  1. Off the top of my head, your best bets for that one are Jack Cust, Carlos Pena, and Hee Seop Choi.
  2. Has anybody made a bad "penis enhancement" joke yet in this thread? If not, I'm disappointed.
  3. Johjima played 162 games in 2003? All in all, very interesting. You've done a hell of a job.
  4. I am the Bloomington Bums.
  5. Mind if I piggyback onto this thread too? Standard 5x5 league, 12 teams, we get four keepers... and I managed to put together one hell of an offense last season. (LF, CF, RF instead of 3 OF) Mauer Pujols BJ Upton Rollins ARod Manny Ellsbury Vlad Hafner My pitching staff is fairly weak, but holds a few gems in Felix and Lincecum. I don't think either of those two is in mortal danger of going in the first few rounds of our redraft, so I'm not gonna bother asking about them... But how the hell do you pick four guys off that offense? Pujols and ARod are gimmes, but who else?
  6. I'm gonna need to see some sort of a rebound from Lugo before I get even remotely interested.
  7. You can forget about Votto or Keppinger batting 2nd. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060221&content_id=1317995&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Let's be completely honest here. Dusty Baker cannot be predicted, even by Dusty Baker. He's gonna do whatever the hell looks right to him, and then attempt to rationalize it with some crazy metaphor later.
  8. Yeah, I guess no matter our option it's still real ugly.
  9. I'm assuming Juan Uribe and not former Giant SS Jose Uribe. His contract is expensive but he's a better defensive SS while being one of the more frustrating players to watch at the plate, despite having some pop. It would be a tough decision between Theriot and Uribe, although I would lean towards keeping Theriot. Of the two, it'd be a real close call... But Uribe has an edge of at least 10-15 runs with the glove. Can Theriot real make it up with the bat?
  10. And yet it still speaks volumes that he's definately a better option than Theriot. They don't necessarily have to take over in July. If Furcal or Gonzalez was injured earlier in the season, and Hu or Keppinger came up and raked as the replacement, I could definately see the GMs trading their now-expendable starting SS off once they've come back and shown they are healthy in limited PT. I'm not huge on either one, personally. To be honest, the fact that we're discussing them makes me want to vomit. But again, they're still very likely to be better than Theriot, and if the price is right, you gotta pull that trigger. It's just as likely Asdrubal Cabrera or Brent Lillibridge are blocked by those guys and are available instead. And I could definately see the Braves and Cubs matching up pretty well in a trade. Considering the relative fragility of their rotation, and all the spare pieces in ours... plus the complete potential for Diaz to implode when those BABIPs come back to earth... Well, Gallagher and Murton for Lilllibridge and a lower prospect would be amazing for me at the deadline. But we can't really make that deal if we've traded those boys off for Roberts, can we? Agreed. It is completely unacceptible that Hendry has allowed such a huge hole to remain on our "competitive" squad this far into the offseason.
  11. Well, the basic list of guys better than Theriot whose teams wont be competing... Jack Wilson Jason Bartlett Brendan Harris But as I'm sure you know, teams don't have to be out of it to trade their SS away, they just have to have a ready replacement. So, depending on how everything else is looking, some of these guys might be available... Jhonny Peralta / Asdrubal Cabrera Yunel Escobar / Brent Lillibridge Rafael Furcal / Chin-Lung Hu Alex Gonzalez / Jeff Keppinger Edit: Also, depending on some variables, I could see Orlando Cabrera or Khalil Greene becoming available. Neither scenario is bloody likely, but they are both possible... Cabrera moreso.
  12. That is not a lot. That deal will not get it done. I would love to get Roberts for that deal! Too bad we're going to have to add Veal or Colvin to that deal to make it happen. Either way i'd do it! We're just as good off with Ronny Cedeno starting at SS and DeRosa at 2B as we are with Theriot at SS and Roberts at 2B... and that doesn't cost us a good young starter or a damn good fourth OF.
  13. Drop in power the last two seasons? IsoP: 1996 - .230 1997 - .228 1998 - .261 1999 - .246 2000 - .227 2001 - .181 (21 G) 2002 - .218 2003 - .223 2004 - .169 2005 - .169 2006 - .202 2007 - .088 Yes, 2007 was absolutely horrible. But people seem to have completely forgotten about 2006. His power rebounded in a significant way, and he hit .303/.367/.505 on the season. If he has another season like that in his bat, the difference between him and Theriot on defense (and in their contracts) isn't nearly close enough for Theriot to cover the gap.
  14. At this point, I'm beginning to associate this whole ordeal with Brian Roberts the baseball player, not just the transaction. It's gotten so bad that I'm almost convinced I'd boo him every game, despite his production.
  15. Too bad this board is dripping with sarcasm just about every thread too, but oh well. Yeah, but at least nobody here is very good at using it.
  16. Soriano - .280/.325/.540 Theriot - .265/.315/.355 Lee - .295/.390/.525 Ramirez - .305/.355/.550 Fukudome - .305/.390/.465 DeRosa - .280/.360/.430 Soto - .280/.350/.455 Pie - .270/.320/.460 Zambrano - 1.30/4.20 Lilly - 1.20/4.30 Hill - 1.10/3.65 Marquis - 1.45/4.80 Dempster - 1.30/3.60 (all in relief) Lieber - 1.30/4.50 Marmol - 1.15/3.10 Wood - 1.20/3.40 Howry - 1.20/3.30
  17. One could just as easily make the argument that without today's advanced training regimines and dietary supplements and all that jazz that none of the modern players would be able to hold a candle to Ruth back then.
  18. Keep hoping. Votto for Blanton? Sure. Anything more? No way Votto and Bailey or Cueto? Yeah right. My personal guess would be Votto, Stubbs, and an as yet unnamed pitching prospect in the lower minors.
  19. Why would she do that? She knows where to find me.
  20. I'm really surprised you aren't a fan of this one. With all the extra traffic coming in from the other sports, there's bound to be a few posters that try to branch out into baseball... and they're all likely to be pretty ignorant about it to start. Think of all the helpless little whelps flailing around spastically and spouting off nonsense phrases while you pound them into submission with a wall of numbers. It'd be six different kinds of fantastic, minimum.

I dunno. But if you need a spot filled, I'm first on your list.
  22. Count me in as a reserve member.
  23. I'M NOT DRUNK, YOU'RE DRUNK! You're damn right I've got a drinking problem! We're outta scotch!
