  1. Let's rip em off again. Sorry Jake. Dave Littlefield works for you guys now. If anyone is gonna rip off anyone, well, that fact alone puts us in a better position. I could be wrong, but i don't remember the pirates ever ripping someone else off. They always seem to be the ones that get burned The point is the guy who got burned here is now working for you.

  3. If Neal Huntington trades Duke to the cubs.... No this isn't going to happen. Dave Littlefield is not in charge any more. Move along people, nothing to see here. Move along.
  4. When Pedro gets there he'll be wearing a Phillies uni, so hardly a Pirates problem. (And yes I do know who you were referencing.) At least you didn't say a Cubs uniform, and suggest two players in the cubs system who'll never make the majors as trade possibilities.
  5. Steve Pearce is coming up, so I'm assuming Jones is going back to the outfield. Our Basic Lineup until the next trade: Cutch cf Freddy 2b Jones lf Doumit c Moss/Young rf LaRoche 3b Pearce 1b Jack ss Lastings Milledge is NOT coming up yet. ETA: Oh, what happens when Pedro gets here? Who knows? But, finally, we have that problem!
  6. Absolutely. Everyone seems to be quoting weei now, so I'm assuming it's Diaz & Strickland for LaRalleyKiller. Garrett Jones just hit his 9th hr. He came up when Nyjer was traded. So, that's 9 in a couple of weeks. Jones = Chris Shelton, circa '06. Hmmm, Shelton finished that season in the minors, I believe, and was really never heard from again. But how they came up was different. Jones had a long minor league career. He was putting up some good numbers in Indy. Shelton wasn't in the minors that long. It'll be interesting to see what Jones does in the long run.

  8. From http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2009/07/22/report-red-sox-acquire-adam-laroche/ Argenis Diaz & Hunter Strickland I have no idea who these two guys are, or who's coming up. From : http://whygavs.com/ SPECULATIVE UPDATE (1:07): People are asking me on Twitter if the return is Yeiper Castillo + PTBNL. I have no idea if that's actual the return, but I wouldn't be surprised if the return is something similar to that. Meanwhile, DK says that speculation (again unconfirmed) among scouts (same link as before to the PBC) is that Jack Wilson may be involved in the deal as well.
  9. To the red sox. I get to see him play in two weeks. Awaiting the return.
  10. Seems he's gone, but to who and for who are still unknown.

  12. That's probably b/c they didn't know Fuld was available. We have enough CFs in the minors who can't hit, thank you very much.
  13. They'd actually do well to trade him now - he's 31 so he's not likely in their long term plans. I'm guessing the general plan is, if offered a good return, they'll trade him. But, they won't trade him for the sake of trading him. Same w/ Jack Wilson. The problem is, we'd need a 2B back, as we have no one in the minors who's close enough to being ready to take over, even on a stretch. Same w/ Jack. Such is the Legacy of Dave Littlefield.
  14. FWIW... Pirates Notebook: No urgency to Sanchez trade Rather, the official said, teams have approached the Pirates about Sanchez, as they have approached about several players, something that is common in advance of Major League Baseball's July 31 trading deadline. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09194/983531-63.stm#ixzz0LAq0TqQl&D
  15. But.... We have 2 Vazquez in the line up. Not 1. 2. It's got to be good.
  16. Looking at weather.com, I'm betting the game will be played, with a delayed start. Get some Wings at Quaker Steak to tide you over!
  17. 1. McCutchen, CF 2. Sanchez, 2B 3. Jones, LF 4. Adam LaRoche, 1B 5. Moss, RF 6. Vazquez, 3B 7. Jaramillo, C 8. Wilson, SS 9. Vasquez, P
  18. That's b/c despite the high draft picks and rec'g prospects at the deadline, they still haven't been able to develop from within. It's not an easy task. How many teams have done it successfully? We obviously haven't. The Red haven't. The Brewers are finding some success. How many World Series have the A's won with Billy Ball? We've had some bad luck along the way. Sean Burnett's career was killed by injuries. Bobby Bradley too. We've had stupidity mixed with bad luck - see John VanBenschoten and Bryan Bullington - two first round draft picks who shouldn't have been picked, then go on to get injured. Then there is the Aramis trade. Team was in debt, we needed to cut payroll immediately. We were about to trade Benson, but he got hurt. (Bad luck) So, there was the Aramis Trade. (Stupidity.) But... I like what the guys running the place are doing now. I like how they're drafting. And, I liked today's trades. (I'm liking the McLouth trade a bit more each time Morton pitches.) Unfortunately, we can't take back the Bay trade.... BTW, We have two players in the futures game next week. (or is that two weeks?) We're still a long way to go, but at least we're on the road for the first time in as long a time as I can remember.
  19. The Pirates only managed 4 runs in 2 games against the Ass Cubs. I'd hate to be THOSE guys.
  20. Our lineup: 1. McCutchen, CF 2. Sanchez, 2B 3. Young, RF 4. Adam LaRoche, 1B 5. Andy LaRoche, 3B 6. Moss, LF 7. Diaz, C 8. Wilson, SS 9. Ohlendorf, P
  21. Lilly owns us. He could throw right handed and beat us.
  22. We traded a backup outfielder, a starting corner outfielder with no pop, and a front end of the bullpen guy an you're calling this a fire sale? I'll have to read down further and see who's saying salary dump!
