  1. Wow. Pretty big expectations for a conference that returns basically everybody next year.
  2. Big 10 games involving Wisconsin/Michigan/Iowa are absolutely terrible to watch. How in the hell did Michigan beat Duke?
  3. Bulls have 56 million (including Hughes who accounts for 13 million) invested into players next year. Don't tell me they couldn't sign Boozer to a max contract. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm
  4. So you're all for gutting your team/depth (Thomas/Noah/Gooden) for one guy who's not a Top 10 player in the league? Add on that this trade probably won't get you over the hump against Cleveland/Boston/Orlando,. Chances are Gordon isn't going to be back next year as him and VDN don't like each other. Larry Hughes is on the inactive list, and is gone next year. Next year the Bulls team looks like without free agency (if you do make the trade): Deng Rose Stoudamire Hinrich Nocioni Sefolosha Gray Draft pick (in the teens/20s) 2nd Round Pick I think the Bulls best scenario is to let the season play out. Get another Top 15 pick and sign someone like Boozer in the offseason. Let Thomas/Noah progress, and stack the bench up with good role players like Noah/Thomas are. Gutting your whole PF depth for a guy who's only an offensive threat is as stupid as signing Ben Wallace to that big contract when the Bulls did.
  5. Not to sound like a complete homer, but I really think we could offer the best package. Miami's offer would obviously would center around Beasley who is more hype than anything else. I think it is clear he is a 3 in this league partly because he doesn't have the desire to play like a 4...if so you have a pretty average player at that position. Portland's offer would begin with Lemarcus Aldridge, I'm assuming. You know what also would begin with Lemarcus Aldridge? The answer to "Who is the most overrated player in the NBA"? I can see why now Pax passed on this soft turd. He is a tall guy with a good jumper that can't rebound. Gee those are tough to find. Not quite sure what Detroit could offer them, maybe Stuckey? But one could argue the Bulls have a similiar young emerging talent in Tyrus Thomas. Are you serious? Beasley is hype? He's averaging 14 ppg in his first year in the league and almost 6 rebounds a game playing only 24 minutes a game. Aldridge is averaging 18 and 7 a night, and he's overrated for a 30-19 Portland Team (2nd leading scorer behind Roy).
  6. Truthfully, it's all going to come down to Anderson, and he isn't going to say anything.
  7. Do we know anything about Robnett and Sellers? http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/R/Richie-Robnett.shtml Richard Pryer Robnett is a smallish LH OF who has done nothing in the minors since being drafted in the first round. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/S/Justin-Sellers.shtml Sellers is a utility player who stinks. You got to love a guy named Richard Pryer. It looks like the A's really rushed him through the system. At AA and below he puts up semi-decent numbers, just hasn't figured it out in AAA yet. His power completely disappeared last year, wonder if there was some type of injury that he was recovering from. A stomach tumor.
  8. Rudy Gay is about it.
  9. what happened?
  10. Lakers just got sent a blow tonight as Bynum injured his other knee (sprained) it. Left in a wheelchair, and has an MRI tomorrow.
  11. Add on a waste of taxpayer money to keep him in jail for awhile.
  12. Nothing like being a player or two away from the World Series and then regressing with nearly every transaction (Bradley excluded). And people wonder why it's been over a century since the Cubs last won the World Series. I can't figure it out! How have they regressed? By getting rid of some of the dead weight on the team like Pie/Cedeno before they had no value/had to be cut? DeRosa and Wood say "hi." I'll make it easier: DeRosa vs Bradley (Bradley's better offensive threat/DeRosa's hardly hurt = tie up) Wood vs Gregg (Wood's probably just a little bit better/Gregg is younger and less injury prone than Wood is) Howry vs Heilman (Heilman please) Cedeno vs Aaron Miles (Aaron Miles, please) Pie vs Gathright (Pretty much on the same exact level with each other - Pie will probably be the better player down the line) I think this team is pretty much on par to what they were last year while saving some money. You're still leaving out the main fact.... which is that we were going to regress from last year even if we kept the same team. There's so much production we got last year that was very unlikely to be duplicated in 2008. Also, that Wood vs Gregg argument isn't really valid. It doesn't matter if Wood is healthy next year. We're talking about about regressing from last year. Last year, Wood was healthy for the majority of the season and was really good. We're not talking about whether or not Wood would be better this year, we're talking about regression as a team. 2008 Wood to 2009 Gregg will be a regression. Not that huge of a regression if Gregg pitches like he has recently, but still a regression. I'm just putting the pieces together this year, and concluding that the offseason wasn't really as bad as thought (considering the Tribune is broke/trading the team). Are the Cubs going to regress? It's quite possible, and probably probable. Is this regression enough to keep the Cubs out of the playoffs? Probably not considering they play in Central.

  15. Keno Davis is doing one helluva job at Providence.
  16. I think most of the reasons why Bulls fans hate Thomas is because they had Brandon Roy in their lap, and refused to pick him for Thomas because he (thomas) can "jump" through a gym.
  17. Besides Deng/Gordon, who do they have to trade away for something? Ben Gordon will be gone after this year. Tyrus Thomas is so inconsistent, and is probably going to go down as a bust. Joakim Noah is a rebounder, and that's it. Noc is a role player. Hinrich is ok (not a superstar or a star). Gooden is ok (not a superstar or a star). You know no one wants Larry Hughes when he's been shipped to NJ for a Bobby Simmons player (who is averaging 7 ppg). -- Since 1999, the Bulls draft order has been #1 (Brand), #4 (Fizer), #4 (Curry)/traded Brand for #2 (Chandler), #2 (Jay Williams), #7 (Hinrich), #3 (Gordon), 05 = no picks (Paul/Williams/Felton/Bynum/Green year), #2 (Aldridge traded for Thomas)/#16 (Carney traded for Thabo), #9 (Noah), #1 (Rose). Yikes, that is horrible.
  18. I think you would see Shanahan to Dallas before Tampa Bay, but I could be wrong. First of all, Jerry and him get along really well. Shanahan was the only guy to give Owens a try-out and a contract before Jerry gave him a bigger one. Hopefully, Jerry would be willing to give up his GM duties to Shanahan though.
  19. Matt Leinart was a top-10 pick when he came out. Sure, it's not No. 1, but it's not like he dropped into the second round or anything like that. He still got paid big time and it wasn't a stupid move to come back to USC for a year. Leinart was projected as top 2 or 3 pick after their National Title Win against Oklahoma. He choose to come back when he had nothing to prove in college football, and he dropped to 10th to Arizona where he's still riding the pine behind Warner. Sam Bradford is projected as the #1 pick in this draft to the Lions. He has virtually nothing to prove to the college football world. He's probably not going to beat Florida again next year, and probably will lose to Texas again next year. I get why Tim Tebow (not a 1st rounder) is on his way back, and hell, I get why Colt McCoy (Late 1st to Early 2nd rounder) is coming back. I don't get why Sam Bradford (a projected #1 in many, if not all draft boards) is coming back to college football.
  20. Bradford is staying (just announced it). Stupid move on his part (Beane Wells/Matt Leinart.. ring a bell?), but I guess he didn't want to play for the Lions.
  21. Sam Bradford is coming back - wtf?
  22. On Fire.
  23. And just like that.. San Diego scores.
  24. Why not sign Sheets to a one/two year deal? You have Marshall/Samardzija to back him up if he gets hurt for a period of time.
  25. 3 seed was good until they got bounced by Northwestern State in the first round.
