    Interesting thought. Depends on if they are going to pick up Abreu's option or not. They'll be concerned mostly about 3B though. We aren't going to sign AROD unless the new owner wants to make a spalsh. I wouldn't mind Dunn next year. Not quite the splash of AROD, but a solid ripple.

    Every series someone is in a 2-0 hole. You would think one of these series some team comes back. Why not us? Oh yeah, we're the Cubs. I keep forgetting...

    maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think an extension works that way That's what I'm not clear about. Isn't the old contract torn up for a new one?

    With what money? and whose? I think "getting a-rod" is code speak for "hitting the sauce HARD" I don't think A-Rod will be avaliable this winter unless we take him down off the cross the NY fans will crucify him on. There's a very good chance ARod will exercise the opt out clause in his contract this offseason and become a free agent. And, if he does, the Yanks have come out and said that they won't re-sign him. Who knows if that will really be the case, but that's what they came out and said. What makes you think there's a very good chance? The Yanks would be idiots to throw away the $21M+ that Texas is paying ARod. What do you mean? If AROD opts out he's a free agent and his previous contract is void. So Texas wouldn't be paying the Yanks anything. Right? Well, they could work out an extension with ARod and keep the old contract and, thus, keep the Ranger money. But if ARod thinks he'll get more no the open market and isn't happy in NY (there's reason to believe both), I don't see why he wouldn't opt out. True.

Im not betting on the Dbacks, but it wont be a total destruction like you are saying. Look what their doing to the Phillies! This team right now is a wrecking crew. No way can the D'backs hang with them.
