  1. Silva----------Torres--------Cazorla -----------Xavi-----Fabregas-------- ---------------Alonso---------------- Capdevila--------------------Ramos ------Marchena----Puyol--------- ---------------Casillas--------------- That is absolutely frightening and it's not even their first choice squad.
  2. Here is the US Starting linep: -------------------Johnson-------------------- Lewis--------------Adu---------------Dempsey --------------Bradley----Edu------------------- Pearce---Bocanegra---Onyewu----Cherundolo -------------------Howard---------------------- This I can live with. I just want Dempsey and Adu taking dudes on with the ball at their feet. Bradley getting forward with menace and Edu tracking back like his first name is Claude. Obviously, f Eddie Johnson and what not, but I'm just happy to see a non 4-4-2 and Freddy Adu as the CAM.
  3. It's official. http://www.soccerbyives.net/ My interest in MLS just took a significant drop. I guess Jorge Flores is my guy now. Also, according to marca.com, the deal is for 10 million Euros, which is around $15 mil. That is one hell of a transfer fee for an MLS player. If Jozy earns that fee, this could truly be the first big step in the mainstream acceptance of the American soccer player abroad. All the groundwork laid by the guys in the 90's like Reyna, Friedel, McBride, Wynalda and all the current guys like Howard, Beasley and Dempsey is being taken advantage of by this young crop of player like Bradley, Jozy and Freddy.
  4. As I understand it, Rui Costa was the cause of all the problems at Benfica last year. He was basically the unofficial Director of Football while still playing. He hired and fired all the managers. Now he is retired and was named the official Director of Football, but there are still plenty of Brett Favresque rumors about him coming back. That place is a mess, I don't even know if they have a manager yet. If he stays upstairs and they settle on a good manager, then I'm fine with Freddy staying. I know the fans love him and his goals per minute rate was tops on the team, but I'm not sure where he stands with Costa. I think Szetela is still at Brescia, but La Liga/Seria A is fine either way for me as long as he plays. You're right about the EPL. Unless you are on one of the big 4 or Tottenham, you're not going to be playing good, technical football. I thought Szetela was at Racing. Did they loan him to Bresia? Yeah. This is from his wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Szetela

  6. Wow, I'm psyched if this is true. I really, really wanted him to develop in Spain. Villarreal will be a great situation, especially with a loan to get lots of pt. Next step is giving Freddy 90 minutes against Spain so he can have a similar buy. Edit - Ives is reporting Recreativo Huelva is the potential loan side.
  7. ESPN 2, 4:30 cst. :( I still believe he will someday be with the US. 2014 might be a better team to make a real run at the WC. Even if Bradley lasts through 2010 I don't see him here beyond that. I find it hard to see another Bruce Arena type tenure coming. Expectations have at least grown a lot over the past 10 years. After winning about 6 Champions leagues and the obligatory 6 league titles, I don't see Klinnsy leaving Bayern to work for Sunil. Maybe if he wants to ride off into the sunset and semi-retire. I don't know though.
  8. Klinnsmann was such a slam dunk that I don't want to even dwell on it anymore. It's fine, he's better off where he is and at least I have him at the helm of one of my teams. He would've brought the respect, tactical creativity and charisma the US desperately needs.
  9. Sven is in for Mexico. I'm shocked this happened. It'll be weird/annoying playing a real manager.
  10. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=542328&cc=5901
  11. what a girl, even I could hit 1 home run in 10 games Well he just hit one about a half hour ago so he upped the ante on you.
