  1. I received a second chance notice for 10am this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get value dugout seats for April 10 and premium dugouts for the Friday Mets game. Maybe buying only 2 seats for each game helped.
  2. Dont the best records from the regular season do the playoffs? Sad to say, that hasn't come up. There wasn't a game thread forum last time the Cubs made the playoffs.
  3. Does anyone remember what Selig's original proposal was for the Baseball Classic Schedule? Was it every 3 years? I enjoyed the classic more than I thought I would, but the scheduling is such a problem.
  4. Amen. I'd be ticked off beyond belief if the Cubs put winning a spring training game vs anyone above preparing players for the season. Fortunately, I think Lou has the end game in mind.
  5. No kidding. Does 2006 ring any bells? A quick google search comes up with this mea culpa from Sullivan, of all people. Do you consider Hendry's assessment that Wood will be out a few days a "firm timetable?" I don't. I do think that Hendry has been burned enough times by spinning things positively that he should avoid doing so. I don't think it's a case of "they're LYYYING." I do think there have been consistent PR failures (whether that was due to less-than-stellar medical reports early on before those trainers were dismissed, I couldn't say) which contribute to people suspecting the worst from the organization.
  6. The Cubs have a distinguished history of getting injury reports wrong. You can argue until you're blue in the face as to whether there's intent or a long string of coincidences involved. Hendry should know by now to chill on his constantly optimistic spin on injury reports. A healthy Wood is a potent force in the bullpen, but I'm with others here in thinking 'meh' on this. Hope he'll be available sooner rather than later ... but if not, then we'll see how the team shapes up without the two guys that the team spent all off-season trying to ensure that the Cubs didn't have to rely on.

  9. Is that pitch count accurate? If so, that is outstanding. It's not accurate. It records every BB as a 4-pitch AB, every K as a 3-pitch AB and every other batter as a one-pitch AB.
  10. Double-check your bulk email / spam folder; they sometimes end up there.
  11. A radio broadcast of Thursday's game will be available through Gameday Audio. XM won't be carrying it since it's a Cubs home game but WGN radio isn't broadcasting it. Hmm, that's funny. Last time I checked there are no broadcasts until Friday. :? Eh, looks like Seattle changed the broadcast schedule to pick up the other s/s game they're playing, so no broadcast after all.

  13. Very glad you're getting the time to see some of these games, Tim!
  14. I shudder to think of what role they'd cast him in.
  15. The runs are unearned due to a Cedeno error.
  16. I haven't heard yet -- if someone posts an update, I'll edit it into the first post.
  17. This is a combined game thread for the two split-squad games. Game 1, the Padres vs. the Cubs, will be televised on CSN Chicago and available via mlb.tv. 18. We'll put announcements up and people seem to be able to find the Events Forum when there's an actual event to post about. :)
  19. Just an fyi -- this thread will be moved to the events forum in the next couple of days when the HR Derby contest is posted there. We'd like to keep the contests and discussions in the forum once the season starts up.
