  1. ok...so back to my question...
  2. i'm not talking in the report but the actual list of names that are circulating from the report. bonds, sosa, wood, prior & mcgwire are not on the list
  3. bonds, mcgwire & sosa are not on the list. what am i missing?
  4. where is the official list of names being published? I find it odd someone just posts a list from a blog. where is the official list that has been done by a real news organization?
  5. i've found the report. where can you just get the list of names?
  6. you people that wanted him back are zippidy doo da. he will never be healthy again. in fact, he won't even pitch this year until at least june/july. he has lost velocity & movement. he was on record saying he was looking to become a free agent in a year so we'd be dumping more money towards a player that wouldn't be effective this year & would then walk. the lesson is "don't chase stupid".
  7. adam everett is worthless on a major league roster although tejada is not worth the money in a post-steroid era. Roberts gets on base, steals bases, is a great glove, team player, etc. there is not even an argument to be made over derosa. Getting on base is the name of the game. He is a prototypical leadoff hitter (soriano is not) & is a player this club desparately needs in order to compete with baseball's heirarchy of which we are not one of. anyone watching the playoffs last year should know that.
  8. there's only one thing soriano is worst at then leading off & that's playing 2B. Look for him to do neither once the acquisition dust settles.
  9. he doesn't lead off, steal bases & get on base like a madman...so...no thanks
  10. if you are for bringing in kahlil greene then yes i'm talking to you. he is an error & strikeout king. we have enough guys that don't get on base without adding another one. this isn't slowpitch softball. how is it that obp is overrated & striking out is not relevant?
  11. what part of he bats right handed, doesn't get on base, strikes out too much, has a poor batting average & makes a lot of errors don't you understand?
  12. Greene is a strikeout king. why would we want to add another one?
  13. if milton bradley signs w/ the pads then that will be the sign that fuku is coming to chitown. I say he comes to the Cub if Fuku picks San Diego. Although I think we've made the most lucrative offer, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion he is ours. He is not an American so money is less of an issue.
  14. lovchicago...without even knowing it, you agreed w/ my points exactly. I have read moneyball. In fact, I believe it to a "T"...thus my comments. I never said we needed Juan Pierre. I said we needed guys at the top that get on base. Soriano does not. He is way, way too much of a free swinger just like the rest of our lineup. I don't want Figgins, iguchi or fukudome for steals but for OBP. They are very strong with that because they understand the art of getting on base whereas Soriano has no clue. Soriano is a run producer/rbi guy. He is selfish at the plate. We will not win w/ him leading off. Why do you think Piniella wants him out of there? Hendry is the buffoon that simply does not understand or value OBP. The Red Sox resurgance under Theo Epstein is no mistake. They value OBP & making the pitcher labor. We do not. Colorado & Arizona also had better understanding of the strikezone. That's why we went down in flames.
  15. beane would have no interest in Pie as he does not believe in base stealing & values on base percentage & low strikeout totals. He would have no use for Pie at all.
  16. some of you really don't get it. We need a leadoff hitter very badly. Soriano must be moved out of the spot. We need a leadoff & a #2 along w/ a power lefty in the middle of the lineup. If this doesn't happen, we go nowhere again in '08. We need Fukodome in right to leadoff. Someone like Roberts could also leadoff w/ fuko second. If not Roberts, then someone like Iguchi would be a great 2-hole hitter. Then we need a lefty power bat like Drew, Jenkins or the like. Fuko may have to play center in that case.
  17. greene is a strikeout king. no thanks.
  18. beane understands the dow jones of baseball. he knows just the right time to move a guy in terms of performance vs money, motivation, budgetary reasons. GM's in chicago have never understood this.
  19. some of you just don't get it. Did you not watch the playoffs? We lost because we have a team full of free swingers. And you want to add another one? Why?
  20. what part of we are not taking on more salary don't you understand?
  21. this team does not have a lot of talent. it has what most cub teams of the past have had...overpaid, one-dimensional players. The team has been sold & will be spun off again. Jim Hendry is done after this season & he knows it. That's why he overpaid for crap. He will not be selling off anything or doing what's best for the franchise & that is to trade high priced vets for young talent. We are in a mess & won't get out of it until the team is resold & we have a new GM/mgr in place (lou does not want to manage young talent..see Tampa Bay). Only then will they have a chance to be interested in doing what's right long-term.
  22. why would the angels trade for Z when they can just sign him as a free agent? the only way to move him for anything at all would be near the trade deadline to a desparado.
  23. you guys make it sound so easy. dump this guy. move derosa, etc. what you are missing is that no one else wants them & they sure don't want to take on the salary. you have to have a willing participant here & the orioles/pirates can only be had so many times.
  24. some of you use little common sense when you post these non-sensical trades
  25. that is the least of our worries. Getting on base & scoring runs, horrid baserunning, relief pitching & ability to play defense are the glaring deficiencies....in that order. Oh...and building a team that fits together. Get ready for the lilly/marquis mirage to end. It's already starting to show what horrible signs those were.