  12. I could fill you in, but I don't think it'd matter. He's going to be just fine. Not sure why you say it like that. Last I had heard they werent even starting him every game, so please fill me in? Injury, something else, what? he's one of the best prospects in baseball, now playing in AAA at the age of 21 He always starts slow. He had a dominant spring and was disappointed about being sent down. He is taking a new, less pull hitting approach at the plate. He has done this his last 10 games: http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm16/dhohulin/Untitled-1-2.jpg
  13. The thing that bothers me the most is that the bench guys aren't getting much playing time anyway. Would an in-form Benny Feilhaber, Altidore, Adu and Kenny Cooper getting major minutes make us that much better? Maybe, but the way we played against England was 30% our players sucking and 70% bad tactics and motivating by Bradley. Also, if you ask me, Bradley has done a piss poor job of developing our strikers. Everyone knows about Jozy at this point, but sticking with Wolff and EJ is inexcusable. Jaqua is an [expletive] JOKE. He was the third choice striker on an admittedly very good MLS team. A nice MLS player, but nowhere near the a national team player. Now all of a sudden he goes to play in a crap European league and he is worth a call up? Screw that. I'm very pro-European when it comes to where our best players should play, but not to that extent. Josh Wolff, EJ and Jaqua offer nothing. Kenny Cooper, Jozy Altidore and Freddy Adu should be playing major minutes. Hell, even Ching. How are we going to know what works up there if we keep trotting out what we know does not work? I don't know if Kenny Cooper is the answer. He probably isn't, that's just not the point though. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope not because that means we aren't as good as I thought we were. All I know is that tomorrow is going to suck. I'm looking forward to Argentina more because with the European season over, Altidore living three blocks from Giants Stadium and MLS players being able to travel that we'll have our first choice squad. Donovan will play because he wants to get his 100th cap at home. We saw at the u-20's how beautifully Altidore and Adu combine. That will be the game that makes or breaks Bob Bradley for me. As of now, I'm not expecting much.
  14. Ha! Vindication! Take that people who doubted me. I need to lose some weight if 7.7 is high.
  15. Just a heads up for you US Soccer fans who may not know who Jorge Flores is, you should. He was the heir to Freddy Adu's U-20 arm band and plays for Chivas USA. The reason he was semi-famous in MLS circles up until the last three weeks is because last year he won a reality show that awarded a developmental contract to the best player off the street who tried out for Chivas. The reason he is famous in MLS circles this year is because he has scored 3 goals in his first 3 games including this class volley last week against Columbus. He's only 18, has a sweet nick name (El Sueno) and looks pretty legit. Keep an eye out. http://goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=720346 Fyi, Chivas plays NY Thursday on ESPN 2.
  16. I could fill you in, but I don't think it'd matter. He's going to be just fine.
  17. Spain Roster. I'm real glad we are trotting out such AWESOME lineups during the biggest string of friendlies in US Soccer history. No Donovan, no Altidore. ------------------------Dempsey--------------- ---------------Adu------------------------------ Lewis--------------Bradley------------Beasley -----------------Mastroeni---------------------- Pearce----Bocanegra---Onyewu---Cherundolo --------------------Howard---------------------- I guess that's what I'd go with. Either Mastroeni or Edu backing the midfield allowing Bradley to get forward. If Freddy Adu doesn't play more than 70 minutes in this game, I'm pissed.
  18. That's a bummer for the Olympics. He was by far our most experienced and best defender.
  19. As if I don't hate Liverpool enough.
  20. Babel is out for the Euros. Tore some ligaments in his ankle. Sorry, sjax. It'd be nice if Liverpool keeps him out of the olympics too.
  21. I'm resigned to the fact that no matter who we put out there, Torres and Villa are going to make all of them look like traffic cones.
  22. http://www.soccerbyives.net Also, apparently Sunil laid a smack down on the FA after the match. As of Wednesday afternoon, those arrogant Brits all thought the 2018 World Cup was theirs for the taking until the oompa loompa whipped it out on them and showed them whats what. We're probably getting World Cup '18.
  23. Here is Kenny Cooper's goal from yesterday against Houston. http://mls.gotuit.com/?c=2008&p=216774&s=3035586&i=297670 With all the long ball we played yesterday and going up agaisnst Rio and JT, Bob Bradley is a joke if he doesn't think a player like Kenny Cooper would have been far, far more useful than Josh MF'ing Wolff. Bah. I realize I'm still whining about a friendly and that's pretty weak. It's just that I'm doing it not because we lost, but because we lost for all the wrong reasons and has been the case with Bob Bradley fielded teams a few times now.
  24. Doubt it, he works in the mail room. I know you are being a smartass but I also know that Roast will know exactly who I am talking about. Cause he works at Wrigley. I know that from his posts. He is obviously a seasonal stadium employee. Only knew the supervisors (since they are full timers) and a handful of the older ushers who work behind home plate. Too many seasonal stadium employees and turnover for any of us to get to know them. Oh thats nice. You full timers can just stay up in your ivory towers and never give the little guys like Roast who are down bleeding in the trenches a second thought. Yet Randy in the mail room is somehow memorable and important enough for you to remember his name and position.
  25. Well basically what I said is that we were missing a few of our best players, England is really good, we were really bad yesterday but we aren't actually a really bad team. Certainly not as good as England, but I'd wager were we to play them 10 times home and away with a full squad, we'd win 2, draw 4 and lose 4.
