  1. I think the key takeaway is that the English press was legitimately surprised, and that pretty much tells you all you need to know about how provincial they are.
  2. https://twitter.com/ucloncbssports/status/1336441772227112966?
  3. Apparently Alvarez is only on for the camp as he isn’t prepared to do the one-time switch for a BS friendly during covid. I don’t know much about him beyond the hype. Certainly love the idea of packing a future el tri building block. Also for the record, I am team Dike > Akinyola. Really hope he makes a statement in camp.
  4. Greggg called up every fence-sitting, dual-international forward in the pool. Efrain Alvarez & Daryl Dike...hello.
  5. Sergi Roberto is out several months so should be plenty of PT available for Dest. First Barca goal - did he have a CL goal for Ajax? Only in the domestic cup. He played less than 40 games for Ajax. It's been a quick, quick rise. More than anything, I love his mentality. He has that Clint Dempsey gear in terms of not giving a horsefeathers and being willing to try stuff at any given time. It doesn't matter if he's playing in the Champions league or in a BS friendly against Panama. He'll find a way to flex on whoever he's playing. He's just audacious.
  6. Dest is a true bad boy.
  7. Nailed it.
  8. We need a striker so bad. Giaocchini and Soto with two each, but neither one of them are showing much more than all of our strikers in the pool. A game changing striker and Pulisic's papier mache hamstrings are the only things standing between the US and actually being elite for the next 10 years. Unfortunately, I'm very worried about the long term possibilities for both of those issues.
  9. Hope Musah is having a good time in camp because this kid is legit AF.
  10. If your country has to put it's national team on pause for over year, it's nice when they return with an incredibly talented, dynamic, and young squad that knows how to play in the system that the coach has built. Dest, McKennie, and Adams are by far the best players on this field so far. Musah and Reyna combined are one year older than Michael Bradley. Even old ass Lletget is vibing out there. If it was Pulisic instead, we'd probably be looking at a 2-0 game, but I still like what Seb is doing out there.
  11. Coach triple G turning into a good recruiter. First Dest now Musah. https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/11/04/yunus-musah-usmnt-camp-valencia-england-ghana-italy-berhalter
  12. Yeah. Listening to the episode Taylor Rockwell posted got to me too. Just senseless. What the hell happened to Coutinho?
  13. https://twitter.com/BrianSciaretta/status/1316548241249402887?s=20 This kid is apparently already ear marked for RB Leipzig.
  14. Mexico is playing The Netherlands in Amsterdam today (and leading 0-1 with 15’ left) - not sure why the USMNT isn’t playing a game somewhere. they're ready for the world cup. No practice needed. You may start to see a trickle of news that the US government is currently completely incompetent. This. It is currently extremely difficult for Americans to get travel visas because other countries don’t trust that even our international footballers won’t cause an outbreak in their countries. The list of countries Americans can travel to right now isn’t very long.
  15. We are too pathetic a country to be able to handle the logistics/quarantining/visas of international competition. But if everyone wanted to chill in Orlando for a few months to get some friendlies off, we can do that. Jesse Marsch got a new toy. How cool to have a prospect like Aaronson (good not great) be able to play for an American manager with a vision for how to maximize him?
  16. Truly magical to watch spurs fans lose their mind about Mourinho’s decisions only to see him stack points. They know what’s happening. It happens everywhere he goes. He’s squeezing maximum points while molding the club in his image. In one to two years everything will go to hell and when he leaves they won’t have Dele, & Kane and Sonny will have permanent degrading injuries that shorten their careers because Jose pressured them to play to get his results. But he will give them one season that fully maximizes his squads potential before everything breaks bad and he leaves their club in ashes.
  17. https://twitter.com/briansciaretta/status/1312770637161803777?s=21 Appears that Richards is the main beneficiary of Dest choosing Barca.
  18. English commentary team compared Gio to a young Zidane today and I was like, “bro come on” and then I realized that he was by far the most dominant player on the pitch and pulled every string perfectly to relentlessly tilt the field towards Freiburg’s goal while making it look super easy and put 4 balls on a silver platter for his teammates to finish. It’s been a long time since we watched Zidane, but that was pretty much what he did that made him special. Madrid or Barca should drop the bag and buy Gio & Haaland together. It’s a special combo. Just look at what Gio did to this poor man’s ankles before laying off the slide rule pass to Haaland on the third goal: Good luck, CONCACAF.
  19. Ok ok ok Gio Reyna is our CAM for the next 15 years. Dude is reaching surgical levels of precision in his movement & passing in the attack. He’s also Dortmund’s corner taker already and that has low key been a big weakness for the MNT since Landon “retired.” 3 assists today, should be 4. We need a real #9 in the worst way. It’s the missing ingredient. We will be a legit contender to win the World Cup in ‘26 if we develop a striker in the Pulisic/Reyna class level.
  20. Dude has a $475,000,000 buyout clause. Damn.
  21. Always knew we'd have Americans playing at the biggest clubs, and the Ramos U-20 teams were the first glimpse that we were getting close, but it's still pretty cool to see it actually happen.
  22. https://smarterscout.com/articles/champions-league-fc-barcelona-sergino-dest-ajax-amsterdam-usmnt-nelson-semedo-sergi-roberto-lionel-messi-hector-bellerin-seamus-coleman Good breakdown of how Dest fits in at Barca.
  23. Is Serg Dest the USMNT’s first iconic clout douche? Another important step in our development as a soccer nation. Jermaine Jones had the douche but not the profile or talent.
  24. The Dest move will not be a loan. The bidding war has moved beyond that. Also, welcome to the Gio Reyna rumor mill (already). https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2020/09/24/reyna-to-liverpool-jorginho-to-arsenal-transfer-news/
