CHRISTOPHER WALKER – WEST TENN DIAMOND JAXX Diamond Jaxx’ centerfielder Christopher Walker sizzled at the plate last week, hitting .480 with a .581 on-base percentage, a .760 slugging percentage and 6 stolen bases to earn Hitter of the Week honors. Walker is currently enjoying a 7-game hitting streak, recording 2 or more hits in five of those contests. Last week, he posted 4 multi-hit games, including two 3-hit contests. On July 3 at Huntsville, the speedy centerfielder celebrated his 26th birthday by going 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and 3 stolen bases. Walker smacked three hits again July 6 against Chattanooga, going 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Two days later, he struck again against the Lookouts, going 2-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBI and a stolen base. The mid-season All-Star currently leads the league with 35 stolen bases and is tied for third in the league with a .311 average. He also ranks second with 106 hits and 7 triples and is tied for fourth with 50 runs scored. The 26-year-old Alpharetta, GA native was the Chicago Cubs’ sixth round selection in the 2002 draft.
