  1. Liverpool Leipzig at Anfield screams over to me. Surely there's another goal in this game.
  2. It's a weirdly constructed roster. Frank played him 90 every chance he could when they were fighting for a top-4, and the team may be more talented now, but I haven't seen a single thing that would lead me to believe CP can't cut it at Chelsea. I think the biggest issue here is a lot of redundant pieces and some key missing pieces. I look at that roster and don't see it as purpose-built for any particular style or tactical formation. I think Tuchel is really struggling to find his best 11 that works as a team, rather than his most talented 11. I'm not saying everything is going to work for Christian at Chelsea, but I also don't see him as the problem yet. Look at Kepa. Kepa was TRASH against Burnley and now he's getting another start. Tuchel is clearly trying to figure out what's what with this roster, and even if he doesn't currently think CP is a starter, I think it will shake itself out eventually.
  3. Chelsea really could’ve used a shifty winger that can break the press and advance possession by dribbling. Instead they had a very short, anonymous false 9. Dike going for a header against Abraham and just absolutely rag dolling him is my only highlight.
  4. Terrible defensive marking aside, slick finish.
  5. Big Wes is an extremely interesting player. ELITE at everything except passing. Shows an insane work rate but also hyper-intelligent off-ball movement.
  6. I am no longer buying Tuchel's reasons for leaving CP out.
  7. Is that how he plays for the national team? With Berhalter I think he's been more of a wide creator or more of a pure 10. That said, if he can do that(I'd be a little worried about him getting hurt again fighting center backs every week) that would be an elegant solution to the USMNT's #9 dilemma, since the winger pool is a lot further along than the strikers. It's not necessarily how he's been deployed, but it aligns with what Berhalter has been saying over the last year (a year in which he hasn't actually been able to play CP). Both managers have similar issues in an abundance of goal dangerous wingers and attacking mids, but weak forward play. They're both trying to find a way to get their max talent in their 11.
  8. https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2021/02/03/pulisic-new-position-tuchel-chelsea-usmnt/ Interesting comments from Pulisic about Tuchel’s plan for him at the false 9. That’s similar to how Berhalter sees him for the MNT, so if it works out, he’ll be deployed tactically the same for both teams. That’s a first for CP.
  9. https://twitter.com/asromaen/status/1356273106759921665?s=21 This is fucked up to me
  10. Hopefully he’s making proactiv $ now
  11. Matt Turner becoming a legit #1 contender in goal is a huge development. We’re weirdly thin there. I think he’s really good though.
  12. Short term loan to his former Bayern youth team coach is really great. Seems Bayern does a good job with their loan program comparatively.
  13. Yup. That 5 years was just a huge chunk of history when you think about it. Huge. lol - hi cards fans. Glad you weren't in DC on the 6th. lmao tarp been doing this to you guys once a year for almost two decades. respect.
  14. I am so ready to watch Weston McKennie play in front of 100,000 piss-throwing, vaccinated El Tri fans in an Azteca qualifier someday. God damn that will be fun.
  15. This is the type of thing you see in a video game and scoff at for the lack of realism, but it makes a strange amount of sense. Long did not have a good 2020 though so you'd hope being in a better side and away from the weird pandemic schedule would get him back to form. This was my thinking exactly. If you want a competent body that follows orders and executes but will cost you pretty much nothing, it's a great move. As someone who wants Aaron Long to play regularly, it's a bad move. He can absolutely do a job, and tide Liverpool over with their depth issues, but once those issues clear up, he'll be stuck to the bench (if he's lucky enough to make the bench). He's 28 and a mid-table talent, but as long as he's getting 90 minutes every week next season (for world cup qualifying), might as well give yourself the satisfaction of wearing that jersey for a while.
  16. Well taking what he told CP at face value, he told him he has a much better handle on what Christian can do than any of the other young attackers he hasn't already worked with and he wanted to see what he was working with, particular with C.H-O. & Havertz. I am enjoying the Wes love fest.
  17. Things at Chelsea going about as expected under Tuchel. Get comfy on the bench, Mason. Might be there for awhile.
  18. The only players with positional and tactical stability under Lampard have been Mount and Thiago Silva. I'm with you in terms of only really caring about CP's development, but he's hardly the only guy on the squad that Lampard struggled to find highest and best use for. In fact, he's one of the few in the tier right below Mount and Silva in terms of consistent usage when fit.
  19. Tuchel in as replacement. Great news for Pulisic & the young, foreign attackers. Interesting to find out what it means for the young English contingent.

  21. ESPN+ continues to be a worthwhile purchase.
