  1. If this guy doesn't show up to make his pick I'd like to join. I'm on all day long during work hours.
  2. I remember seeing it for 79.95 each of the past two seasons. I have already began my search for the best way to bring MLB.tv into my house. I would switch to DirecTV, but it is not an option and that sucks! MLB is the one that made the agreement to go exclusive with DirecTV. I absolutely will not support them through MLB.tv. It defeats the purpose of being upset about MLB EI. I'm upset about it but I will definitely make the switch to Direct TV. I'm easy.
  3. I'm picturing Ron Burgundy here: Ron Burgundy: You stay classy, San Diego. I'm Ron Burgundy? Ed Harken: Dammit. Who typed a question mark on the Teleprompter? I just laughed out loud.
  4. If an 855 OPS and 99 runs scored qualifies as awful in your book, then sign me up for a team of awful players, please. You do know how many runs scored our LEADOFF man had in 2006, right? Jacque Jones out slugged him and put up a 833 OPS. And who cares how many runs he scored? Jacque Jones out SLGd him, but I wouldn't say he out slugged Dunn. JJ just had a few more singles. Dunn blew him away with BB, and subsequently OBP. Dunn only had 5 more XBH's that Jones. I'm not opposed to having Dunn, I just wouldn't give up great prospects for him.

  6. Dunn's numbers were awful last year. I wouldn't do Pie straight up for him.
  7. Please no for center field. Please yes for shortstop.
  8. Who are we not trading Pie to the Marlins for? not dealing = untouchable If Hendry is completely unwilling to include Pie in any deal(which I don't believe he is) then Jim Hendry = idiot.
  9. Depending on who else they're asking for, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Would the Marlins do Pie, Marshall and Wuertz for Willis? why even suggest this since hendry stated that he is not trading pie? the marlins would make out like bandits if hendry were dumb enough to try this deal out anyway. You're right, whatever a GM states is always 100% true. I'm sure Hendry hangs his phone up as soon as some other GM mentions Pie's name. I bet Cashman does the same thing when someone mentions Arod's name. I won't suggest any more trades that include Pie until Hendry comes out and says he's trying to trade him. First off, the Cubs can't trade Pie until they find a starting OF for 2007. Second, when was the last time we heard Hendry say someone was untouchable and then he went out and traded them? If anything, Hendry has been overconservative in not dealing his top prospects. When did he state that Pie was untouchable? I've read that Rich Hill is untouchable, but not Pie. Felix Pie in no way should be untouchable.

  13. :D :D :D :D It's not worth much to me. Baseball people love to compliment one another. Scouting directors don't think about cost effective roster moves (see Jim Hendry), they think about finding diamonds in the rough. They don't mind failing on almost every guy as long as a couple do something. A GM, or anybody concerned with the makeup of a major league team, can't affort to think like a scout. They need more hits than misses. I love it. There's nothing funnier to me that someone getting this pissed off on a baseball message board.
  14. didn't he prove he can pitch as well as he did at the end of 2006 at the end of 2006? =D> I'm not saying to count on Hill on a 2 yet, but counting him as a 5 seems foolish. If Rich Hill is our #5 starter next year I like our chances.
  15. Will Carroll reported that Prior has the same shoulder injury Woody had going into this season (via Cubs sources). I don't know about that source, but Carroll has a great track record as far as Prior is concerned. If it's true, we shouldn't count on Prior at all. Trading him is stupid as his value is rock bottom, but we should fill out the rotation w/o taking him into account. MacPhail said earlier today that the Cubs should take health into account from now on (DUH!!!) when making player acquisitions. There's hope. Take it for what it's worth but I have a friend of mine that knows Prior's cousin really well. She told my friend that if Dusty is gone next year Prior will be healthy. She told him that while Prior was feeling discomfort in his shoulder he could have pitched through it. According to her, Prior and his father made the decision that he wasn't going to be abused by Dusty any longer. I absolutely got this info 3rd hand but my friend is a huge cub fan and I believe him. Not unbelievable by any stretch. No disrespect intended to anyone but I find this extremely implausible, on multiple levels. None taken. But it's true.

