  1. A 21 year old American carrying 2 Louis bags, wearing tight ass capri’s and getting papped up in an airport en route to signing with a mega club. Folks, we made it. Feels good. Feels right.
  2. horsefeathers that ham headed hair plug horsefeathers. I hope he walks into traffic and dies.
  3. not sure where you got this - I think he will leave. Twitter of course. This saga has a lot of posturing and speculation.
  4. Would love to think Pirlo specifically wants him, but this reeks of marketing to the American consumer. I just want him to play every match for a few more years, but this is definitely exciting for him. He’s got a very Italian game tho. Sort of a hyper-athletic DiRossi. I could see him benefiting tactically similarly to Michael Bradley.
  5. Wow. Never mind. Messi announces he's out and all of his enemies on Barca's board are forced to resign and he's immediately back in. Good for him. Flex away, king.
  6. Messi is officially leaving Barca and he should definitely come to MLS. Going to Man City or whatever is meaningless at this point in his career. He has zero need to add to his legacy in Europe. He should just come here, dominate, make tons of money, and be totally anonymous off the field.
  7. And their starting left center back isn't always 100% defensively sound either. Although that Ream-Robinson left side combo is pretty slick going forward.
  8. Works for me.
  9. TAA will deservedly win, but still very cool.
  10. Top 4 finish. Champions league semis. FA Cup final. That is absolutely killer for a rebuilding year. Arsenal & United would kill for a rebuild like that. On balance, Lamps absolutely killed it. It’s really tough to balance results with important squad evaluation opportunities that well. I used too many variations of “kill.” You still get it.
  11. Yes, he had an excellent free kick goal, however if Willian had been playing instead, Pulisic would have had a hat trick. Conservative estimate imo.
  12. Mount starting. That’s a mistake. Kepa on the bench. Not a mistake.
  13. even better than expected. Dude. Pulisic's recent form has really exposed how deep my US Soccer PTSD goes, because I've always believed he was objectively talented and driven enough to do stuff like this, and yet I'm torn between shocked and vindicated every time he does something legitimately world class. I'm so used to American being better than the haters expect rather than straight up dominant that when he grabs a game by the throat, against a defense as good as Liverpool or Man City's, I'm caught off guard every time. I think deep down, I thought he could be a valuable piece on a team like Chelsea. On par with a Joe Cole, Willian, Malouda, Gudjohnson. To see him do truly elite horsefeathers on a level a tick above those guys at 21 is a totally new feeling as a USS die hard. The anxiety has pivoted from "will we ever produce a world class player" to "will our incompetence waste a world class player?" I'm excited about the implications, because having a talent like him should attract better managerial/coaching talent if Berhalter can't get it done.
  14. https://www.bavarianfootballworks.com/2020/7/9/21318042/chris-richards-transfer-news-rumors-loan-bayern-munich-bundesliga-chelsea-arsenal-valencia-belgium Lots of big time interest in Richards, but Bayern have him in their long-term plans and only want a loan within the Bundesliga to keep him close.
  15. You're right, but man, he'd be a good fit for their style. I think he'd break in. Especially based on the kind of money they'll have to spend to get him. For a club like wolves, something around $25m is a huge, significant investment.
  16. A lot of scouts are super high on Dest, but I've never seen it with the Nats. He was good at the youth level, but his U-20 team was really, really good at every position, so he didn't necessarily stand out. Not to mention that all Senior Team analysis comes with the great big Berhalter asterisk of how he really doesn't necessarily about putting players in the best position to succeed during friendlies. Also, and perhaps most significantly, I'm not a scout and don't know what I'm looking for 95% of the time. What makes me nervous about Dest is Bayern wanting a loan rather than a buy and Barca being in such dire financial straights looking for long-term flyers that might help them survive a multi-year financial downturn. I feel like if he was as good as Alphonso Davies, they wouldn't be looking for a loan. Chris Richards is apparently doing really well there, so that's exciting. A lot of people really high on him at CB.
  17. I love Wes McKennie. I think his mean streak, his vocal leadership, and his all-in committed style of play make him a logical choice to be USMNT captain now and for a long time. That said, some of the clubs he's being linked with have to be BS/agent floated. https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/weston-mckennie-expected-to-exit-schalke-clubs-in-england-spain-france-germany-monitoring-situation/ He is not a PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, City-caliber player. Moving to a club like that at 21 will seriously stunt his growth. I would love to see him at Everton, Wolverhampton, or Leicester, where he could actually compete for a regular starting spot.
  18. You know I love MLS, and for some reason, I have like zero anticipation for this bubble tournament.
  19. Lamps loves some zonal marking.
  20. Pulisic healthy and starting today. Hell yeah.
  21. We’re probably gonna have two American managers at massive, historic bundesliga clubs if the Marsch-Dortmund rumors are true. What a time to be alive. World class American player. American managers at huge European clubs. A national team as weak as its been in 20 years. Truly bizarre. God dammit.
  22. Pulisic is a really special player, man. If he were a Croatian and I were a Chelsea die hard, I’d be screaming for him to start every match he’s healthy for. There’s a forced humility and expectations management thing going on because he’s American and we’ve been burned before, but it’s long past obvious that he’s already what we all thought Landon could become after the ‘02 cup. The national team’s slump has cost his reputation, but he’s absolutely capable of being a Robben/Figo/Sterling level global star winger if he stays healthy. Go back and look at some of our posts when he started getting playing time. We were all hesitantly declaring him one of their best attacking options, and despite MANY setbacks (health & COVID), he’s only gotten better & more obviously influential on the games he plays. We have got to get our national team’s horsefeathers together because we’ve never had anything like him.
  23. I actually think Abraham has great off-ball movement and the problem is that his main facilitators (Mount) don't find him. He and CP are their best young players by a mile. Watch Tammy Abraham play when Pulisic is on the field. The only mistakes happen when they both make the same run which happens more with him and CP than anyone else, because they both make smart runs. When they're on the field together, Abraham looks better. More space. Better facilitation. CP running at defenders with the ball at his feet frees him up a ton. I like TA quite a bit. Think he's got a ton of potential and is already an efficient finisher, which is the hardest thing to develop at that level. https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/club-news/you-can-do-that-when-you-have-him-lampard-explains-the-importance-of-christian-pulisic/ Thanks, Frank. Glad to get confirmation that this was the extent of your game plan: I don't know if he's a good manager, but he's fun and weird. I'll give him that. Can't wait until he plays Liverpool with the exact opposite game plan for no discernible reason.
  24. I feel like they're doing Liverpool 4 years ago stuff. Just loading up on talented attackers from other leagues while ignoring the backline for now. Eventually, they'll have to make their van Dijk type splash if they want to win anything real. It does remind of the "true german pervert" tweet description of Lampard's tactics. He truly does not GAF about consistency and will try some truly wild lineup combos to see what he can find. It's only going to get more fun as he experiments with a deeper attacking roster, but his allegiance to playing Mount every minute of every game is a short term liability. Long-term, I get it tho. He's trying to develop his Jordan Henderson and that starts now, not 3-4 years from now when they're really ready to compete for doubles and trebles. He's determined to find out if Mount can get to that level and that only comes with reps.
  25. With so many changes in our world since the PL season started lo those many months ago, it’s comforting that some things never change. Lampard is still tactically bizarre. Mount & Barkley are still trash.
