  1. Honest question... is Theriot doing anything better than Cedeno right now? Am I just overlooking something?
  2. Cedeno is hitting for a higher average with more power. He's drawing walks more frequently. He's playing better defense, and not screwing up constantly on the basepaths. I appreciate that Theriot has been hitting the ball well. But he hasn't done it well enough to warrant keeping his job when we have an option who is better in every conceivable fashion right now. It's just tough luck.
  3. Quade sent him on the first one. And you have to believe he was going on first movement there at the behest of the coaching staff. Theriot made his own bad decision today. Let's not pretend otherwise.
  4. He's hit the ball well ALL year. No one wants to admit it and it's kinda of lame how much the Theriot haters want him to fail, just so they are proven correct. He's been hitting very well compared to what we could expect of him. But that's only good enough to make him Henry Blanco to Ronny Cedeno's Geovany Soto.
  5. I heard Cedeno played CF in winter ball. A bit. Though I understand the transition didn't go particularly well...
  6. I think Theriot may be trying too hard to make things happen on the basepaths because he's worried about losing his job.
  7. First game I get to watch on WGNHD... lets hope its a good one.
  8. probably because he generally has good fundamentals and people aren't going to overreact about a few baserunning mistakes made in one week. Does he, really? Or is that just perception? What does that even mean? yes, he does. he's a good baserunner, steals bases at a good rate, shows good patience at the plate and doesn't make many errors. there's plenty to criticize with theriot, like his ability to hit and his range in the field. He used to steal bases at a good rate. This year, he's got a 58.3% success rate. (7 SB, 5 CS)
  9. EqA: Lee - .347 Soto - .325 Cedeno - .323 Ramirez - .316 Fukudome - .312 DeRosa - .292 Blanco - .279 Theriot - .276 Johnson - .258 Pie - .222 Maybe there is something to the idea of playing Cedeno in CF...
  10. http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/280430116_Brewers_Cubs_67630125_lbig.png Cedeno's WPA for the night is .000, despite the three run double and the walks in his other two plate appearances. The game was already decided long before then.
  11. Cedeno's OPS is sitting at 1.029 at the end of April. I know Theriot is performing well also (.831 OPS), but Cedeno needs to be playing everyday right now.
  12. Alright... despite the complete lack of drama, I've watched the whole game up to this point. But now it's GTA4 time.
  13. Cedeno is down to a walk every 8.5 PA. How does this compare to previous years? 2005 - 17.8 PA/BB 2006 - 33.6 PA/BB 2007 - 26.7 PA/BB Simply put, Cedeno has changed his approach significantly.

  15. Are you guys sure there's a blackout? I'm in Bloomington, IL (only about 2 hours south of Chicago), and I've got it on ESPN to this point. If there's a blackout, surely I'm in the zone?
  16. I just got offered Alex Rios, Ryan Doumit, and Francisco Liriano for the low, low price of Carl Crawford, Chris B. Young, and John Smoltz. I can't stop laughing.
  17. Replacing Blanco with Laird would be an upgrade as long as he doesn't cut into Geo's playing time. Speaking of which, is this finally the last year of that bloated backup catcher contract? Yes, this is finally the last year of that 2 year deal. Well, yes and no. There is a 3 million dollar club option for next year with a 300k buyout. That option could technically become guaranteed, but he'd need 170 games started between this year and last... which he wont come close.
  18. Fukudome Lee Soriano Ramirez Soto Pie/Johnson DeRosa Cedeno
  19. BB Totals so far this year: Fukudome - 18 Soto - 13 Ramirez - 13 DeRosa - 11 Lee - 9 I realize. But Ramirez doesn't have that patience with him today. Maybe he'll find it later. Aramis is now batting .333/.333/.667 when putting the first pitch in play this season.
  20. BB Totals so far this year: Fukudome - 18 Soto - 13 Ramirez - 13 DeRosa - 11 Lee - 9
  21. Cedeno's P/PA 2005 - 3.48 2006 - 3.49 2007 - 3.68 2008 - 4.05
  22. You have to figure Lou will PH Ward for Theriot, with Fontenot coming in to run if he gets on.
