    Should be RH Jesse Estrada (4-7, 4.95 ERA) going for the Chiefs; don't know who the Bees pitcher will be.

    Simokaitis waiting for his first hit. I didn't listen to the game, but Grant Johnson was interviewed on the pre-game show. Sounds like everyone he knows will be going to Kane County to see him pitch on Monday. He said locating the fastball and getting his slider working well was the secret to success yesterday.

    The Cubs will play 5 consecutive day games today - Sunday. I haven't checked the forecast, but it was plenty hot there today. The bleacher ushers went around spraying people with water. I hope that the scheduling means that we will see Cedeno pull at least one start over the next 4 games.

If BA has a separate source, perhaps that would explain the .10 discrepency. EETA: Though I'd think that earned runs and IPs should be fairly easily verified, so it was probably just a misprint.

    That was a MONSTER shot. On the pregame show, they said that Jesse Shmidt (sp?) was promoted from Boise to replace Mallory. They also said that there's still one open slot on the 25-man Chiefs roster.

    If Hairston can play a shaky CF, I'd think he could play a shaky LF and at least get on base. Though I'd be interested in knowing what his OBP is once his pickoffs and caught stealings are taken into account. I suppose it would be most difficult to factor in the times he should have scored from 3rd but inexplicably did not.

    I think they're also planning on showing This Old Cub after the Peoria Chiefs game on July 9. But I can't find the link right now ... I'll check back.

    I've liked Karros, too, when I've heard him. I wish the Tribune Co. hadn't felt a need to run out and sign Brenly to, what, a 5-year deal? I definitely like Len more than Chip, but I'm still blah on Brenly, and I'm not sure that's going to change much in the coming years.
