  1. I think you're overrating how good the Big 10 is, and underrating how good Ball State is.
  2. Let's stay away from guys who have had psychological issues. We already have one of those guys.
  3. Mizzou hasn't faced a defense as good as Iowa's all year. You think Iowa's defense is better than Texas'? Possibly. A lot closer than what you think, and probably better. Iowa PPG: 13.3 Yards P/G: 289.5 Rush Yards: 1179 Pass Yards: 2295 Ints:20 Fumbles Recovered: 7 Passing Efficiency D: 99.08 Texas PPG: 18.6 Yards P/G: 339.9 Rush Yards: 883 Pass Yards: 3196 INTs: 6 Fumbles Recovered: 10 Passing Efficiency D: 124.88 ---------
  4. Mizzou hasn't faced a defense as good as Iowa's all year.
  5. If Towers has identified a third team, I would think it will get done at the Winter Meetings. We'll see though.
  6. The last time the wind was blowing and it was 20 or so degrees...
  7. He either sucks or he's awesome. There is no in-between with this man. Getting rid of Kerry Wood places another tally in the "sucks" column. If Wood gets hurt next season, and another team is paying him 10m per season for three seasons, this move will no longer suck. I been reading this board for years, and I just remember many of these same posters laughing at other teams for paying relievers 10m per season. Now since it Kerry Wood, everybody is upset and bashing Hendry. I don't think the question is if, but more when.
  8. But choosing Dempster over Wood seems so odd given Dempster's own uneven track record, not to mention his own surgery. And Kerry Wood's always been as healthy as an ox.
  9. I think you are overthinking things. Hendry wanted a closer for insurance in case Kerry leaves and made a stupid move. I probably am, but don't kill my optimism.
  10. I find it extremely odd that Hoffman's 4 million dollar deal gets taken back, and then the team in the Peavy sweepstakes trade for a closer that they really don't need. Sounds fishy to me.
  11. I was just thinking this myself. Maybe the Padres didn't want Ceda back in a deal for Peavy, for whatever reason. Possibly the perception that one of the main pieces to a Peavy deal simply brought back a guy they had already had at one point? If I had to guess, this is part one of a possible 4 team trade. Maybe they wanted a guy who was ready for the Big Leagues. I'm not so sure Ceda is ready yet while Gregg is ready/will be ready.
  12. Hmm.. Considering the Padres just dumped an offer to Trevor Hoffman, and need a closer.. :-k
  13. According to Rosenthal: I guess Flowers is destroying the Fall League right now, and Rosenthal is unsure they would want to trade him. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8782170/Brewers%27-veterans-could-be-dealt-for-pitching-help?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=3498
  14. I'm also trying to figure out anyone could believe the Braves to be a favorite to win the East considering that they don't have an ace in Smoltz who might not be back at all. Hudson is coming off elbow surgery, and won't be back next year (TJS). Add on that Tex is gone. Chipper is always hurt. Francoeur was horrible this year. I can't honestly see how you could have either of them overtaking the Mets/Phillies/Marlins next year. I don't care if Bobby Cox is coaching this team or not. They have a rotation of Jurrgens, Campillo (who faded badly at the end of the year), Parr, and Reyes (era above 5). Getting Jake Peavy isn't going to do anything to cure this teams' problems.
  15. wait until UCLA gets heartbroken in the final four again. oh wait theyre not good enough to get there* *i have no idea if they are good or not or average or ranked. i couldnt name any good teams in the NBA or college basketball this year. If you can't name a good team in either, you're in a coma.
  16. I did too. What happened to last years ABrown. What happened to rookie Mark Anderson. Really and im serious, the pass rush from the interior (Harrison, I2, and the oft injured Tommie) produces more of a pass rush than the ends. I have more confidence in those 3 producing pressure/sacks than the ends. JA is so going after a DE in the first round next April. I think the Bears need to draft a guy who can stretch the field for Orton. Jeremy Maclin? Michael Crabtree? Percy Harvin?
  17. I got a good feeling about this one.
  18. Who is your friend? BigBird? No offense, but............... Come on man, let him post what he hears.
  19. I thought I've heard that Smoltz will either be back in May/June, or not at all. I would think that suggests his chances of playing in ATL are slim to none.
  20. Furcal. Didn't Hendry want him to sign a contract with a clause in his contract that said if he gets another DUI, the Cubs can void the contract? I thought that was one of the reasons why he went to LA, but I might be wrong.
  21. I think he'll get Abreu. When the past couple of years has Hendry not gotten the guy he wanted?
  22. Felix Pie, your table is set in San Diego. :D
  23. Ortiz has caught Alfonso Soriano "tehsuck" this series.
  24. I'm not sure I would want to get rid of Marmol with Wood still closing.
