    It was his nickname at Notre Dame, for some reason. He got it from preying upon weak secondaries (like a shark), if I'm not mistaken.

    Levine says it'll be done by Monday one way or another. Grains of salt are always required with him, but the various other sources seem to concur that it should be resolved before too long.

    You kid yourself. Any team that could conceivably use a left fielder and can afford him will make him a colossal offer.

    I'm told that Levine on WMVP reported that the Cubs and Dempster are trying to agree on a three/four-year deal.

    That's a very intriguing possibility. I'd sign him to a deal appropriate for a reliever with an excellent track record coming off an injury.
