following the thread well are you?
  17. This is true. In 2004, when the Diamondback were absolutely awful, they still owned the Cubs. And I believe in 2003 we had trouble beating them..
  18. And Scott Eyre will get a save...Yeah right!
  19. That's probably rather optimistic. Carp's no spring chicken anymore, and he's had arm injuries in the past. I feel pretty comfortable saying he won't pitch meaningfully in '08, either. We're coming up on August already. I agree. '08 going to be setbacks and whatever else. Cards fans have to look to 2009.
  20. No it doesn't. Not for Cubs fans living around obnoxious Cards fans who seem to make a smart a#* remark about Wood or Prior everytime the Cubs come up in conversation. I'm openly excited about this and not assamed of that one bit. Especially after reading TT's post about how they have $30 million guaranteed next year to basically deadweight. I agree! I hate the Cards w\passion! I'm loving this...
