  1. Soriano coming up with the bases juiced, and then it's the pitchers spot. Think Pena takes the at bat if we make it there?
  2. Colvin has been really patient today. Love seeing that.
  3. Yeah, Mateo was getting squeezed. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him and Russell just yet.
  4. Marshall didn't pitch on Sunday so he's only thrown 6 pitches in the last 2 days. He'll be available for a while if the Cubs need. From what Quade said about yesterday's game, he was planning to pitch Mateo/Grabow/Marshall today anyway. Glad to hear I'm mistaken.
  5. Well, I'd have to imagine Wood and Marmol are unavailable today. Marshall had a shortened outing yesterday, but it was his third day in a row as well. Looks like this is up to Samardzija, Russell, Mateo, and Grabow.
  6. From exciting to depressing in the course of one mound visit. Damn.
  7. And that's why we keep seeing Castro trying to make these plays... because sometimes he can.
  8. And the Cubs are taking advantage of it. And an Aaron Heilman sighting. Apparently he was in the running to start for the Diamondbacks. Let that sink in. Mind-bottling. It's not that crazy-Braden Looper was in the run for the Cubs job after all. Heilman could be one of those guys who could have been a mediocre reliever or a mediocre starter in the league. Looper was in the running in the sense that if he showed up in camp and magically started shooting laser beams out of his fingertips and Cashner and Silva had a slapfight (over Silva eating Russell and Coleman alive) that ended up with both of them needing TJ surgery, then Looper might have been the 5th starter.
  9. Glad to see the offense giving Cashner a cushion.
  10. Add - Carlos Pena Drop - Evan Longoria I don't suppose I can just tell you to reverse that add/drop when Longoria comes off the DL, can I?
  11. 2 Walks, Barney singled. People following on GameDay are going to be really confused, all it says is Fuku walks, Barney scores, Hill to 3rd. Whatever happened, it broke ESPN's game center thing. For those that didn't see, Montero tried to pick Koyie Hill off 2nd base after ball 4 and it got into center field.
  12. I love Castro. Sucks Fukudome got thrown out, but it wasn't a bad attempt.
  13. Cubs hitters seem to be seeing Enright well. 4 batters and 4 well-hit balls so far.
  14. Because that approach worked so well with Corey Patterson. Dusty was actively trying to change Corey from a power guy to a "slap the ball on the ground and use your speed" guy.
  15. I fully expect him to be. It seems very Cubs to make sure the rookie pitcher has a veteran defense-oriented catcher behind the dish for his starts.
  16. Glad to see Cashner get off to a good start.
  17. Is Beltran a RF now? I know they moved him over to keep him healthy, but are his days over in CF? Even still, shifting Fukudome over to center and calling up Jackson late in the season to split time and ease him in would make this club better. But are the Mets really interested in letting Beltran go? And Reyes has no interest in moving to 2B, does he? I know Alderson isn't pleased with his OBP, but do you really seem them parting ways? Reyes is a FA after the season. If the Mets are out of it (and they will be), he should be available. Whether he'd be willing to play 2B is another question. He did it earlier in his career, but I don't know how he feels about it now.
  18. I don't like seeing Hill in the lineup more than anybody else. I do like seeing he's batting 8th though.
