  1. when did Chad Cordero become a hitter. Closers aren't necessary for teams that score no runs a game. This team needs walk/strike zone instructors.
  2. what the team needs is grinders. We have Theriot. He should be written into the lineup card leading off playing second every day. Soriano should bat fifth w/ Murton second. It will never happen though.
  3. It's not about someone being interested in taking him on, it's about taking him on at the current salary. Big diff. Tucker made nothing while Jones makes way more than he's worth. I said the day he was signed it was a dumb move & we paid too much. Same for DeRosa. Lilly may be in that category before all is said & done. It's time for Hendry to go. He does not know how to build a team. He does not understand OBP. He believes way too much in no field, power-hitting hacks & it shows.
  4. anyone that says they would rather have jockstrap over Ichiro is an idiot.
  5. i've seen some very bad signings as a cub fan over the years, but the Marquis signing followed by lilly are two of the dumbest i've ever seen. we'll regret both for years. guys what sports fans? not only don't we have $ to sign an impact free agent next year, we will be lucky to have enough to sign z who will command serious $. Get ready. You think our starting staff blew last year. this yr will be bad enough but after z bolts....
  6. depends on your definition of mega, but there would be no real talent coming back in a deal involving those two as major pieces.
  7. why not go for lugo at ss or 2B & Soriano in center. Anything short of an impact bat in the OF & one impact starting pitcher is unacceptable. I don't count Drew as the impact bat we need either. I'd get Lugo for short & then package izturis w/ murton to get a starter.
  8. with the loss of aram we will have huge holes to fill & about $35 mill in money to spend. Why would we gamble on anyone? It's time to spend on real players that are not hurt & that are still playing at a high level.
  9. He didn't put them up when it counted (when dlee was out early in the year) & that's what counts. The guy is a loser & needs traded for young talent that has character.
  10. I'd trade him & all the high priced talent as we are not in position to compete next year w/ our position players or pitching staff or outfield defense. Way too many holes. Hire Girardi, trade Lee, Aram & Barrett, Prior & build through the farm system ala the Miami Marlin/D Rays.
  11. we are not going to be contenders so bringing in a washed up 40-plus pitcher is idiotic & Cublike.
  12. trading him or keeping him is a no-brainer. We are out of it this year & he will not be here next year so you move him for a part that can be utilized in the future.
  13. the Cub is way out of it this year & it is well past time to rebuild. They are absolutely not going to trade minor league talent for overpriced underperformers like vazquez & garcia. Why would they? They will be trading our own overpriced vets or vets w/ value for young talent.
  14. He's on record saying he has no interest in pitching for anyone other than a handful of teams and we aren't one of them.
  15. Why would we trade aram for tejada? We are looking to add another bat, not trade one for another. That does us no good.
  16. Am I the only one who really wants this guy even if we get Furcal? Two speedy lefties at the top of the order is just what this lineup needs.
  17. Just curious, but if we don't want Cpat why do we automatically think the Miami Marlin wants him?
  18. What about Washburn? I've heard him rumored in trade talks as well. I think he's been hurt some but seems to be underrated when healthy.
  19. Am I the only one who is intrigued by this? B-squared has proven to be intrigued by minor league talent for proven commodities in the past. We have struggled with a solid southpaw for the rotation in the past. I don't know Zito's salary, but I think he would be a very nice hedge against Woodie's health to go w/ our upgraded bullpen. I agree that adding a leadoff hitter is priority #1 followed by a solid glove at either CF or SS that can also hit at the top of the order. I think adding a lefty starter w/ his kind of arm would be a solid move as well.
  20. I sincerely doubt this is even Bruce Miles. How gullible is that.
  21. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. He wouldn't tell him on the field about a trade. They had to have been talking about chasing Washington in the wild card since they are blowing it down their leg to 'hotlanta.
