That's b/c despite the high draft picks and rec'g prospects at the deadline, they still haven't been able to develop from within. It's not an easy task. How many teams have done it successfully? We obviously haven't. The Red haven't. The Brewers are finding some success. How many World Series have the A's won with Billy Ball? We've had some bad luck along the way. Sean Burnett's career was killed by injuries. Bobby Bradley too. We've had stupidity mixed with bad luck - see John VanBenschoten and Bryan Bullington - two first round draft picks who shouldn't have been picked, then go on to get injured. Then there is the Aramis trade. Team was in debt, we needed to cut payroll immediately. We were about to trade Benson, but he got hurt. (Bad luck) So, there was the Aramis Trade. (Stupidity.) But... I like what the guys running the place are doing now. I like how they're drafting. And, I liked today's trades. (I'm liking the McLouth trade a bit more each time Morton pitches.) Unfortunately, we can't take back the Bay trade.... BTW, We have two players in the futures game next week. (or is that two weeks?) We're still a long way to go, but at least we're on the road for the first time in as long a time as I can remember.
