  1. 822 post ASB OPS 183 post ASB IsoP just my opinion. He doesn't look like he's in great shape any more. If he's really off steroids (who knows with the HGH business) then I think he's going to fall off pretty quickly. Steriods were banned going into the 2005 season. 2005 and 2006 were two of his three best seasons in the majors. HGH Yeah, Truff said that... I have no problem waiting until the Mitchell report comes out. If hes on it, I'll take him for 50 cents on the dollar, if hes not, I'll still take him. Tejada-HGH>>>>>>>Theriot+Hendry spending 13M/season for the next 2 years.

  3. Or, you are wrong. Yeah because the dodgers, angels, dbacks, rays, yanks, redsox, etc are all just pining for a SS and there are about 84 3B on the market. Its just the cubs and the cards who need SS and to a lesser extent the astros. No, they don't have to trade Tejada now, but the team is taking a different direction, and his value may not be higher. Excluding Hill does not necessarily mean that the offer would just be made up of prospects, there are a couple other guys on the team that Hendry hasn't given NTCs to. Based on MacPhail's quotes, I think Marmol could be the centerpiece, not Hill. This is an interesting read.
  4. Here's some 2008 projections James J.Loney .302 /.359/.465 /.823 CHONE J.Loney .284/.347/.431/.778 James M.Kemp .322/.365/.508/.873 CHONE M.Kemp .289/.337/.467/.804 Last year's PECOTA predicitons have their 2008s as follows: Kemp 295/349/524 Loney 298/357/486
  5. While your first sentence is probably true, your second sentence definitely is not. However, I predict this thread will die into oblivion very soon. Loney/Kemp idea is nothing new. It's not, but the fact that the Dodgers seem to be shopping Kemp is... Except for the Kemp/Kershaw for Santana rumor that has been around since the beginning of time.
  6. Ned Yost got a vote...and somewhere out there an editor has uknowlingly hired a baseball writer with downs syndrome.

  8. exactly. fukudome + hill would be better and cheaper than trading for tejada and trading/signing a SP to take hill's spot. We can trade for Tejada without including Hill. I'm absolutely certain of that.
  9. I sure hope this is under Jim's Christmas Tree this year
  10. well pierre had a batting average near .300 to go with 60 steals, so coletti probably is happy with the signing. Na, the Dodgers have said they haven't ruled out moving Pierre to LF. The fact that they are even considering that tells me they must be having second thoughts about that contract. There are also reports that Ned wants Andruw Jones. The fact that they are thinking of moving Pierre to left, is proof enough that they are completely [expletive]. "So, man we don't really like that Juan Pierre kid" "Yeah, you know what we should do? Move him to left and go after a centerfielder!" "Wonderful idea! Lets trade Kemp while' we're at it!" "Why would we limit ourselves to only CFs if we want to upgrade the OF? Pierre plays a passable CF and we could find a corner OF who hits as well as a CF for much cheaper. Heck, for that matter, why don't we put Kemp in CF and get rid of Pierre?" "SHUT UP, KIM"
  11. Nothin like the brains (or lack thereof) of a former (or current) Cubs exec for ya.
  12. I'm sure the Orioles would be interested. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, and Cedeno for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal We might have to give a bit more, but its not too far off a win win. Pie, Marshall, Gallagher, Cedeno, and Dempster for Tejada and Bedard. Done deal There's no way I do that deal if I was Baltimore. That would sure help them start the rebuilding process. I don't think its all that lopsided. Bedard is a poor man's Santana and Pie/Gallagher is a poor man's Kemp/Kershaw (Gallagher being a really poor man's Kershaw, but who isn't?). If I'm Balt. Although, I'd rather do Bedard for either Kemp or Kershaw straight up (by a lot). Marshall, Cedeno, Dempster + Patterson or another pitcher isn't a bad haul for Tejada. Its sure not a proposal that gets the phone hung up.

  14. A great Rf (or OF in general regardless of position) is easier to come by than a great SS, though. There's really no reason a team with a $100M payroll should end up with Burnitz/ Jones/ Hollandsworth, etc in their OF. And the RF numbers, weren't horrible. But they were middle of the pack, and boosted by players like Ward and Pagan having astronomical numbers in RF. Even Floyd was better in RF than he was in all other situations by a long shot (LF, PH, DH). I think the point was that we didn't need a great SS, we could get the same marginal additional production by acquiring a decent SS as by acquiring a really good RF.
  15. We'd still have to go north of $125 for ARod. It'd be money well spent though. Also, the title of this thread reminds me of a Carrie Bradshaw Sex and the City type line.
  16. Take Dontrelle's $8m off their hands. Hill and Gallagher slot into their 2008 rotation, include Pie or Colvin. If you have Soriano in left and Cabrera in right, you don't need much production out of CF for the next few years. It's no guarantee to get outbid. Not everybody is anxious to give up huge amounts of talent, and pay the longterm extension Cabrera will want and does deserve. It can't hurt to get in the discussion. If you have Miggy in RF, you better keep Pie to cover CF and RF. He didn't play that bad of defense in 04 or 05 in the cavernous OF in FLA and although hes plumped up since, hes working with trainers right now to lose weight.
  17. If the deal is Marmol and Cedeno and prospect for Crawford, fine. If it's Hill and Cedeno and prospect, I think we can do better than the Crawford upgrade. Exactly! Shipping off Marmol right now would be selling high. I'd be all for it, even for a non star like Crawford. Like Meph, I'd MUCH rather improve at SS, but Crawford for Marmol, Cedeno, Prospect would be a good value.
  18. That'd be one hell of a docking considering he probably makes about 1M/year max.
  19. When you adjust for league, Shields had a better season last year than Hill.
