  1. I just got home from work and was going to watch the game but since I live in Iowa City I guess I do not get it but I can watch the Iowa Cubs play on channel 22. Maybe they got tired of airing the Cubs getting beat and wanted to change it up by letting people watch the Iowa Cubs get beat for a change?
  2. I was over on Maximonline, reading the articles :), and saw that they had a Baseball's worst managers list and guess who was number 1. http://www.maximonline.com/sports/7th_inning/comments.aspx?id=4566
  3. So, the wind is blowing out to Right field and all of the Cubs left handed power bats are on the bench. I know a lefty is pitching but with Aram out I'd rather see Walker at 2nd and Mabry at 3rd.
  4. Yeah I noticed that, where does he normally bat? I think he batted 4th against the Cubs when Rusch pitched last time. edit Bah, nooby slow to the punch
  5. I have to ask if you read the link provided in the first post? If what is said in the link it true it sounds like Selig try to get steriod testing back in 1994 and couldn't because of the MLBPA. It dosen't sound like he ignored the problem for the "good of the game" but had to strong of opposition from the MLBPA to get any thing done.
  6. I guess you can say the same thing about Fidel Castro?
  7. Considering his reported demands for Lugo and Huff (which weren't much different from LaMar's), I really don't think it was premature. Still think that claim wasn't premature? I read the link and all it said about Lugo and Heilman was Not saying that it will not happen, I just think that if that was Rotoworlds only source they are reading a little to much into the statement. It just mentions that the 2 players could be involved in a trade but I saw nothing suggesting that it would have to be straight up. As far as we know, the Rays might was a few prospecs from the Mets as well.
  8. I'll write down the number and keep it for next year. If you don't want to mess with mailing them I can call and have them sent. Thanks agian
  9. PM sent Thanks you very much for taking the time to send me a schedule. I seem to have a hard time finding them where I live and the ones I can find online to print aren't very good.
  10. In the past I have able to call and have a schedule sent to me. I found the phone number posted here but I'm unable to find it again. If someone knows and could share the information I'd appreciate it.
  11. I'm sorry Kirby died and my sympathy goes out to his friends and family. While reading this thread, I've noticed several people refer to Kirby Puckett as one of the all time greats and one of the best to ever play the game. I always thought he was very good but not great ball player and was voted into the hall of fame on sympathy votes because glaucoma forced him to retire. His stats are not really any better than Dale Murphy or Jim Rice. Maybe his success in the postseason would give him the edge and make him worthy of the Hall of Fame over them but I still think this leaves him short of being one of the best ball players in my lifetime or one of the best of his generation. I don't say this to knock Kirby Puckett but I feel that people sometimes over state or exaggerate someone’s accomplishments when they die.
  12. I like that too, the AA Round Rock Express of the Astros used to be the Jackson Generals. So the "Generals" I guess is open now. I'm guessing the Washington Generals was a joke since it was the name of the team the Globetrotters always played and only won 1 game in 40 years. I couldn't tell if you knew this from your post and I'm sorry if I missed something. No joke. I guess with some of the moves that the Nationals have made, it makes since to take the name of the team that holds the record for the most consecutive losses :)

  14. Could trading Patterson for a prospect free up the money that the Cubs wanted to pull off the rumored Walker for C.Wilson trade that Hoops was talking about? Or was the money that they wanted wasn't becasue they needed it, just thought Wilson cost to much for his production?
  15. I think that a Tejada+Bedard for Prior would at least be worth looking at even if the Cubs had to include a middle of the road pitching prospect. I'm not sure if the O's would still be interested but even if they were, I would think that Henery would want to look at what he could get from other teams for Prior if he is really willing to trade him. I'd like to see what a team like Texas would offer for a #1 starter that they have been in need of. I'm not saying I would want to trade Prior, but I would like to at least see what other potential offers could be out there before making a trade with the O's.
  16. I just thought it might be some what encouraging that someone in the media thought we would keep Walker if the Cubs are not able to sign Furcal. I do not know how reliable Jerry Crasnick is but thought he could have some inside information but I guess it is just as likely that he was just using common sense and we all know that common sense has not been a strong point of the Cubs that last few years either
  17. I found this answer from the chat interesting and thought I would pass it on. Who plays shortstop for the Cubs if they don't sign Furcal? Neifi Perez? Nomar? JERRY CRASNICK I think they'll go with the kid, Ronny Cedeno at short, and play Todd Walker at second next year. That way Neifi can be their super utility guy. If they pick up a shortstop, Cedeno will go to second and they'll trade Walker to an AL team. This is the first time I think I really heard some say they thought Walker could stay with the Cubs. Getting Furcal would be nice, but if this is right (I'm not saying it is), at least we might not looking at Neifi starting if they don't.
  18. It must be the Riddler because I wouldn't think that Ron Cey would have anything against Bruce.
