Gio with another late, season-impacting goal. Absolute peak Gio terrible body language leading up to it, too. This is why we love him.

I cleaned the kitchen and mopped the floors. Very productive! And now every Grenedan defender has a great Christian Pulisic story to tell when they’re watching the PL with their friends.

I didn’t believe until his post, but I did a 180 because he has said that the Nigerian FA had never contacted him. So knowing he’d been in our system before, was basically tapping out in England, and is best buds with Musah, I figured I could let myself hope. Is he already our best pure striker ever? If you count deuce it’s a no, but as a pure 9, his current season is better than any other American abroad.

Good combo of outsider with immense credibility and respect combined with an understanding of MLS/the American player/system. I’ll take it. Not super exciting, but I’d take it with optimism.

I’m sensitive to the idea that losing your eldest child would affect you in all kinds of ‘d up ways, including being incredibly over protective of your extremely gifted middle child, especially one who’s talent took him (mostly solo) across the globe to pursue a career at age 16. As a parent, I’m sure that’s been hard. That said, this is as whack as it gets, and if I was Gio, I’d create some temporary distance with my parents until we were able to build some clearly much-needed boundaries. Also, some of this stuff, like Claudio’s misogyny towards the female ref, and the stuff about Claudio demanding USSF fly Gio business class when he was a u-17, is just gross. Just talk horsefeathers in your inner circle like a normal person. Don’t call everyone in the fed every time you’re mildly annoyed. Just stew and bitch in the shadows like everyone else. I mean, flying from Europe to the US in coach is not ideal, but come on, he’s 16. He’ll live.

Kevin Paredes first Wolfsburg goal. He’s one of our biggest upside prospects. If he hits, that would be very good.

I’m glad Wes is getting PL money. I’m glad there is relegation protection before the full sale is triggered. It’ll be fun to watch Leeds. I wish he went to a better, more stable club.

There just isn’t a more competitive athletics competition in the world than the premier league. Spending, infrastructure, coaching, branding, and of course talent. The margin for error is incredibly thin and the city dynasty is a) extremely well run, b) had a five year head start on developing all of those things. It makes it very hard for the other clubs to stay the course like arsenal did. Arsenal is in this position almost entirely because they don’t spend the same as Chelsea, United, etc. is it sustainable when the super spenders start coming for Odegaard, Saka, etc? No. They’ll regress. And the spurs/Chelsea/United model of hitting reset at manager every 18 months until they hit on a perfect fit doesn’t work. I think this is just life in the premier league now. It’s f’in tough.

Chelsea always seem like they’re just looking for a reason to fold. Give them any reason to lose their horsefeathers and they will.
