Some quotes from this thread: As a Cub fan, I would take NO pleasure if this is true I do not want to see this pan out to be true. I'd be disappointed if this proved to be true I wouldn't be surprised but I'm not accusing yet. I despise the Cardinals as much as anyone, but something like this isn't just bad for Pujols or for the Cardinals if it's true. And if this ends up true, it wouldn't be all that bad for baseball. I'd love to just throw down and full-on accuse Pujols, because honestly I've suspected him for years. But I've got to wait for more evidence than this, even if it does come from a Cards-friendly site. ...and that's just a sampling. I don't see this rush to judgment you're speaking of. So I hope you're speaking of people outside this site, because frankly, the posters here have been very careful to reserve judgment. You are right, for the most part, about posters on this forum and thank you for posting that. It is refreshing to see those posts and it is easy to forget that a lot of people are waiting for the truth. I guess it is just frustrating in general how a lot of people just jump to conclusions so fast regarding rumors...I do not understand why in our society people love to build people up just to tear them down...thank you again for the reminder that this is not the goal of everyone.

Other comments made by Sweeny on the radio... --says he would bet every penny he owns that mihlfeld and albert are innocent. --very passionate. --called deadspin a bootleg website. --threatened to hire a lawyer to go after that website if mihlfeld's business is hurt. --also said he DOES know who the actual trainer mentioned in the affidavit is and it is not mihlfeld.

He denied involvement, that should be no surprise. Palmeiro told all of America he had never used steriods. Period. We all know how his story ended. this is different. It has been rumored his name was in the affidavit. That is where all of this started. He is saying his name is not in the affidavit at all...it is easy to prove one way or the other unlike other things. Either his name is there or it isn't...I have seen somewhere else that the number of spaces crossed out does not even add up to the amout of letters in his name...let the rumors fly. That's not exaclty a scientific conclusion you have come up with. If by his denial you believe people will just stop digging into him and his relatioship with Pujols you are wrong. by the way, I hope people dig all they want. I have no problem with that. But this is not that. This is a site saying a persons name is on an affidavit and the other person saying it is not at all. This will be proved either way. This is about a site posting a rumor and people jumping all aboard with no proof whatsoever...and then if his name is not there it doesn't matter because the damage is done... wait, you are saying that Mihlfield said his name isn't in the affidavit? How would he know? he didn't give the affidavit, and I doubt the authorities would come to him to reassure him that he wasn't named...so who cares what the trainer said? If I'm misunderstanding you then please explain who said that Mihlfield isn't in it, unless its Grimsley or the authorities, I wouldn't buy it. Did you read the latest article that was posted on here with Mihlfield denying all of this? He said Grimsley and his attorney told him his name was not on the affidavit at all. like I said until Grimsley says that he's not on it, I don't buy it. If I'm under that kind of pressure and guilty, I would freaking lie to get the media to back off. So I guess to me it doesn't prove he is and doesn't prove he isn't. well, hopefully the truth comes out soon, but I disagree about the guilty lying part. Everyone knows the name on that affidavit will become public so it really does make no sense to lie about it. No comment is the typical guilty response in those instances because when the name comes out if you lied about that no one will believe another word that comes out of your mouth...the other thing is that Grimsley was asking a trainer for a supplier of greenies at the time...that supplier later hooked him up with the illegal stuff not the trainer...link is page 14 of the affidavit...

Here's the article: http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/14781295.htm In it he even says they have the wrong name of the trainer...

That's not exaclty a scientific conclusion you have come up with. If by his denial you believe people will just stop digging into him and his relatioship with Pujols you are wrong. Deadspins article was even less of a scientific conclusion, but here we are... it is really simple...either it is his name listed or it isn't, right? If his name is not there and he says it is not isn't that enough? We know the name that is there will come out, hopefully soon, so it makes no sense for him to say his name is not there if it really is... Mike Sweeney was just on the radio as well (Mihlfield was his trainer as well) and said this about Mihfield and Albert. "I would bet every last penny that they are not guilty of any wrong doing." I believe Sweeney is suspected of having the same "relationship" with mihlfield, so that doesn't surprise me that Rafael Sweeney would say that. so what you are saying is you can not win? If they didn't deny it it proves they are guilty, but if people do stand up and deny something right away that doesn't prove anything either? Well you are right it doesn't prove anything at all. Neither does the article deadspin wrote...so why are people so quick to believe a rumor on a website? better "news" I guess...

