I really like your last 4 picks...save Peralta. Although I think its completely defensable given that you chose him at the end of the 15th round. Looking at his 2005 and 2006 numbers in the context of his professional career, 2005 can easily be explained by an abberant HR/FB% (18%) and lucky BABIP (32 points higher than expected) Amazingly his BABIP was actually lucky last year too (19 points higher than expected). I can only think of two shortstops on the board that I'd rather have and one is a bigger gamble and the other has a much lower upside.

I think it's because once you got past Mauer, Martinez and McCann, there really isn't that big a difference between the next 10 catchers. I saw three guys go off the board just now, and there are still at least four guys that I'd be fine with having as my starter. Ohh, I totally agree. Like I said before, I only took McCann because I wanted to see how far some of the lower tier guys would fall so I could get a good guage in my real draft. My collusion comment wasn't an accusation, but moreso gamesmanship in order to convince other players to start taking catchers so I would have a better chance of the guys I want falling to me. :D As far as not caring about who my catcher is, in my league that is a sure way to guarantee yourself a very small chance of placing in the $.

Probably my most favorite game of the Dusty Era. Certainly the best game of 2006. I was at that game in the CF bleachers, it was insane...unfortunately the next 17 games I attended we lost.

FWIW, PECOTA predicts Fielder will be better offensively than Lee THIS year. Of course when you take defense into consideration the scales tip in Lee's favor. Anyone have a guess when Braun will be called up?

Its never good when you have to be compared to Izturis. Kidding aside, if PECOTA is right, the Brewers infield offense will be just fine with a 750 OPS SS when you get 850 out of 3B, 830 out of 2B, and 900 out of 1B. God, I wish I was a Brewers fan.

If you trade for A-Rod, and then use 2007 to rebuild, he'll just opt out rather than stay with a losing team-and then you lose Z for nothing. Per Cots Interesting on that second one... And the MLBPA wouldn't approve of him just giving up his opt-outs for nothing. And I don't think theres any way to get around the fact that he can opt to become a FA the offseason after a mid-contract trade.
