  1. Not ridiculously, but significantly? Possibly, if he thinks the ROI is good enough to cover it, and if he thinks that's what it'll take to get a deal done. What's ROI, rate of insanity? Hehe, return on investment. Banedon, I think your second line might be the most important...Cuban probably knows that he will have to go above and beyond to get the deal done.
  2. Chris Young is an extreme fly ball pitcher - currently he ranks last in the NL of pitchers with 20+ innings with a G/F of 0.40. He needs to stay at PETCO. He also is the only pitcher in the history of the world who seems to be able to sustain a ridiculous BABIP year after year. No doubt it has to do with being a fly ball pitcher as shown above, but still. Also, I'm not sure DLee would be that happy.
  3. Yeah, but I seriously doubt that friendship will play a role in the sell of the franchise. If Canning doesn't outbid Cuban, then I promise people Zell will take Cuban's offer. Owners like Cuban is good for baseball, because they will always try to put the best product on the field. I'm not saying it will play a role, but just that the string is interesting. Zell seems like the guy when faced with the alternatives of doing whats best for his friends or whats best for himself to spout out a few expletives and prepare to receive a few less Christmas (or Hannukah) cards in the mail. Also, one thing thats annoying me is that people keep on talking about what if Cuban blows the Canning group out of the water. Cuban is a smart business man, hes not going to ridiculously overpay for the Cubs.
  4. Yeah, probably not a good idea to get a penalty in the 4th overtime...
  5. Brad Wilkerson cleared waivers...and hits left handed...and can play all 3 OF positions...
  6. I'll gladly take what Theriot has produced, but I'm also going to take it in its appropriate context in affecting what I think he'll produce from here on out.
  7. Why the bleep would it have to be a run producing CF?!? Hit Geo Soto in the number five freaking spot behind Ramirez. "Too bad hes not lefty handed"...remember that comment? Since BP keeps on bringing up the Pie to the Padres idea, maybe we could bring back Jody Gerut to platoon in center? Hes healthy now and tearing it up in AAA for the Padres.
  8. Cedeno hits righties much better than lefties, IIRC. Johnson is fine if used properly, as discussed in the OP. Cedeno should play everyday and I don't care where he plays. Did you see the throw he made from 3B tonight? In the minors hes hit lefties much better, in the majors hes hit righties much better. Of course its all relative, he hit both lefties and righties really well in the minors (2005 and 2007) and neither lefties nor righties very well in the majors (before this year).
  9. Or that our pitchers are really inefficient, naw that couldn't be it.
  10. Marquis has actually been excellent against Pujols. It's Izturis we need to worry about.... Or dumb walks like these. Man its become really popular to draw conclusions after 20 ABs here hasn't it.
  11. Come on my ass! Ummmmmm sorry, buzz bissinger hacked into my account for a post there OMG Ronnie Woo Woo on a commercial
  12. If the infielder can catch the ball facing the infield, the infield fly rule is in play.
  13. Well, to his credit, hes actually trying to up his runs gloved in for us.
  14. ohh Jeez, Joe Morgan is already theorizing about OBP...this is going to be a rough night.
  15. Ronny over Theriot is not a marginal difference. theriot has a .436 obp in the 2 spot im content with that And 2 days later its dropped 39 points...its bad enough to use a month of stats to make decisions let alone splitting that down to batting order. well, feel free to give this reminder to all the people in this thread who talk about cedeno having better stats this season. Absolutely, we should take each player's first month of stats in the context of their careers and what we project them to play like for the rest of the year. BTW, Cedeno has a 3000 OPS as the #3 hitter.
  16. When teams have fire sales they don't trade their best players who are making league minimum. It depends on what they can get in return and when theyre do up for free agency. Give me 1 example. When I said making league minimum, pre-arbi was implied.
  17. I'm a true patriot. My rebate will be going towards the down payment on my new place...and will account for 0.7792% of the amount of money I have to shell out when I close at the end of this month.

  20. Idiots. I'd explain why, but I think the issue of whether or not the Cubs "need" a left-handed outfielder doesn't really need to be explored. I agree, but I can't say that I'd mind getting Bradley into this lineup.... Soriano, Fukudome, Lee, Ramirez, Bradley, Soto, DeRosa, Theriot/Cedeno Wow. It would be pretty awesome if the cubs idioted themselves into getting Bradley. I'll do you one better...trade Pie for Greene, and a pitcher for Bradley. Thatd be one hell of an offense.
  21. Idiots. I'd explain why, but I think the issue of whether or not the Cubs "need" a left-handed outfielder doesn't really need to be explored. Coughcubs lead the league in OPS vs rightiescough
  22. Gammons says that Lou wants to move Fukudome to the 2 hole, but they need to get a left handed hitting outfielder to hit 5th...Gammons threw out Milton Bradley (said hes not available now)...said the Cubs will look to do it in June/July.
