  1. I don't have a tree. When I was a kid I always wanted a huge real tree. Then one year my dog kept knocking the tree over and my dad made me clean in up and set it back up every time. Now I'd go fake.
  2. I bet you would have gotten skin cancer from all the Kentraviolet ray exposure if you weren't a devout Kentist.
  3. huh? Ian Scott was getting simply abused last sunday. http://www.ksdk.com/assetpool/images/06431113_steven%20jackson.jpg He breaks arms.
  4. I think they are set on Duncan being the full-time left fielder due to the lack of other options. Ideally I'm sure they would like to get rid of Encarnacion and turn Duncan into a trade for a starting pitcher, but I don't think they will find a suitable deal. The only position we needed to find a body for this offseason was second base and with Kennedy they've handled that so until they get one or two more starters, I doubt they worry about any position players.
  5. Because he is a bad play-by-play guy? Perspective?
  6. Did you read like the 5 times I said "as of now"? I figured a plain reading of the text would show plainly that I know the off season is far from over. But there's not a whole lot left to put them over the edge. So I would just keep the lineups updated as that off season goes along, but thats just me. Easy there. I was just pointing out the fact that discussing this now isn't very constructive. I think that came off more harshly than I meant it. BUUUT....more than anything it shows that the Cardinals and Astros more holes to fill will less to fill them with. I think its constructive to see where everyone stands now, and who has to add what. I never thought the Cards had a legitimate shot to get Schmidt, but when they finally officially lost out, I got a whole lot more pessimistic about our offseason. Jocketty is going to have to pull off a serious coup or two before the off season is over. This off season reminds me a lot of the pre '04 off season. Hopefully with similar results. It is disheartening to realize that in the '04 off season, Walt had an incredibly talented, power-hitting outfielder to deal that fixed a lot of our holes. We don't have that this year. If he wants to repeat, he'll have to deal some chips that we probably don't want to see dealt (Hawksworth, Garcia, Rasmus, etc). A lot of heavy rumors from reliable sources that the Cards have a good chance to land Carl Pavano. That wouldn't be terrible, but we already have question marks in Wells, Reyes and Wainright. Don't really need to depend on another. Hendry might be handing out seemingly bad deals, but at least he is doing something to improve his team.

  8. I'd wait until the Astros and Cardinals complete their 25 man before I started this thread, but that's just me.
  9. Hold on a sec... I know this is terrible news for you guys, but the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is not a credible source? This is from an article by the Cardinals beat writer in a top 15 circulation newspaper in the country. A few reasons why I think this is legit: 1) the Dispatch submits it's online articles at midnight, so this is before most sources would pick it up on the wire. They are more concerned with making deadline at that point. 2) The Post-Dispatch is a major national newspaper and Strauss rarely jumps the gun. It's possible that this is all a cruel joke and he jumped the gun, but I'm sorry; I doubt it.
  10. For what its worth, 2 of the most highly thought of pitching coaches already gave up on him because of the mental issues. He has talent. Look at his game logs and the bi-polar stretches. 4 great starts, 6 terrible ones, etc. It's there, he just can't do it consistently. If you believe control is an inherent talent and much like plate discipline can't be taught effectively, like I do then you probably aren't a fan of this deal. If you do believe it can be taught then you have reason to be optimistic. Either way I'm glad to finally be rid of the bane of my existence. Now all I have to do is wait out Aaron Miles.
  11. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/67D9BDED00F7EC7C8625723F001967A7?OpenDocument GOOD LUCK WITH THAT CRAP
  12. Isringhausen would have to prove to me that he could be an effective closer again. At times last year he looked washed up. How much was physical, how much was mental and how much he is just done remains to be seen. I agree, but I'd be up for a Kinney/Looper/Flores/Johnson committee until he is back.
  13. Isringhausen is apparently going to be ready early and Jocketty wasn't going to get held up in this market for pitching. If there are no trades made, Wainright would/should start.
  14. Gordon, PJ, number one pick is about all I'd want to give up. Wouldn't get it done, but I'd try. Frankly I'd rather try to get Pao Gasol for much, much cheaper.
  15. You would have to avert your eyes or risk death. No one can behold the full glory of Kent and live. Teams who have Kent should sell those eskimo snow goggles with little slits in them on days he pitches.
  16. This is sarcasm, guys. Bernie is hit and miss. Also, I think it's funny that when he is a Cardinal he is a soft tossing bum who is just lucky to have been dipped in some weird Cardinals magic, but now he is a good target for the Cubs. He doesn't deserve near the money he'll get. Does anyone this offseason? A few. I like the Piazza deal, both Cardinals signings have been reasonable, there have been a few more.

  18. I guarantee Schmidt wouldn't get more than 4 for 48 mil from the Cards. That's the best offer I could see. A more realistic would be 3 for 36 with an option for a 4th at 12 mil. If the Cubs are serious about Schmidt, there is no way the Cardinals outbid them. None.
  19. Addai, but all are iffy.
  20. Here's my theory. It's more of a theology really. Basically the Cubs ran Kent out of town unceremoniously. You could say that the Cubs were his chosen people, yet they for lack of a better word, "crucified" him. He rose again with the Reds. When he returns to the Cubs, it will usher in a new kingdom for 1000 years, a new "millennial kingdom" if you will. During this reign the Cubs will win every game of every season. When this happens, all who follow other teams will be separated from Kent and will be punished by never beating the Cubs. Followers of other teams, gentiles of the baseball world, who follow Kent will swear allegiance to Kent above all others and be allowed to thrive in his kingdom despite the errors of their past.
  21. Smoke screen. Just trying to keep the incoming starters not named Carpenter motivated.
  22. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y274/krkhinrich/jesuscall.jpg Forgive him, Kent. He knows not what he does. You're lucky it is the Kentmas season.
  23. I believe that Kent only allows Stone freedom for a time until Kent's glorious kingdom is established.
  24. Kent, no other man, can stand up next to you Kent, no other man on the planet does what you do (what you do). You're the kinda guy, a girl finds in a blue moon. You got soul, you got class. You got style, you bad ass - oh yeah! Kent, no other man its true - alright - Kent, no other man but you.
