  1. I would bet Pie is the center piece in the deal. This is a salary dump they're probably not wanting to take Jones back. I can see Pie and Marshall for Griffey. And I would do that in a heartbeat.
  2. Mets fans are really fretting over their OF situation. Alou, Beltran and Green have all been banged up, while most think Alou is completely done. They've had a couple kids up but none of them have done much. I could definitely see them having interest in Jones. Hey Omar traded Kazmir for Zambrano so who knows what they would fork over... :) That was Steve Phillips I believe.
  3. Perhaps the people who were saying that before aren't the same people who are asking about sending him down now. I've only seen one person suggest sending him down. Plus the people who were calling for him to play everyday just didn't want to see Izturis in the lineup. Truth is there's not a player in the entire organization who should be playing short everday.
  4. He may not be the only reason the team is losing but he's a big part of the reason. I disagree that you can't give up 6 runs and expect to win. The Cobs should've easily won that game yesterday. Theriot is killing us right now with his ZERO production.
  5. Can't complain too much? Come on... That has to be an out. He made the right play and ran at the runner. He just got unlucky that the tag missed Lofton by a couple of inches. A true Cubs play would have been for Howry to throw behind Lofton allowing Lofton to advance to third. He made the right play initially, but once you have him committed to going back towards 2nd base you need to get rid of the ball. Howry held the ball for about 2 seconds too long and it cost him, and the game. How do you know it cost him the game. If Howry makes the play there's a runner on first with two outs. With Catalanotto's hit, the runner would have been going on contact and probably could have scored anyway. because Catalanotto probably doesn't even PH in that situation if there is a man on 1st with 2 out. Bottom line is Howry held the ball too long, that has to be an out. Again, though, you still can't definitively say it cost him the game. Who gives a crap? We lost.
  6. This is a bad bad baseball team. A month ago I thought we we're a pretty good team just playing bad. But no, we're a bad bad team. How Hendry still has a job baffles and angers me. Go Cobs
  7. Gamecast has Gagne hitting 85 on his fastballs. Is this right?
  8. Ron just thought the pitcher was coming up to bat.
  9. I think he played in Orlando for 7 or 8 years. Then went to Pheonix and the knee injuries started. But for the 7 or 8 years in Orlando he was a top 15-20 player.
  10. He was actually playing well this year before the injuries. He's also better than four of our five outfielders.
  11. In no way is Penny Hardaway considered a flop.
  12. LOL. That is funny. The double switch was the right move. He wanted Howry to pitch the 9th. If he doesn't double switch he has to pinch hit for Howry in the bottom to the 8th.
  13. It just seems that Marquis loses his stuff so fast. It's Lou's job to recognize when he's done.
  14. Sorry but I put that one on Lou. I'm listening on the radio and I could see that Marquis was finished.
  15. because putting a guy making his ML debut into a bases loaded, 1 out situation is asking for trouble Leaving Marquis in is asking for more trouble.
  16. why is Rapada up if he's not going to use him?
  17. Yeah I believe it, it's obvious. He started the season banged up. He missed at least one start, and probably two this weekend, which would have vaulted him over Murton easily. There was talk of a back issue with Murton, but no evidence, and he said he was fine. Floyd has been injured most of his career and moves around like Bonds nowadays. He's clearly incapable of starting everyday and being held back due to health. You need evidence of Murton's back injury? I like Murton and feel he should be playing 80% of the time but Floyd has clearly outplayed him this year. A Floyd/Murton platoon makes so much sense right now. I don't understand why management is being so patient with Jones. If you can't trade him just bench him. He's clearly the inferior player to Murton and Floyd. It's so frustrating.
  18. Weren't Pawelak's numbers similar to that his senior year in highschool? I'm not trying to compare the two just don't want to get burned again. He was also pitching in Utah. Utah! Good call.

  20. We're officially done scoring for the day.