So they said Chris Mihlfield was the name in the affidavit but since now he is denying that in the article, which is easy to prove one way or the other, this was all a waste of time...
-
yeah, but if the team is good it is usually hard to trade up anywhere...I would think that would be a good thing not a bad thing...I am sure trading up in KC is not a problem but what are you really watching...
-
not true... A few years ago Matheny cut his hand with a hunting knife right before the playoffs...that was a huge deal for the pitching staff. The year we traded for Rolen he is in a collision and out of the playoffs. Last year Sanders was one of our best post season hitters and went down hard and our best setup man, Al Reyes, went down the last day of the season. These are just a few of our post season injuries not to mention the reguler season injuries that the Cardinals do go through. They just seem to get through them and keep winning so you do not hear about them as much. Injuries are only an excuse when you do not work through them and win some games.

Possibly because it's still a work in process. Thought it was completed now? The seating areas are done and people are sitting there, but the left field corner still has a fair amount of work. Still pretty messy in that area. Gotcha, I guess I was thinking the left upper deck was the last part to be done. Straight out from left to left center field, is that what's left of the old stadium? yes, that is where Ballpark village is going along with the Cards hall of fame...

Carpenter is pitching tomorrow, and Albert has been on how many covers in his career? Out of all the SI covers he has been on, this is the first time in his career on the DL...

I can't say you deserve a WS anymore than any other team. I don't really remember the '82 WS win so I hope I get to see one soon. What you guys do deserve is a shot at the post season and what happens from that point on is a fun ride...I will agree that with the Cubs large market, dedicated fans, and substantial payroll anything short of post season is a crime. There is no reason for Chicago fans not to have and want what us Cards fans have. Most fans would be happy and do deserve a shot at the post season. The early 90's were some pretty bad times for us as well...

Cubbie Rich, you are really reaching. He has been hitting since he came up...none of this should be a surprise. Players are supposed to get better around the age 26 not 36... Nice touch mentioning his minor league stats from 2000 and then his "power surge" in 2006 but not mentioning he HAS been one of the top HR hitters in the game the other years you skipped over... Since you like to speculate so much how about a player playing average to slightly above average for 4-5 years and then having 1 huge season...(not my thoughts but this should fit in well with your guilty until proven innocent conspiracy theories.) It really is a shame that some people will question all players that have a good season. It is sad it got to this point. In the latest article AP even mentioned he has been tested 3 times so far this season. The HGH thing is probably still a problem around baseball and they need to work that out, but you are clueless if you think the union would allow an individual to take some test on their own. With people like you out there why would a player take the risk of someone tampering with the results... At least it is good to see most people on this board don't agree with your views and allegations either...I'm hoping you are just being an atagonist and that you don't really believe the crap you type.
-
you see the generic uniforms all the time for this kind of thing...they typically just use a similar color scheme to the players current team.
-
Not baseball related but I am going to be really confused every time I see your name...
-
I do not think cubbie rich exists... We have not seen any proof to prove he is who he says...

http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-classic-drugtesting&prov=ap&type=lgns there is debate on if they did test for HGH or not in the WBC...one side says they didn't and the other says it is inaccurate... :?
-
WBC didn't test for HGH did it? the anti-doping something or other was very disappointed with the WBC drug testing. I'm pretty sure they did. I thought they were required to use olympic testing since it was an international competition...I'll have to check on that and make sure I am not incorrect though. From everything I have heard the testing in the WBC was even more strict than the MLB.
-
He played in a little tournament called the WBC, which has olympic style testing. Wouldn't you know they do test for HGH but don't let the details get in your way...nice little fairy tale about the rival HS and stuff. I guess you don't need to back up your stories but you want to see a birth certificate...funny stuff.
-
that sure as heck would be nice...cuz i'm sure they have a life size cut up of Dusty that he will remove a section of clothing off after every win. C'mon dudes, if you win 90 games man you can see dusty naked! of course the wristbands stay on no matter what That's a pretty disturbing picture. That explains everything! They are losing on purpose...
