  1. This is such crap. Real ballplayers like Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb went into the stands to fight fans. Why are we penalizing this stuff? Personally, I think successfully beating up a fan should add a run to the team's score.
  2. As a current law student, I can verify that the only time the Third Amendment comes up is when somebody is inebriated.
  3. It's even worse than that. A lot of those guys with 3+ TJs didn't really have that many TJs. For a while there, there were other, similar operations that were being lumped in as TJs. I'm pretty sure that was the case with Isringhausen, Rijo, and at least one of Fox/Williamson. It's been a while since I looked it up. But yeah, Venters is the only guy with anything resembling any real success after 3 actual TJs. And that really consists of one solid season in relief.
  4. Fair enough. I figured they were akin to xbox achievements, but I remembered you saying something cagey about social forum access, so I was curious on that specific account.
  5. Yeah, I'm not generally a fan of Madrigal over Wisdom. But Wisdom is a limited player, and Madrigal might be a bit more reliable in this instance. That said, I probably would have still started Wisdom and just been more open to pinch-hitting Madrigal for him in a situation where it's important to put wood on the ball.
  6. Forgive the question, but is there a point to ranks or achievements outside of bragging rights? I'm mostly curious if you tied access to the social forum to rank or something. Also, my thing says something about needing another ~4.5k points to earn the next rank. Where do "points" come from?
  7. Mervis walks. 2B, HBP, HR, and BB. Solid night, and it’s only the 5th.
  8. It's an embarrassment of riches.
  9. Just by their yearly numbers, Woodruff was slightly better last year than Steele. But Steele was rapidly improving throughout the season. So depending on how much stock you put into that as being actual development versus some statistical noise, there's a defensible argument for preferring Steele. That said, this feels a lot like yesterday's game. The weather conditions may tell the tale. If the weather is shitty and nobody's hitting longballs, we might be ever-so-slightly favored. Otherwise, you've gotta give the edge to the Brewers.
  10. I admire the restraint. I'm sure most of us (sans Mojo) have felt like lurkers at times. But going 18 years without a post -- that's just impressive. And then he ruined it immediately by posting a second time without waiting another 18 years.
  11. 78ish. But unlike some of our previous teams, I can see a path to a playoff spot with this squad. Of course, 99% of those paths run through Bellinger returning to near-MVP form thanks to the new shift rules and a change of scenery. And even then, we're relying on some breakouts of young guys and veteran bouncebacks. So is it a likely path? No. But I'm holding at least a little hope as we approach opening day.
  12. The fact that Kyle is within walking distance of Angel Stadium explains the cloud of doom over that stadium the last few years...
  13. Yeah, the keyword thing seems tough to implement outside places like twitter where each post is somewhat-standalone. I could see it working solely off thread titles, though. For instance, put Trump on the blocklist, and those threads with his name in the title are auto-ignored or something. Could be useful as we move away from mega-threads. Thanks for thinking on it.
  14. Are there any robust ignore settings on this board? I've got a [expletive] of climate change anxiety, and would love to ignore the weather thread. Or maybe set up a list of keywords so that things don't show up in my feed. Anything like that? All I've been able to find so far is ignoring specific posters.
  15. I remember writing a couple articles back in the day. Wouldn't mind seeing how poorly they hold up...
  16. While they're all a bit too rosy for me, I don't hate these predictions. I just wanted to be the first to use the button to dislike one of your posts.
  17. I'd be much obliged. Right now, I've got the site zoomed in 120% to make the font somewhat legible, which of course is throwing off the way everything else is presented. That said, I want to express that I fully appreciate you're working hard to make sure the methodology is working appropriately for paying your writers. That is a way better reason than anything I was anticipating. That said, if you get the time to make a second theme with the only difference being Times New Roman font, I'd name my next kid after you.
  18. Please forgive my ignorance, but was the availability of the theme choice causing some other issue? If not, I think keeping it enabled as an option while you work out some of the kinks (such as the broken icons on the other theme), might be well-received.
  19. I hope you enjoyed it while you could. It appears that theme is now gone again... I'm gonna need a theme with a readable typeface for my old eyes at some point soon. This jacked-up sans serif nonsense is abusive.
  20. Also nice, we can now just hit ctrl+b or ctrl+i or whatever to input the bold and italic stuff. No more awkward code.
  21. I don't know what to think of star wars or marvel stuff if I can't see Mojo and Derwood argue about it. It is inhumanely cruel of our new overlords to hide the forums' expert opinions from the hoi polloi.
  22. There's currently two themes to choose from. You can find them at the very bottom of the page. The font for the Northside Baseball (default) theme nearly gave me eye cancer. But the other default theme is a bit better. And doesn't have all the missing icon issues.
  23. I just noticed that Fred's account is messed up, with all the extra numbers. Despite your seeming resurrections of some other old posters, I doubt Fred is gonna be able to pm you about this, so I hope you don't mind me requesting that you fix it on his behalf. https://northsidebaseball.com/profile/5261-fred-hornkohl1679666346/
