  1. I heard Donovan wants to play: http://usa10kit.com/page/2/ They could use a center back and a defensive midfielder.
  2. The olympic team sans Shea beat Mexico's olympic team 2-0. Agudelo with a goal, Diskerrud with a goal and an assist. I did not watch.
  3. That dude. Tim Howard was a monster today. Fabian Johnson looks like the best left back we have, Mo Edu played his strongest in a US kit ever and of course, Michael Bradley: still a star and of course the man himself cannot be denied.
  4. Danny Williams is worthless. 0 positive passes in the attacking third in over 200 minutes with the national team. Seriously.
  5. Also, the nazis in Victory.
  6. Especially on the kind of form he was showing with Everton. He was no joke, one of the best, pure wingers in the world (not that he'd get to be a pure winger with the Nats). Chandler is a huge loss too against a team like Italy. Gooch too I suppose (I'm just used to not factoring him) so what looked like our first, true "A" squad getting tested is now a solid B.
  7. Italy friendly roster: GOALKEEPERS (3) :Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) DEFENDERS (7) :Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Timmy Chandler (Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaelland), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City) MIDFIELDERS (6) : Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim) FORWARDS (5) :Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund), Edson Buddle (LA Galaxy), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy) With MLS out of season, not too much to complain about with this roster. I doubt we'd see Boyd if Agudelo was fit. That midfield is interesting in that a starting midfielder for Anderlecht isn't considered good enough to make our national team for a friendly a few hundred miles from where he plays. That's a new one and probably a good sign, but I like Kljestan better than Williams, Torres and really Edu anyway. I'd also rather see Feilhaber than Torres, but maybe fitness was the concern there. Also, it sounds like Stuttgart are lining up a bid for Chandler this summer.
  8. Eddie Johnson to Seattle could be a brilliant signing. His speed either starting or off the bench, playing with the best attack in MLS? Zakuani, Alonso, Montero, Hernandez and Rosales Is already the best front 5 in the league. He could be a serious catalyst if he can find any kind of form.
  9. Ronaldo is a bad man. http://deadspin.com/5884459/cristiano-ronaldo-seals-hat-trick-with-sublime-strike
  10. Pretty awesome how influential Donovan, Keane & Henry have been in this loan period.
  11. Saha-Adebayor looked like the best forward tandem in the league today. Best they've looked in years. Tottenham is potent.
  12. Charlie Davies returned for Sochaux today @'Rennes in the 78th minute. Good for him.
  13. Clint is the best American player ever. Landon has had a better career because he's been this consistently good for 10 years, but the way Clint has evolved and done it the EPL pressure cooker is astounding. He's such a funky, atypical player too. Not a forward, not a midfielder, he can do it all. He's a Swiss army knife. Also, he's been incredibly durable for club and country. The right manager at the right Champions league club could really do special things with him.
  14. I'm out of action after getting my wisdom teeth out yesterday. Percocet & and the EPL have been clutch for me. Ever ton-Chelsea was great with Everton at their heart/courage/opportunist best. Landon is a master at exploiting a defense's angles from the wing. Suarez made me do something i thought impossible, root for United. Rooney is a bad dude. Suarez is a worthless piece of classless garbage. And Deuce? No one man should have all that power: http://deadspin.com/5884267/clint-dempsey-is-still-scoring-goals-and-this-one-was-a-tactical-nuke
  15. Aw hell yeah. Ya'al ready for some Western Hemisphere futbol? http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/internacional/noticias/2012/02/08/pretenden-nueva-era-en-concacaf It's in Spanish, but they're exploring inviting CONCACAF to Copa America by 2016. F yes.
  16. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/gallery/2012/feb/07/clint-dempsey-football-gallery#/?picture=385560527&index=0 Most of these are dumb, but I liked this one. http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2012/2/6/1328534206032/Dempsey-Gallery-12-012.jpg
  17. Winning the sport's biggest prize, getting married and having a kid within a year made him soft. I think the only thing that could save his game at this point is a move back to Spain.
  18. Bob Bradley interviewed after the tragedy:
  19. He scores with his left, he scores with his right: http://deadspin.com/5881421/ That boy, Dempsey.
  20. Derrick is mad and Wall doesn't fight through picks. It's gonna be fun.
  21. Dallas already turned it down. He wants to go to a big 5 league.
  22. http://usa10kit.com/2012/01/26/dynamo-kiev-in-quiet-shea-bid/
  23. I doubt Deuce moves his family out of London. For me it's either Arsenal or he stays at Fulham. I buy your logic, but if a deal materializes and he gets the chance to double his salary, he'll go where he's wanted.
  24. Deuce is about to get paid this summer. Martin Jol had to issue an official, hand's off today, while Steve Nicol is tapping him up for Liverpool, Arsenal remain interested, Aston Villa are in as are QPR and Newcastle. This isn't even factoring interest abroad.
  25. Ream to Bolton is done.
