  1. Why is that a safe bet? Why would anyone prefer Dempster over Lowe assuming the contracts would be similar?
  2. I'd take Lowe over Sabathia given how much money both will be seeking. Will Lowe and Dempster's contracts be similar? Or will Lowe be asking for more money and years?
  3. Somebody who'll analyze the game or talk for 5 minutes without me wanting to punch him in the face. I personally feel the whole analyzing the game stuff is overrated. They all spew the same BS about hitting behind runners and the value of sac bunts. It's all garbage. Len and Grace would be very entertaining together.
  4. I would love it if Grace became the color guy. What more do you really need besides someone that's half way funny and tells good stories?
  5. I would be totally against trading Soto for Peavy. A good young cheap catcher is more valuable than Peavy. I say keep Soto and the prospects and make a strong play for Lowe.
  6. What's that funny looking thing beside the ER on Papelbon's stat line?
  7. Who at this point would you not trust for one inning over Howry?
  8. Wow, when did pitching the 9th become relatively unimportant?
  9. I'm thinking that we shouldn't resign Dempster. Hopefully Angel Guzman can slide into Shark's 7th inning role and we can move him to the rotation. Have a rotation of Z, Harden, Lilly, Shark, Hill/Marshall. The 10-12 million you save from resigning Dempster could be used to find a corner OF bad. I think it's going to take way more that Dempster's likely to be worth over the next 4 years to resign him.
  10. Who cares about the timing of a thread. Howry has been terribly inconsistent this year and has sucked so far in July. He pitched in a close game and gave up another run late and somebody expressed concern. What's the big freaking deal? I wasn't trying to make a big freaking deal over it. I was just saying it was the offense that put up a goose egg last night. That's all. You were aware of the title of the thread though right?
  11. In terms of W/L last night? It was most certainly unimportant. He didn't factor into the result of the game at all. I said if we're talking about whether Howry will be OK from here out that's definitely in question. This is crazy logic. Anytime a pitcher gives up more runs than his own team scores he doesn't factor into the result of the game? This is good news for all crappy pitchers around the league.
  12. I'm sure someone will have evidence that proves me dead wrong, but it seems to me that Lee just can't turn on the inside pitches anymore. Most of his hard hit balls seem to go to center or right. Just like last night, 2-0 count runners on first and third, he knows he's getting a fast ball and let's himself get jammed. If i'm opposing teams I would just bust him in all day until he proves he can turn on that pitch and not just weakly ground it to the left side.
  13. BINGO! Seriously? Giving up a run in the bottom of the 8th in a one run game is not a problem? Would it have been a problem if Aramis gets a hit in the 9th? Did it even matter? The hitters have been pathetic lately. Are you going to rip Harden for giving up a HR to a guy that's hitting .250 on the year and had never hit a HR in his major league career before? Randy Johnson was far from overpowering last night. We should have been able to score at least 2 or 3 runs off of him. Who knows if it mattered? There's no way to know how the 9th would've played out if it was a one run game. And comparing Harden's run and Howry's run is pretty ridiculous. By your logic though Howry could've come in and given up 6 runs and it wouldn't have been a problem. How does one run change the way we batted in the 9th? You guys are letting your hatred for Howry blind you to the disaster that is our offense right now. I'm not a big Howry fan, but he is not the problem at the present time. First of all Aramis would've probably been walked. Several things could've of played out differently. Look, I'm not saying the offense wasn't the problem last night, but to say Howry wasn't either is just flat wrong. What? They would have walked him with 2 outs and no one on base? Theriot was on 3rd. Forgot about Theriot. So they walk Aramis to get to Soto and then what? he hasn't been hitting anything lately either. He was a whopping 0 for 3 last night. Whatever dude. Howry sucked last night just like he's been sucking for the last two weeks. IMO he's a major concern over the next two months. Put it like this, I'm more concerned with Bob Howry than I am with the offense. He still wasn't the problem last night. The problem was the goose egg next to our name. Period. I know you said period, but is it ok if I still say that he was definitely part of the problem?

  16. Well, he's not a good one right now. He's given up 5 runs in his last 7 outings.

  20. You shut your mouth with your logic and level-headedness. The sky is obviously falling. These types of posts get old. No one said anything about the sky falling. It's perfectly ok to be upset when a promising young pitcher has to undergo Tommy John.
  21. After yesterday, we need a long reliever in case/for when Marquis gets pounded? Thats my best guess. We have more long relievers than second baseman now.
  22. I'm not sure if you're saying the trade was insane or the e-mailer, but I though it was a very solid trade for the Grizzlies. Gay. Love. Era., get it? I get the Gay, Love thing. I was referring to him calling it an insane trade.
