    I'm not sure about the latter. He's got some mysterious leg injury and I bet it affects him until he allows himself to be DL'd or the end of the season. He probably won't hit .160 or whatever all year but I'm not sure he's going to catch fire in the usual McCutchen sense. He was driving the ball yesterday, although limping around the outfield a bit on defense.

    He's a machine the forum built around 2006. All seriousness aside...... I took the game logs from RetroSheet (which are in text format), copied/pasted to a database one year at a time. Now I can put in whatever parameters I want and search the hell out it. It's one way to pass the time on those cold lonely off-season nights, eh? Or you could try Hockey.

Francisco Liriano (L) LHP Our first start against a lefty this season - we're the only team to have not faced a lefty starter yet. Our lefty killer, Mercer, is still hurting from getting plunked. Not sure I get to watch the game tonight either.

    When he hits the ball, he tends to hit it really hard. Contact is the problem. Combination of being too passive early in the count and too aggressive deep in the count, and bad pitch recognition (IMO). It doesn't look promising. That's not even true. He has an anemic LD%. If you got bonus points for far HRs he might have value as a 25th guy Wow. Wasn't he the prize in the Garza trade ?

    What happened to Olt? Didn't he start off hot? How much he mus have fallen off to drop his average that low.
