    Which would be stupid (though Lou seems to have a flair for overreacting - i.e. Dempster to the rotation for 5 minutes). Gallagher (nor Mateo) can outperform the 3 guys at the back of the rotation right now. guzman could...how long until he is healthy...any time in the near future? Hopefully next year.

    2nd best starting ERA in baseball. Only Marquis has an ERA above 4. So, you're comfortable with Hill, Marquis and Marshall starting a playoff game? Well only one of them will. I wouldn't want to see any of them start right now. The Cubs would be put in a position where they would absolutely have to win in the games where Z and Lilly started. However, the other team will be throwing their top 2 pitchers as well. The offense isn't that potent and I'd feel better if they had one more starter that was more dependable. So would every other team out there.

    Eventually a starter has to tough it out. You can't keep brining in the pen before the 5th inning.

    That's true. I agree. Our starters weren't even sharp this series and we still come away with a spilt. I'll take it.
