  1. I'll be there with friends on the 8th!! But on Friday the 7th, we'll be firing up the http://www.flee.com/ltd/gueststars/78_horny_ltd_wagon.jpg for a CO Springs road trip to take in a Sky Sox game!
  2. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1046/564991580_4ca3dc6f2f.jpg?v=0 Tom Gorzelanny 3-1, 5.19 ERA, 8.2 IPs, 7:4 K:BB, 1.15 WHIP vs http://cincycoolness.com/images/cueto.jpg Johnny Cueto 8-8, 4.06 ERA, 126.1 IPs, 95:43 K:BB, 1.34 WHIP GO CUBS!

  4. whoa, Vance! It's been awhile since I've checked the standings ... and they've changed a lot!
  5. I assume it's Bradley's "fault" ... but it's the Cubs' problem. For most players, getting out of a slump / improving production will fix behavior/attitude problems. But Bradley has always been an outlier when it comes to behavioral problems, and I'm increasingly concerned that his emotional issues are going to prolong his production issues ... or that by the time he does start hitting, he'll be teetering on the edge of some sort of team/league suspension (or banishment to Lou's doghouse) that will shut him down again.
  6. this isn't 2nd grade, milton. what a complex on this dude Sounds like the Cubs need to get this guy into therapy and on some Prozac. Everyone he names in the quote is black / African-American. And? And? It makes me wonder if part of the reason he apparently feels isolated is because he doesn't have any close friends on the team (or as a coach) who are black.

  8. Congrats to Z! It's fitting that he hit the HR, too. Does he hold the Cubs single-season HR record for pitchers?
  9. I can already imagine the stories about Z missing the team bus.
  10. Is this the second time he's been injured running to first base? I've already lost track.
  11. It used to be. I quite honestly haven't followed all that closely the supposed beefing up of the MLB policy, so I don't know how wide the gap is currently and the timing of policy changes. He did attribute his improvement to his previous weight loss, though, so I can't help but wonder if gaining the weight back has affected his performance, in addition to any nagging injury he may have.
  12. Any weight change prompts speculation -- if he had shown up looking waifish & having lost more weight from last season, 'roid speculation would also be strong. It wouldn't surprise me either way.
  13. Maybe he just finds watching this club to be a painful experience. Randy Wells still manages to catch the team flights ... so far ...
  14. Cubs.com has tickets available for July 27-29. Those games were gold games, so bleachers (which are currently sold out online) were $50/ticket before any fees, etc.
  15. Are they sure it actually hit him?
  16. I could have died happy not knowing that! Thanks, boss! GO CUBS!
  17. That's what teams do when they're not very good. I was at a friend's and was watching the Nuggets-Lakers game with more attention, but did Lou really leave Ascanio in to hit for himself and then immediately went to Cotts the next inning? Great managing there. Brenly thought that Z was supposed to be pinch-hitting for Ascanio there, but wasn't ready for some reason.
  18. That would be some welcome good news.
  19. When 4 second basemen just aren't enough.
  20. They talked about this on one of the XM home plate channel quotes and replayed some earlier comments that Coghlan made on an earlier show. Coghlan said what you mention -- that he was happy to provide personally autographed bats/balls/etc, but didn't feel comfortable asking Hanley Ramirez to fork over an autographed game bat.
  21. Lou mentioned the exchange with the fan in the post-game media wrap and it was written up in the Chicago papers.