  17. Not very well.
  18. Sarcasm or not, I'm in the camp of in any sport, defense wins championships. Unfortunately, our GM and manager are also in that camp.
  19. Unless you stop to remember that Ronny has a whopping 422 major league at bats to Neifi's 4955. Neifi has been proving for over a decade now how horrible of an offensive player he is. Judging by the last 2-3 years, Ronny is still improving. Furthermore, stories of Neifi's defense are greatly exaggerated. I really don't want to hijack this thread, but did anyone hear Joe Morgan last night say that Neifi Perez was once one of the best shortstops in baseball? The cubs/cards game was on 3 stations last night but I couldn't turn off Berman and Morgan. They are so bad at what they do that I'm just drawn to them. It's very entertaining.
  20. What would Baker have had to do to get a higher percentage? I'm just not sure what more a manager can do to deserve being fired. I agree that Baker should be fired. I think everyone should be fired from top to bottom. Manager, coaches, trainers, everybody. It's so pathetic to see how far this team has fallen in 3 years.
  21. Do you really think that Baker has nothing to do with that? I don't know. I just know that he's not on the team. The so called "rookies" on the team he is playing however. I just want the blame for this season to fall on Jim Hendry. I'm not a Baker fan but this season is not his fault. I'm so dissapointed in Hendry this year that it makes me want to vomit. It's just such a helpless feeling knowing that this man is in control of the team that I love. I think he deserves 95% of the blame and Baker 5%.
  22. Hill should be pitching instead of Rusch. Guzman rotted on the bench. Murton got benched for Nevin instead of playing through his slump. He's hitting again now with more playing time. Baker has always looked upon young players as an obstacle to overcome, instead of the potential success that they might bring. Baker would be horrible managing the Marlins. EDIT: Ugh, had to go fix all those quotes...it was giving me a headache. Hill is not on the team. Murton is on pace for almost 500 at bats. That's not too bad. You're right Baker would not be a good manager for the Marlins. I don't think anybody is saying he would be. But to say "Girardi is winning with young talent, why can't Baker" is just not fair. The Marlins have far better young talent than the Cubs.
  23. I think you're giving Girardi a little too much credit. Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Josh Willingham, Mike Jacobs, and Jeremy Hermida were good long before Joe Girardi got ahold of them. I think it's impressive what's going on in Florida this year but they have some really good young talent. Do you think with the same players, that Dusty Baker would be doing as well? Or do you think he'd have picked up players like Tony Womack or Phil Nevin to take over for one of the kids after they struggle for a week? Dusty Baker and Joe Girardi are in very different situations. It wasn't Dusty Baker who picked up Nevin and Womack it was our wonderful GM. Also when did Dusty replace a young kid after he struggled for a week? I'm not a Baker supporter by any means, but I really don't have too much of a problem with the way he's played the kids this year. The only major problem I have is his recent platoon of Murtin, and him not pitching Guzman while he was up. What you don't have too much of a problem with is exactly what the problem is. Murton and Guzman are just the latest examples of many we've seen under his tutelage. I just don't think he's been nerly as bad this year as in the past. Cedeno is still the starter and Murton is still getting the majority of the time in left. What else should he be doing? You don't think so? How many times have we seen Rusch pitch when we all knew he should not be on this team anymore let alone starting? It's pretty obvious our season is over which means the kids should be playing everyday. At one point Murton was only starting against lefties and let me tell you it was fun watching Mabry play LF. Why was Rusch given several chances to start and the rookies were not given the chance even though their numbers were actually better than fat one? When are we finally going to have a consistent lineup? Have we ever had a consistent lineup since Baker has been here? Even Walker boy hasn't been playing as much so that Dusty can add his little henchman at 2B or SS and bat in the 2spot. Baker has been bad, no question. That stubborn fool needs to go. I'm only referring to his usage of the young players not his usage of Walker, Neifi, Rusch, or the lineups. The only two young pitchers on the team are in the rotation. That's good. Cedeno is still the starter and SS. That's good. Murton is still the LF. That's good. Look, I didn't post in this thread to defend Baker. I only posted because someone compared the Marlins young talent to the Cub's young talent. They're not comparable at all.
