  1. He got scooped by NSBB. Yeah, didn't this all start with Roast and Vance? Who me? I mean with the whole comparisons with Gerut and Lane, Hill and Penn and so on and so forth.
  2. Sometimes the mods are privy to info the rest of us are not. In this case, I think they made the right call. I feel the same as satx but have come ot accept it as not being a mod. It is what it is, I'd love to know as from what we observed he didnt deserve it, but I completely trust them to make the appropriate decisions in these matters.

  4. Accepting the fact that my league sucks and no one trades and definitely no blockbusters so I really need to get an Ace or as close as I can to one. If i miss out on Pedro, then I know I can get Z or Colon. Which one should I get?
  5. My problem is, that I am in serious need of a big offensive stud. Particularly in the outfield. But Carlos Beltran isnt as special as he's made out to be, and Gary Sheffield is old for a dynasty league. Thats why Helton is my target. Of course, he's no spring chicken either. How even is this deal, again with the dynasty league setting considered: Helton, Todd Walker for Clemens, Peralta, and Ford. I'm leary of Helton and his down year. Hes getting up there in age and plays every freekin day, but I dont think you are paying too much there for the chance he should even return to a big below his normal level. Walker is a good thrown in as he will get you good production in a slim position. Do you not need Peralta? I'd do everything I could to try to keep him and as you arent asking for any rookies/near major league ready studs back I'd try to pull in from the deal. But hey, maybe I value him more than most. Tell him to pick up Betiment from whoever has him to include in the deal and you will get it done.
  6. hehe, since when did bbq need chicken? Fried breading and sweet baby rays is all i need to live. KFC is good, for some reason im a freek and dont eat meat off a bone so I appreciate their ingenuity in creating multiple boneless entrees, all delectible in their own way.
  7. And what did he say, exactly? I don't remember which comments were his. I thought he said on the radio he said (go back a couple pages) that asking Dunn for Mitre, CP and Hill was too steep, but wasn't sure who was the steep one. Another poster said he heard it and that the Cubs said that was too steep a price for Dunn. The other poster could be right - it never occurfed to me the Cubs would say that's too steep a price and the way he phrased 'too steep' was confusing to me. Apparently I'm not that bright, or I was really into my barbeque chicken sandwich, and that does sound like me - I do love my BBQ. ohh and now the full disclosure. Well now we know that BBQ was involved we really cant put any validity in anything you heard because all of your concentration was focused on one sense...the sense of deliciousness.
  8. I'm still not even sure there's a trigger to pull on this one. Bruce didn't just say that Hendry wouldn't do Hill straight-up for Dunn, he said that there hadn't even been an offer made. Hal McCoy is an HOFer and has been around 30+ years - I'm more inclined to believe him - he has longer and better contacts. Houston is the only other possible suitor right? Hendry may be playing a waiting game.... Lot of time before the deadline. This thread could balloon to chitchat size by then. Dunn really needs to learn to make friggin contact - sub .250, all those Ks, and his OBP of .380+ is very good, but not great. Just reviewing his stats.... He probably never will tho. I really don't think I can stand to watch Dunn and CP in the same lineup everyday.... We've already led the NL in Ks for the last 4 years. Don't forget LA, independently thinking, I would say they would have to be the favorite with their ridiculous AA team and depth in the system as well as the reds only having to play them 3 times a year.
  9. Yeah, ZZ, to catch up, Bruce, said Hendry wouldnt do a straight up trade. God thats ridiculous. Oops, I didn't see that. I have my doubts Hendry is THAT dumb. Maybe Bruce didn't hear about CP and Mitre. I mean that's just [expletive]. Huge hole in LF.... Look at this lineup: Hairston Walker DLee Dunn ARam Burnitz Nomar Barrett Look at the L/R balance. Look at only 2 whiff machines, both of whom walk at excellent and good rates. Nomar would have no pressure to perform, which I bet he will, at least better than Neifi. That's a championship lineup. hehe, i think that topic was in another thread, or another part of the thread brought up by mizzou, and obviously ZZ, we had the same lineup...I made some remarks that this lineup has a 350+OBP 1-7, 800+ OPS 2-8 and a 950+ OPS 3-5
  10. Yeah, ZZ, to catch up, Bruce, said Hendry wouldnt do a straight up trade. God thats ridiculous.
  11. I would not give up Mitre and Williams with Wood potentially going back to the DL. to get Dunn I would think about it. We have Rush to start in the fo9r Wood (or Hill). If Wood's injury is long term then I may reconsider. But i think to get Dunn it may be worth it. How about giving Welly the chance as the 5th starter? He's been pretty good lately. I still think I would do this trade. Beat ya!
  12. I'd just start Welly...problem solved. Or Ice, whoevers throwing better and is stretched out at the time. So maybe the Dunn deal (no pun intended) wont take place until Hill shuts out the Giants on Monday...good thing Ill be in attendance.
  13. Im just wondering why we havent traded Holla for F-Rod yet. With Dempster closing and Williamson, Wuertz, F-Rod, and Novoa spliting the 7th and 8th we should be able to conserve our pen and not burn anyone out which knowing Dusty would be my biggest concern.
  14. Hmm, interesting, isnt this the exact opposite of other reports weve heard...kinda gives me hope to think that they are in the throws of negotiations. Hendry might be asking for another player along with Dunn.
  15. Poster said he had a source telling him a Dunn for Patterson, Mitre, Hill deal was going to be completed sometime between last night and tomorrow evening....lots of speculation...today, he came on and said he still expects it to be done by tomorrow evening, but Bruce Miles said nothing is going on right now...supposedly, the Reds radio announcer asked Hendry tonight about that rumor, Hendry said it was too steep of a price. and most importantly (and infuriating) Bruce said Hendry wouldnt trade Hill for Dunn straight up :pukel:
  16. I'd do Patterson and Mitre for Dunn in a second. Maybe the Reds would do Patterson/Mitre/Wellemeyer? Itd definitely have to be some one with a much higher ceiling than Welly...I guessed Marshall, maybe Nolasco, maybe Pinto. Whoever is just behind Hill on the prospect list would be fine by me since I love the intial proposal.
  17. I've always wondered why different people have different amounts of pages...it only says 28 for me. Premium members get all the crap posts filtered out. That's not true, they just get more posts per page. There is no difference in content as far as the message board goes, just more bells and whistles, like smileys, BBcode, etc. i never knew that...come on people, premium is worth it, PAY TIM!!!!!
  18. Who wouldn't? That 40 point difference in OBP suggests you wouldn't. Edited to shrink that quoting window down. 1908s point is its not I'd rather have a walk over a hit, its I'd rather have a walk than a ball put into play. There is no chance of getting out on your way to first with a walk but on average around a 60% chance of getting out when you put the ball into play. Not to mention double plays. Putting the ball into play and moving runners has its merit, but statisically it creates less runs than walking. And I like creating runs.

  20. Because Miles is right about 99.9% of the time. And if Miles didn't know or was uncertain he wouldnt come on and post that its not gonna happen.
  21. Not to go off topic, but Pierre has more ground ball singles that scoot through the infield due to a faster surface than infield singles he can beat out due to a slower surface. Thats why Wrigley grass would hinder him.
  22. Also, Bruce would not purposefully come on here and mislead us.
