  1. until 3 more hours of announcing deals that have to be finalized At least there were reports by now that Nomar was almost a Cub. All we've heard about Dye is that we inquired. He won't be a Cub. Actually, it was about 3:05 when that happened. A lot of us were assuming nothing had happened when the deadline passed without word of anything happening. Some people were flipping out because we didn't even get Cabrera at that pt. Shortly thereafter, Gammons came on ESPNEWS and said that Nomar wasn't going anywhere, while a graphic on the lower right reported, "Nomar traded to the Cubs." ...or something like that. Not that anything like that is going to happen this year. So we got 5 more minutes! YIPPE!
  2. Marmol better be untouchable. I'd rather trade Pie. Don't give Jimbo any ideas. I don't want Pie traded, I just don't want Marmol traded more. ?? He wants to keep both, but he wants to keep Marmol more. ?

  4. 3 PM central Can we make this a sticky? Shhez!
  5. And I honestly don't mind it one bit. I'm absolutely giddy like a school girl about the 2007 Bears. I could care less...I'm in full-on baseball mode right now. Meh.. August = dog days. I'll still be watching every Cubs game along the way, but I won't be jacked up about baseball again until closer to September. I always tend to get excited about the upcoming seasons for my teams around camp time (spring training, training camp, etc.)... I'm jacked up everyday of the year for baseball. I'm a Cubs fan first and I'm not emotionally attached to any other sport or team.

  7. It's only HD if you have a HD antenna. I have HD and WCIU is the worst picture I have ever seen. I have HD also but WCIU is a local channnel that broadcast HD and they have no HD channel. So in order to get their HD you need a local HD Antenna. Like these: http://www.antennasdirect.com/
  8. Linkege BOOOOOOOOOOO. You suck. Get better at your job, Jim. Your team is flawed and so is your face. You tell'em!
  9. I still think a major trade is going to happen. Just a feeling.
  10. What Murton has two AB back from AAA both K's...
  11. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Oh so you'd rather listen to Boers, who I can guarantee he tells his phone people to purposely only let in the people with the stupidest questions on the air so he can criticize people on the air and be a "big tough guy" on the air, huh? Whatever floats your boat. I've already stated once or twice in this thread that I think Boers is just filler. Bernstein is what makes that show tick, and yes, FWIW, I'd rather listen to that than a babbling moron like Mike Murphy. Bernstein is the a-hole that takes all of the idiotic calls. Ok that's him then. When was the last HARD question Bernstein actually had to argue over with a phone caller? Seriously. Can you think of it? It's because his producer is letting these calls through to get the desired effect. People actually find this entertaining? Again, Howard Stern does this so much better.
  12. Well, depends on your definition of well-educated. He's a Duke alumnus. Fits my definition, at least. As for a career in radio, I'm sure he's very well compensated for it. The show is a juggernaut in Chicago sports radio. Sounds like a dream job to me, I'm not sure why you'd knock it. Highly paid to talk sports for 4-5 hours and laugh your butt off at idiots. But I digress. So is Mike North and I'm assuming he's uneducated. What's your point? Education means nothing in the entertainment field. Again, his education doesn't make him anymore enjoyable. I never said it did. You called him an idiot. I refuted that point. (BTW, not that it matters, but I find Mike North extremely irritating and unenjoyable, in large part because he is such an uneducated and ignorant d-bag). I shouldn't say idiot, but he's so-called intelligence doesn't transfer to sports talk.

  14. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Who on the score gives you that? Generally speaking, I find Bernstein to be a pretty smart dude. Really? I think he's an idiot. B&B are the worst. They love to listen to themselves way too much. They are egotistical as hell, but that's because they are smart. I agree to a point. Boers is ok. I don't think he's really that smart, just sort of rides DB's coattails and laughs at his own or Bernsie's jokes. I love the egotism, though, especially when they rip into the idiotic callers (which seem to represent 99% of the fanbases of the teams). If I wanted to hear that I'd turn on Howard Stern.

Dan Bernstein is a really, really smart and well-educated guy. Yet he choose a career in radio? Anyway, doesn't make him anymore enjoyable.

Who on the score gives you that? Beat me to it! No one on the score even knows the game of baseball. They just tread water until Bears talk...
  18. I'd rather listen to Murph then B&B. Boers must be the most annoying man in radio today...
  19. That trade is lopsided. Little more info on it: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/07/cubs-interested.html
  20. Do you honestly think that the Cardinals where the best team last year? The Marlins in 2003? Let's just get to the playoffs and take our chances. the marlins had the best record in the NL (IIRC) in the second half of 2003. it wasn't just luck, they were a good team. their pitching was dominant. and yes, they got a little luck as most teams need to win in the playoffs. however, how often does a mediocre team like the 2006 cardinals win the world series? it's very rare. there's no reason for the Cubs to stand pat with the glaring holes they currently have, unless there just really truly is nobody available, which i don't believe. Don't the Cubs have the best record in the NL this year in the second half.....So far! I'm just saying....
